Just stop. You're wasting your time. They just told Osborn he wasn't coming back. You honestly think they're gonna give him a chance to prove them wrong? Believe it or not, coaches have egos. Even Coach Mac. Derek is our quarterback. Support him or don't, that's your choice, but if you think they're gonna give Osborn a shot after pulling his scholly next year, you've lost your mind. Go Mean Green!

Funny that you say that. I scrolled down and actually started reading before I realized that wasn't Tony.

That is exactly what I'm saying.

SI Video Interview with Tony (Sorry if it's a repost)
cl_1_2008 replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I thought it was very strange that they even used totals in the first place. Basketball stats are pretty much always measured in per game numbers. -
He wasn't given that option.

The Jimmy Show*

I've seen this whole "many talented players are redshirting" thing on here a lot. If they were actually talented, they'd be on the field. Unless you're referring to the transfers, in which case I think that's hilarious because people constantly use the whole "Dodge screwed us by recruiting JUCO guys" excuse all the time, and that's essentially what these transfers are.

Can't win w/ a run first offense...really
cl_1_2008 replied to BIG DAWG's topic in Mean Green Football
Nobody is denying that we've improved defensively. But we are a LONG, LONG way from dominant. We gave up nearly 300 yards passing in the first half today. That is unacceptable. And we've taken nearly as big a step backwards offensively. -

You CAN win with a run-first offense, but you have to have a DOMINANT defense, which we do not. -
I'm SOOOOOOOO Tired of Derek Thompson's Terrible Passing

He is healthy. He's redshirting. -

Hopefully, this week The Jimmy Show gets a few more touches. Good things happen when he gets the ball.

ESPN Top Prospects Outside the "Big 6" Conferences
cl_1_2008 posted a topic in Mean Green Basketball
http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/blog/_/name/nba_draft/id/8540678/ranking-top-prospects-high-major-conference-nba-draft It's an insider article so I'll just put the important part here. 1. Tony Mitchell, F, So., North Texas Top 100 Ranking: 5 Mitchell was an elite prospect coming out of high school, but ran into some academic trouble at Missouri and ended up sitting out the season before transferring to North Texas. He didn't disappoint in his first season with the Mean Green, averaging 14.7 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 3 bpg, and shooting 57 percent from the field. Virtually everyone in the NBA expected him to declare for the draft after last season, but he surprised them all by returning to school for his sophomore season. If he were at North Carolina or Kentucky, Mitchell would likely be considered for the No. 1 pick in the draft. He has a rare combination of size, athletic ability and basketball skills on both ends of the floor. Defensively he can be a monster. He's both a terrific rebounder and shot-blocker and can guard multiple positions. Offensively, he's still developing, but has showed talent both as a scorer in the paint and on the perimeter. The biggest challenge for talent evaluators is the lack of talent Mitchell is playing with and against. There aren't any other NBA-caliber players on his roster, and the toughest team they are scheduled to play all season is Creighton. That said, a small conference and poor competition didn't stop the Blazers from taking Lillard at No. 6, and if Mitchell plays well this season, he has a great shot of even going a spot or two higher than Lillard did in June. Go Mean Green! -
FAU writer claims UNT Kidnapped Tony Mitchell
cl_1_2008 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Guys, it was a joke. Why is everyone so defensive? -
WKU may have lost to Alabama by a wider margin than we lost to LSU, but Alabama is a much better team than LSU. They held Bama to 103 rushing yards on 31 carries. They held their own upfront against the best offense line in the country. That's impressive any way you slice it. I'd put them slightly above us right now, but that is certainly a winnable game. And I don't mean to be a pessimist, but we probably need to go 7-5 to ensure a bowl game.

Was that the biggest win of the McCarney era?
cl_1_2008 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Why does everyone overrate Indiana? They were HORRIBLE. This years ULL team beats them by 20. Tuesday was definitely McCarney's biggest win. -
Yeah, lets take away the dump offs, but conveniently forget the perfectly thrown bomb to Brelan that was dropped. Screens are part of the game. You obviously have an agenda, but you don't get to use it tonight. Sorry.

He doesn't grasp our playbook? We run the exact same play over and over again. Lol he doesn't play as much as Byrd because Byrd is much better in pass protection.

Phil Steel's 2012 Mid Season All-Sun Belt team
cl_1_2008 replied to slugg's topic in Mean Green Football
It's easier to quantify defensive impact. Although, Whitfield doesn't belong on this list quite yet. And why is a that such a ridiculous accusation? You think coaches don't play favorites? -

Lemon being on that list tells me that whoever made this list hasn't watched one second of our line play. It's a travesty to the kids on the line that are actually good, but unfortunately for them, they weren't recruited by this staff. -
remember that OU game we lost during the Dodge era
cl_1_2008 replied to outoftown's topic in Mean Green Football
I hear this argument way too much. Why should someone from Texas owe an allegiance to UT? Why does the location matter? It's not like OU is from an enemy country or something. Hell, most of their players are FROM TEXAS. I dislike UT probably because I come in contact with more UT bandwagon fans than any other University. That, and I think it's funny how much money they spend, yet rarely yield results. They're basically the Yankees of college football, but at least the Yankees win. Sure, they caught lightning in a bottle with Vince Young, but they have no excuse to ever go 5-7. And no, I don't like OU either. I wish they could both lose every week, but unfortunately they have to play each other once a year. -
Did I miss something? I feel like a chunk of the conversation is missing.
-
Eligibility to play in the Big 12, not here. He sat out a year once he got here, because he enrolled in the spring. His grades were perfectly fine to play here.
-
I don't believe Tony did either. Once you sign that paper, you're at the mercy of the NCAA.

Kickoff team has been good for the past 2 games. They've got the starters on there now. Makes a huge difference.
