  1. The reason you feel this way is because people come in with high hopes that we do a full turn around have a break out season. People hype up the team with "This is a 9-3 season! This is a 10 win team!" during the off season and at any small sign of improvement. Then their expectations come crashing down to reality. I like to take a rational view that we won't see a miracle improvement but I'm hoping we build on the good we did from last season and improve on the bad. Do you know when I will believe we are going to have a 9-3 season? When we are 8-3 and playing for it. Until then keep a rational head, take each game at a time and realize that anything can happen in any game. Upsets happen, bad calls happen, dips in performance happen. Is it too much to ask for a little rational reasoning around here?
  2. People are saying this because the few minutes we have seen him in the Idaho game he looks smooth, poised, with good mechanics, and can run. Now I don't know if he is ready to play consistent minutes. You would have to ask those who have insider information on how he stacks up against the other QBs. He may not be any better in there than anyone else for all we know, unfortunately we don't rotate QBs enough to see how they would do. So we will have to continue to trust that the coaching staff is putting the best out there.
  3. or maybe one of these other guys can throw a tight spiral to a receiver? Maybe we have someone else who can take that pocket pressure and make a run? I appreciate all that Thompson has done for us, and that he has improved this year, but its clear he has some limits.
  4. I would like to see some of the other QB's for some plays, we know what DT offers but what about McNulty, BB, or DW?
  5. Agreed, DT is a tough player and comes through for us on some occasions. But many on here have questioned his basic throwing mechanics, decision making, etc. The QB needs to be a player the offense can rally around and sometimes makes something out of nothing. I have hope that DW will be that QB in the future.
  6. Like I have always pointed out "should have, deserve, supposed to, could" have no place in sports. We either do or don't. Stupid mistakes cost us this game, but it was mistakes that WE made. The actions of the field speak louder than any prediction we could make. So where are the homers who are talking about winning CUSA? Where are the homers who talked about such an easy schedule and how we "should" win every game? Each game is a new challenge, each game brings unique situations, and in each game anything is possible. I'll bookmark this thread to remind people next year when they start hyping up the team watching practice footage about how we look so much faster and athletic next year.
  7. Hope the new floor looks nice. I have never liked the green inside the 3 point line.
  8. You have every advantage in your favor, to recruit some of the best talent in the nation, even on special teams. We get dibs after Texas, A&M, TCU, TTech, Baylor, Houston, the SEC, ACC, and teams like Louisville from the AAC. Where was that run that was going to plow through us? Odds are that Whoregia was going to win this game almost every time, there is just too much of a difference there. But give us an equal playing field to be one of the top teams in our state, have that BCS money, and recruit and this well coached team would put up way more of a fight. But then again thats not what you teams want right? You just want to keep us down and take all the $$. So what happens when there is an equal playing field?
  9. all great points, but with hundreds of thousands of people close by we are doing a poor job of marketing to the people close by, especially people in Denton.
  10. My team is North Texas what's yours? I support UNT win, lose, draw, summer, winter, holiday, day, night. I don't care if we lose every game, I will still be there and buy gear/support my school.
  11. I already pointed out my disdain for the Cowboys fanbase in an earlier post. I have no problem with real supporters, but living in Dallas all those years I always heard people say "I love the Cowboys! I'm a lifelong fan! We are the greatest team in History!" then when they lose, have a bad game, or are out of the playoffs, "F the cowboys, I didn't really like them anyway, they are my second team I really root for (so and so)." I have heard this countless times from different people. Just going on personal experience.
  12. I've been a UNT fan since undergrad, going to every game even when we were with Dodge and only getting 1 or 2 wins a season. I was still there, on holiday and breaks. I have no problem with real fans who stick with their teams through thick and thin. UNT could lose every game and I would still be a UNT fan. I don't want bandwagoners at our school if we win. I would rather have 10k hardcore real fans in the stands than a bunch of fickle glory hunters wasting space.
  13. It was just to illustrate a point. You know if they start to win DFW bandwagoners will flock to them. My statement still stands that DFW is a fickle sports starved town. I remember the lines at Dick's Sporting goods to get Rangers shirts when they went to the World Series.
  14. Maybe I needed to make myself more clear. F the cowboys now, and last season, and the next season and and any season they play. The reason is not the team itself, what I hate is the fans. Dallas has got to be the most two faced , bandwagoning town I have ever lived in. Oh the Stars are winning? Look!Look! I'm a Stars fan! The Rangers are winning!?? let me go buy a Rangers shirt! Same with the Mavs etc. There is an air of sports desperation in Dallas, they will cling onto anything that wins.
  15. F the Cowboys. That is all.
  16. Laramie "Two Ton" Lee
  17. Lol I did notice that, and a quick correction to boot.
  18. Just wanted to say that these guys did an outstanding job covering our game. The commentators were on point and knowledgeable, I really enjoyed their analysis of plays and how they stayed focused on the game. I have seen a lot of espn broadcasts and the announcers always get distracted and start talking about another game like Alabama vs. A&M, or during half time just mention our score and talk about nothing besides the other game. Other things I liked; the digital first down and scrimmage lines, the highlight reels just like the big teams get. Just a great, professional product. I am hoping that we get to be on here more.
  19. Definitely. I have given him harsh criticism but you can't ask any more of him. Great game and he toughed it out after hurting his hand on that one play. Great win and let's hope it keeps going!
  20. Yeah I couldn't see the side of the helmet so I didn't bother putting a logo on the side.
  21. Liked the classic look very much. Interesting that some thought about bringing back the dark green as an accent color. Made this quick on photoshop using LSU's pro combat uniform from a few years back. Its hard to tell but the darker stripes, number outline, belt, etc. are dark green. 24. Exactly. Each new season is an unknown until you actually see the team get out there and play. Some are expecting a win just because Idaho went 1-11 last year, they could have a break out year or give us a competitive game or be just as bad. I don't know or pretend to know, I would rather wait and see what happens on the field. Those team's records show that where their fan's thought they were didn't live up to their expectations, or where they "should" have been. People on this board just don't like to think that our expectations could be the wrong ones for this season. If I had a time machine and went back and said we would go 4-8 last season after going 5-7 the first year people would have laughed and said "No we are going at least 6-6 this year. We are bowl bound!" I see the same thing going on, talking about bowl games and 6 or 7 wins. All I'm saying is lets tone it down and be rational. All possibilities are open at this point lets just wait and see how the team does before proclaiming victory.
  25. "Needs" to be doesn't mean "We are." Michigan is at a point that they "needed" to pound Appy state. Last year you don't think Housten "needed" to be at a point where they beat brand new FBS Texas State? Upsets happen all the time, "should, deserve, supposed to" in sports don't make things on the field happen.
