We have an offense-oriented coach, and people bitch because our defense sucks. Now, we have a defense-oriented coach, and people bitch because our offense sucks. Make up your mind.

The answer to the question that was asked is simple. Schedule. Yes, they beat FIU, but Hilton and Carroll, their two best players, were hurt. They beat Troy but Troy isn't good. The other 3 teams they beat have 2 combined wins, against South Alabama and Evangel. Yeah, I don't know who Evangel is either. It has nothing to do with the "hole" that Dodge dug us in.

Do the Cowboys beat writers still take unnecessary shots at Wade Phillips? No. Take notes, Brett. It's childish.

It's Official: Katz reporting plan to add UH and SMU

If SMU and Houston do leave for the Big East, and C-USA adds us, we definitely got the better end of that deal. C-USA to Big East isn't much of an improvement with the merger. Sun Belt to C-USA definitely is, especially if the new C-USA-MWC gets an auto-bid(which is certainly a possibility). The only reason the merger was up for discussion was for this exact reason, if I remember correctly. Why would they merge otherwise? -
I think this post sums up how I feel pretty well

I would wager that there are very, very few people who are bigger Ranger fans than me. That being said, when it comes to Rangers vs. UNT, it is absolutely not even up for discussion. I had a buddy ask me last Saturday if I would rather have the Rangers win game 1 or UNT win against FAU. I didn't even have to think to answer that question. The University of North Texas collects/collected my tuition. While I have spent a great deal of money at The Ballpark in Arlington, I have spent much more at UNT for tuition/fees. I'm absolutely obsessed with sports, but my number one loyalty, without question, by a country mile, lies with UNT. Go Mean Green! -
Best QB in the nation? They must have some good drugs in Cajunland.

Yes, the CBS ranking does suck, but we're definitely better than 105-115. Much better.

I had someone at work today tell me that someone invited them last night to sit in their club seats with them, and he enjoyed it so much, he told me he'd be purchasing club seats for next season. Hearing this absolutely made my day. Go Mean Green!

It doesn't help our offense that they're using dunbar like he's Brandon jacobs. He's not suited for that. He's a one-cut-and-go running back. We should be running more zone plays and less power.

Julian Herron finds home at UNT after SMU pulled scholarship

I suppose the preseason comments could be, but comments on a backup linebacker? Highly doubt it... -
Julian Herron finds home at UNT after SMU pulled scholarship

I have a problem with Mac's statement of "God" didn't give him great talent or great size...it seems like Mac goes out of his way to degrade the talent here. Julian is by far the best athlete on the team. He legitimately runs his 40 in the low 4.3s at 6'2 210. He broke the UNT broad jump record by over a foot! He can dunk a basketball by jumping flat-footed. The kid is an absolute freak of an athlete. If this kid was "football smart," he'd play on Sunday's, easily. Julian is a great kid too. I'm very glad that he's a member of the Mean Green and not those scumbags in Dallas. Before the year Mac said we were the smallest and slowest team in division one. Not only is that not true, but we've already played a team in the freaking big ten that was smaller AND slower than we were. It just seems like he's trying to take pressure off himself by misleading the public as to how much talent we have. Just my two cents. Go Mean Green! -
Not sure why some people feel the need to put that stadium down in an attempt to prop Apogee up. That stadium is awesome, and there are several things that I wish Apogee had, and likewise, there are some things that I'm glad Apogee doesn't have. All around though, that is a beautiful stadium.

Except for the fact that Rainey can't hold Dunbar's jock.

Not sure if anyone is watching this game on ESPNU, but these teams are pitiful. If we win 3 of our next 5, we will play in a bowl game. Since I am very confident that we win this week, it really should come down to winning 2 of 4 out of Lafayette, Monroe, Troy, and Arkansas State. Granted, this won't be easy, but I'm still very comfortable with our chances. First thing is first though. Beat the hell out of FAU. UNT - 37 FAU - 17

Any formula with Lafayette ahead of Oregon is seriously flawed. If they met on a neutral field, Oregon would be favored by at least 30.
-
Unfortunately, it looks like they drew random names out of a hat...
-
So if we beat the teams ranked below us, we'll finish 5-7. Did you notice Lafayette was ranked in the 20s? About 60 spots too high if you ask me...

Thank you sir. Like I said before the game, the only reason Indiana was favored was because Vegas knew money would flood in on IU simply because they were playing UNT. We were bigger than them. We were much faster than them. We were just flat out better. Conservative play calling cost us a blowout. Idk if y'all noticed this, but we did not punt the ball in the first half. We had 3 turnovers, and our defense held up every single time. I know the second half wasn't ideal, but if you're going to judge this team on this game, then you should judge it on the first half and not the second. It was very apparent that we were just trying to run the clock out the entire second half. And on defense, I felt like we quit blitzing, for the most part. If they would have kept their foot on the pedal the final score would have been more like 38-7. I tried to tell y'all not to overreact to the first 3 games. Those 3 teams are all very damn good. Houston would beat every team that's left on our schedule. FIU would still be undefeated if their QB didn't get hurt. Indiana is not a good team at all, but they're more comparable to the rest of the sun belt teams than any of our first 3 opponents. The hard parts behind us. A bright future lies ahead, and I don't mean next year. This team will win games this year.

Dominate a Big Ten team, and still can't get any respect. Typical ESPN I suppose...

DT is fine. He played a hell of a game tonight. He had 201 yards and most of those were in the first half, because we played super conservative in the second half. Made a couple great throws downfield. Idk what everyone is griping about because I thought he played a heck of a game. He had a couple bad throws, but the good plays more than made up for it. As I've been saying all along, we are perfectly fine at the QB position. DT is getting better every week.

Any confirmation of Cuban showing up

Being the golf fanatic that I am, I did notice a famous Indiana alum at the game. Actually had my picture taken with him. If you don't know golf, you probably have never heard of him, but it was Jeff Overton. He was one of the best players on the most recent Ryder Cup team. -
I know y'all probably don't care, but here are my thought on the game. I know we only won by 3, but we flat out dominated this game. One of their TDs came after a BS interference call on Royce. If they don't call that, we have 1st and Goal from the 5 to go up 31-14. Our defense can flat out play. Orr is awesome. Stojkovic has solidified his spot on this defense. When Phillips gets healthy, he and stock will start. Offensively, we looked great in the first half. We went ultra conservative in the second half on both sides of the ball. This is the best defense we've fielded in quite a while. DT made several nice throws. For the first time all year, we threw the ball downfield, and I'll be damned if good things didn't happen. I love that they're figuring out more ways to get the ball in James Hamilton's hands. He is the second best player on our offense, but he just happens to play the same position as the best player on our offense. I love that they're figuring out more ways to get the ball in Dunbar's hands. Every defense we play will be keying on 5. We lined him up in different spots all night and they couldn't stop him. Also, that may have been the quietest 280 yards I've ever seen. Our offensive line is improving every game. Our defensive line played their butts off too. Sarge and AK can flat out get after QBs. For the first time since I can remember, our defense was flying around and bringing the wood. Several impressive hits tonight. I know we probably won't win out, but I will be upset if we don't make every game competitive. I know everyone says Dodge left the cupboard bare, but this team has more than enough talent to beat the rest of the teams in our conference. Even though I expected to win, I can't explain how good it feels for it to come to fruition. This was by far the best night I have had as a fan of the Mean Green. Here's to another win next week. Go Mean Green!!
