DL Depth...we have 8 guys coming into the fold
cl_1_2008 replied to BIG DAWG's topic in Mean Green Football
Sarge's productivity dropped because he played the entire season injured, not because he's too old. He's in better shape than anyone on our entire roster, period. -
NCAA says no to Twitter handles on jerseys
cl_1_2008 replied to GreenBat's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Wait a second. This idea had enough legs that someone actually asked the NCAA about it? Hahaha that in itself is hilarious...a lot of these twitter handles aren't even coherent... -
Because New Orleans.

LSU fan with a question about Johnny Jones

The fact you were arguing was free throw shooting. Not too much strategy involved there. -

Is this guy seriously arguing against facts? That's the thing about facts. They can't be argued. That's why they call them facts. And that's a fact. -
UNT to be another player short tonight

PJ Alzee Jordan Tony Roger Coleman Niko A. Mitchell So we have 8 healthy guys if I'm not mistaken. -
3 accounts now? Getting a little ridiculous.

You say 53 percent like it's a bad thing. There's a grand total of one team in the country that's shooting better than that for the season. Yeah, I understand they're awful. I'm not denying that. But I am refuting what Emmitt said, which was that "we looked awful before Walton got hurt." That statement is simply false. I'm not going around pimping a victory over a D2 school, but to say that we looked "AWFUL" is ridiculous. We held them to 30% shooting. We held them to 49 points. We forced 23 turnovers. The rebounds is the only troubling thing. And you're complaining that we only had 8 assists when we scored 90 points? Look, there are plenty of things to complain about, enough that I'd think you wouldn't need to manufacture problems that aren't there. I'm not even saying things would be any different than they are right now if Walton was healthy. But to simply make things up is absurd.

Perry Jones still got drafted in the first round. You just made a great example but it only further proves my point. And Perry started last year as a borderline top ten pick. Nobody had him as a lock for the top 5. But even though he had an awful year, he still went in the first round, all because of potential. As I stated, Tony is obviously falling, but barring injury, he's absolutely going in the first round. Tony's numbers on offense are very similar to Perry, despite the fact that Tony's supporting cast isn't in the same universe as Perry's was. Perry wasn't being double and triple-teamed like Tony constantly is. Defensively, Tony is light years better than Perry ever thought about being. So yeah, Perry's stock plummeted, but even though he played awful, he was STILL a 1st round pick, because of potential. And if it wasn't for a knee injury that teams found out about very late in the process, he wouldn't have even fallen that far. So thanks for proving the point that I was making.

Umm, Walton played ONE minute against Creighton. One minute. Sixty seconds. And we beat East Central 90-49. Granted it is East Central, but we absolutely looked impressive against them.
-
You do not remember correctly.
-
14 points in 5 minutes and change in the 2nd half? What the hell is going on?
-
Sorry, I'm an idiot. You just never know when it comes to the Mean Green. Worst case was my first thought.

Is this an eligibility joke? Please don't be an eligibility joke.

All this talk of him falling to the second round is absurd. He's a lock to be picked in the first round if for no other reason than potential. Guys his size with his athleticism and skillset don't grow on trees. Does he need another year? I'm going to say no. Age is a valuable commodity in the NBA, and he'd be better served spending next year with an NBA team, getting NBA-caliber coaching, without having to worry about going to class. Oh, and the money doesn't hurt. He's not a center, and both Johnny and Benford refused/refuse to accept that. Given that 99% of his college minutes are spent at the 5, while 0% of his NBA minutes will be spent there, there's only so much he can improve on while here. Not to mention that everytime he touches the ball, he's got 2 or 3 defenders swarming him. In the NBA, defenses won't be gameplanning to shut him down. He's better suited to be a role player on offense. He would have to improve significantly to offset the extra year of his age being tacked on. As far as pay is concerned, in the NBA, you make the bulk of your money after your rookie contract. Even if he fell to the mid-20s, he'd still be making around 1 million, compared to 1.8 million if he was picked 10th. And if he came back to school, that's another year of possible injury, while not getting paid, with limited practice time, and mandatory classes. It is in his best interest to leave. That is not to say that I wouldn't love to have him back. I guess we'll see what happens. Go Mean Green

2nd leading rusher in the NFL. 1,613 yards. 13 touchdowns. System or no, those are big time numbers in the NFL. Stop hating.

Like Western Kentucky? Eastern Kentucky? I know you aren't talking about UK.

I can answer this question, since I was there tonight. Fortunately, UFC 155 was the featured event instead of that snoozefest of a football game. I mean they have a ton of TVs, so both were shown, but UFC got the biggest screens.
-
If we knew, he probably wouldn't be bearless.
-
Okay, I'm not saying that we do or do not practice before the games, but IF we do, that explains a little bit of what I saw last night. We all know Tony can be a little lazy from time to time. Last night, Tony didn't look lazy, he looked flat out exhausted. It's not like the guy isn't in shape. He looked tired early in the first half. I found this a little odd.

I'd rather have an undersized kid that can play than an oversized kid that can't.

Aside from Dontre Wilson and that 5'4" QB, I thought DeSoto's best player was #1 Taylor Young, the linebacker. He was all over the field. I was stunned to learn that he has no offers per Rivals. I wouldn't mind having him up here.
-
Decent Sun Belt level LB? Akunne is the second best player on our defense, and he's not too far behind Orr. There are plenty of areas we need to improve, but linebacker isn't one of them.
-
Andrews was First-Team.
-
Y'Barbo too low, Whitfield too high, and Akunne got jobbed.
