  1. I second meangreendork. I got here in 2001 and while it's not a night and day the difference is pretty big. I see a whole lot more people wearing green around campus. It hasn't translated to around town yet, but here's hoping. I'm sure that AD efforts will create a more sustained support level as those wearing green around campus now graduate and move around the area.
  2. But did he have an intervention from the infinite wisdom of GMG.com-ites?
  3. I think we need to stage an intervention for the poor man. He has a really serious problem and needs to face it.
  4. People like that just make me shake my head. There's lots of country out there, but very little of it is smack in the middle of a city of 100K+.
  5. I just drove down Bonnie Brae and Willowood. I'm certianly no expert on this but I think that Willowood could be fairly easily expanded enough to accommodate a shoulder to get emergency vehicles through. Bonnie Brae does need to be expanded to four lanes and straightened from 35 to Willowood, and that may be a bit more complex. So why waste time arguing traffic flow, why not put some pressure on the city to do something about it?
  6. I said eight as an illustration. My point was that there are a few people that are opposed to UNT no matter what it does, and they pretty much run the assoc. Most people in Denia, as is the rule in Denton in general, are fairly ambivalent towards UNT, and a few, such as myself, who are supporters. It is a tempest in a teapot, but the only reason anyone pays any attention is that this teapot happens to contain the Mean Green Village and the stadium. There are probably just as many people who are anti-UNT in every neighborhood in town, and the jackwaggons in my neighborhood should be given the same amount of attention as those who might live on the other side of town, none. They knew, same as I did, that when they bought their houses they were moving into a neighborhood next to a large and growing university that is going to do things to further it's mission. If they don't like it they should have picked another neighborhood.
  7. Hmm, vote for Pedro. Seems I've heard that one before. . .
  8. I don't think the "I like UNT" platform would play well with the eight people who bother to show up to neighborhood assoc. meetings and vote in local elections.
  9. Nah, just got dumb neighbors.
  10. I read that and suddenly got a splitting headache. That's miraculous, too.
  11. Six days with some additional traffic coming through spread from late August to late November seems like much ado about nothing. Especially when you factor in all the fantastic sports and cultural entertainment opportunities for darn cheap right down the street. If somebody can explain what the big deal is I'll be amazed, cause I just do not see it. It's six days a year!
  12. Traditional fight song at football games, contemporary version at basketball games? I think that would fit well.
  13. Isn't it a testament to the quality education that radio people get at UNT that other universities have our graduates doing play by play for their teams? I think we should take it as a compliment.
  14. Tailgate tent? Not for $20, but I will let you pee anywhere in my yard you want for a mere $5.
  15. I think Kram has it. UNT has determined that the people who run the Denia neighborhood assoc aren't representing anyone but themselves and can and should be ignored because they're going to be anti-UNT no matter what. As a Denian, I'm all for it. Heck, if somebody wants to give me $20-$30 to use my driveway and walk to the stadium let me know!
  16. Perhaps I was a bit overenthusiastic, but the principle is a good one. 2 for 1 and even the occaisional 3 for 1 are all fine, and if someone is willing to fork out like Georgia will in a few years then okay, but as long as we're in it we need to do what we can to make the Belt as good a league as it can be. Everyone scheduling body bag games against top ten teams makes you look worse than you really are. If we and our SBC sister wives were to limit that type of game it would make a higher percentage of our non-con games much more winnable. We're never going to totally get rid of it, but keeping it to a minimum makes you look better which attracts the kind of people that will make you actually better.
  17. Abso-friggin-lutely! The entire SBC needs to do that. Where is WW?
  18. And behold the Mean Green Angel of Death shall pass over your house. The firstborn of all the heathen Deniaites shall perish.
  19. Can I live if I show you my Mean Green Sports Pass? Or will the 88.1 preset in my car do?
  20. My sentiments exactly. I'm really not sure how many people will go McCormick to Willowood anyway, seems like it would be a little indirect for most. There really aren't, IMHO, that many Denians that get worked up about it. It's just a very vocal minority that makes it very hard for UNT to be an attentive neighbor. It's garbage like this that makes me fearful of a real issue coming up.
  21. Heretic!
  22. I didn't know Marfa HS Football excited people so much, not sure what it has to do with the subject of the thread either.
  23. Mac and Chico rooming together on the top floor of Kerr Tower B? I like it.
  24. I'm from Brazoria County too, and I hope the Tongans kick some pears.
