  1. I saw this earlier. This is good. The line isn't low, but it will cause the public to pile on UH...if you're a gambler, then you know that anytime the public piles on someone, that isn't good for that team...using this logic, this game will be closer than most of us think...we may not win, but I fully expect us to cover the spread...
  2. Lol I'll give you a +1 before all the -1's pile in from the guys that can't stand the mention of the name of anyone from the Dodge family. They both looked good. To be honest, we could use them both right now. I do hope they're both very successful at MSU though...and going by this game, it appears that they will be...
  3. How is that not good for him? They could have cut him. But now, he makes his full salary for the year, and he doesn't have to do anything.
  4. I wouldn't be too worried about drops. We haven't gotten to practice in the rain because it hasn't rained since freaking May.
  5. How many people were there?
  6. Brent Osborn should be our starting QB. But other than that, after the 1st Q, the score was 16-13 UNT. And no, they didn't pull their starters that early.
  7. If JJ is seriously injured, our offensive line is in big trouble. Our defensive line is just not good. If we don't improve in the trenches, and quickly, we could be in big trouble. I'm still holding out hope though.
  8. Lol Emmitt, you're one of my favorite posters on here, but c'mon. The first quarter we just didn't show up. We lost our best offensive lineman to injury. If JJ can't get back soon, this could be a long season. We'll be fine though. In all honesty, our defensive scheme has been atrocious. TY Hilton has been single covered all night. By the way, my roommate scored the first TD of the McCarney era.
  9. Less that 48 hours until kickoff and we still don't have one. I'm already on the record. UNT - 34 FIU - 27 Lance Dunbar has over 200 total yards and 3 TD's.
  10. Concessions? BYOB? Need more details...
  11. The leagues most electrifying player is Dunbar, not T.Y Hilton. Just look up who has the most 20-yard plays the past 2 years. Go ahead, I'll wait...
  12. Early in the year, we have the toughest stretch of our schedule. However, we also have a huge advantage. We have 3 guys that played significant time on offense last year that are back. Fortenberry, Tomlinson, and Lance Dunbar. I don't care how much film you see on Dunbar, you're not going to stop him. The other two are linemen. Our offense is going to be something that nobody has ever seen on film. We have a new QB, an entire new WR corp, a real life TE, and some new linemen. You could also say that this will hurt us because of inexperience, but I trust most of the guys who didn't get to play last year(JJ Johnson, Mason Y'Barbo, Andrew Power, Cyril Lemon, Derek Thompson, Brent Osborn, Mike Outlaw, and Chris Bynes). The jury is still out on the rest of the WR corp, but I think we'll be fine. On defense, we have a new coordinator and we get back 2 guys that would have played a huge part last year in Steven Ford and Dewaylon Cook. FIU has no idea what to expect Thursday other than a heavy dose of Dunbar. And they're not stopping Dunbar even if they do expect it. UNT 34 FIU 27
  13. Those predictions didn't seem so bold. The only one that isn't a lock is McNulty on the 2-deep, and he won't be. We've heard a lot about him yes, but Osborn has been the best QB in camp. Thompson and Osborn are by far our best 2 QBs. Both of them have my complete trust.
  14. No offense to Trent Deans, but I'm very disappointed that we used a scholly on a backup kicker.
  15. I happened to be there this morning in the parking lot. It scared the absolute crap out of me each time it went off. It is unbelievably loud. Just deafening. Well done Rick, well done.
  16. I like our CB's a lot. One side we have Steven Ford. Last fall camp, before he was injured, nobody on our roster could catch a ball on him. He will undoubtedly be slowed by the surgery. If it doesn't slow him too much, he'll still be in the running for all-conference. On the other side, we have Royce Hill. Royce is probably our most experienced defensive player. He's a good cover corner, but like most of our secondary, he is undersized. Our corners could definitely make an argument that they are the best unit on our enter defense. They are super athletic, but very undersized. Our backups are Freddie Warner and D'Leon McCord. They are both capable players, but I don't trust them near as much as the other two. Starter: Royce Hill Starter: Steven Ford 2: Freddie Warner 2: D'Leon McCord Starter Position Rating: 7.5/10 Backup Position Rating: 6/10 Overall Position Rating: 7/10
  17. Linebacker. Honestly, going by units, I'm more comfortable with our linebacker unit than any other unit on our defense. Leading the pack, we have Jeremy Phillips at OLB. We all wish he would have gained some weight, but at 6'3" 215, it's not like he's tiny. The best compliment I can give him is that he has a better head for football than anyone on the defense. He always seems to be in the right place. He will make plays, that I can promise you. Our starting MLB is Zach Orr. Right now, he's listed at 6' 231...as far as size goes, he's the most appropriately sized LB in quite a while. He's a big hitter with a good head on his shoulders. His best days are very much ahead of him. Our other starting LB is Forlando Johnson. IMO, I think Will Wright or Mike Stojkokic should be in this spot, but I'm not the coach. Forlando is a good athlete, but he's kind of a headcase. Will Wright is a tremendous athlete, but he's more concerned with hitting people than anything else. He may be the best hitter on the team, but until he learns to read the plays and make the tackle, he'll struggle to get consistent playing time. Our other OLB is Mike Stojkovic. He's a straight playmaker. If he's on the field, good things will happen I promise you. Backing up Zach Orr, we have Sean January. He is more than capable of doing this job. He will make plenty of plays this year. Starter: Jeremy Phillips Starter: Zach Orr Starter: Forlando Johnson 2: Mike Stojkovic 2: Sean January 2: Will Wright 3: Derek Akunne Starter Position Rating: 7/10 Backup Position Rating: 6.5/10 Overall Position Rating: 7/10
  18. In my opinion, our best defensive end is Brandon McCoy. From this point on I will refer to him as Sarge. Sarge is listed at 6'2" 270 pounds. He's the only lock to start. The new coaching staff originally pinned him as a DT. To be honest, I don't give a damn if he plays DT or DE. If he's on the field, he's going to make plays. Don't believe me? Watch some film from last year. When he was on the field, good things happened. On the other side, we have KC Obi, at 6'2" 249. KC is an undersized run-stopper at defensive end. Our third end, Brandon Akpunku, is going to be used mostly in pass-rushing situations. He's a tremendous athlete at defensive end. He'll be able to get into the backfield, strictly because of speed. He will make plays for the Mean Green this year, whether he starts or not, this I promise you. Our fourth end, Daryl Mason, will also be on the field this year. He is a true freshman, and he is very undersized, but I hear he is a very good playmaker and the coaches love him. Our 5th end is Aaron Bellazin, who is a sophomore. He's a tremendous athlete, but like most everyone at this position, he is undersized. Our downfall at this position will not be talent. We have plenty of talent. However, the talent that we have is very undersized, especially after the starters. Starter: Brandon McCoy Starter: KC Obi 2: Brandon Akpunku 2: Daryl Mason 3: Aaron Bellazin Starter Position Rating: 5.5/10 Backup Position Rating: 4.5/10 Overall Position Rating: 5/10
  19. We won 3 conference games last year with half a football team. We're getting more people back than we lost. Everyone keeps talking about the past like it matters. It doesn't. What happened in the past has absolutely nothing to do with this particular football team.
  20. The staff didn't inherit much? That's a bold statement. The only positions where we will take a step back are offensive tackle, wide receiver, and defensive tackle. And that number 5 guy? I'm sure every first year coach in the nation would love to inherit him. Now if you had 6 true freshmen starting, this might hold some weight, but by my last count, that number is zero.
  21. Players voted.
  22. I'm sure I'm not the first to come up with this idea, but here it is. DFW Classic at the AAC: UNT, TCU, SMU, and UTA. Round Robin format. It just makes too much sense.
  23. It isn't any faster than that now. The only thing he lacks is speed.
  24. There's no way in hell there are 77 college basketball players in the nation better than Tony Mitchell. Appreciate the find though. +1
