  1. FB and BB are the biggest sports for every university. I just don't see a new sport added until both of those are set up for success in the new conference.
  2. WB already addressed the need to fundraise (and lots of it) when he gave the speech about getting into the AAC. @4:02 and @ 23:14 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDYtGUbQ-TU&ab_channel=MeanGreenSports Should that stop him from laying out a national caliber plan for athletics? It's good to set a high standard for yourself. WB has a plan, now it's up to him and his department to work hard to make it happen. In that same video, at 6:53 says it all. The AC expansion is almost certainly next, so that will take time and fundraising itself. I'm sure they are looking at it through that lens, how much time that will take and how much older the Super Pit will be by then.
  3. Agree, this has always bothered me.
  4. It's fairly clear from this thread that the people asking for baseball is very small. If there is any pushback it will only be from a handful of people. You are free to feel how you want and state your case, but that is simply the reality of the situation.
  5. Or maybe he's trying to do his job and elevate a program to a national caliber level?
  6. Streaming for those that don't have espn+ http://www.blackbolt.ga/2022/03/656d7991.html
  7. I was so confused until I wen't back and re-read my post. 😂
  8. Agreed. Let's hope we learn from pervious teams and emulate their success.
  9. To go along with me previous post I think we need to be completely honest in that our advantages on paper have carried us to our new conferences and not our on field success. Things like location, school size, facilities, Texas recruiting, etc., have gotten us in over other schools. I think we've ridden that train as far as we can, if we want to make the next leap I think we all know that we have to make national level buzz in FB and BB.
  10. We are slowly getting there, each conference move should be seen as a stepping stone to eventually being a P5 team. That might sound crazy, but there have only been 2 conferences that have been poached by P5 teams, the MW and the AAC. In my eyes we are at the doorstep to actually making it happen. The AAC will give us everything we need to make the leap, it's up to North Texas to make the right choices so it can come to fruition. Make no mistake, every other team in that conference is looking for that chance as well, it's up to UNT to show why they deserve it.
  11. Focus. UTSA would like nothing more than to ruin our streak. Don't overlook anybody.
  12. Sweet 16. Easy.
  13. Agree on the media portion. I disagree on the legal portion. I don't have hard evidence, but I suspect the SBC3 offered an insultingly low offer as a penalty for leaving. Rumors say an offer was made, but no one has said how much. Maybe I'm wrong on this and I fully admit that, that's just how it looks to me from the outside. If that's how it went down, I don't see what other options CUSA had. I also find it odd that if the 3 wanted out, why not go to arbitration and allow a neutral 3rd party decide who and how much they owe?
  14. All of you don't think she is really in her office by herself making these decisions right? You do realize CUSA has an entire legal team that is deciding the direction they go.
  15. Again, my point is that more capacity doesn't always equal more revenue. We would need to compare revenue of ticket sales from when they reduced capacity. I tried to look up numbers, but couldn't find anything. It's the same reason NFL stadiums seat 60k-70k. They could add* 30k more seats and still sell out games, they don't because having a lower capacity allows more ticket demand and higher prices. *typo
  16. I didn't, I always thought they practiced at The Pit.
  17. Another thing I think about is what would the BB teams want? If they decide to build a state of the art BB practice facility next to Apogee and remain playing at the Pit would that mean the players would only come over for games? Would the players feel a weird disconnect with their home court? Would they rather have everything in 1 place (practice, film rooms, weight rooms, etc.) even if it meant walking over instead of having things split? Their input should also be heavily considered.
  18. Some things we don't think about is less capacity means more ticket demand when seats are regularly sold out. That means higher ticket prices and more revenue for the AD. You said it yourself, Houston, a Final 4 team didn't deem it necessary to have an arena bigger than 7k. I have no doubt they did a thorough analysis of different capacities and they chose what's best for them.
  19. I can say I don't think I've ever watched during halftime 😂
  20. Agree. I see people badmouthing Stadium all the time on this site, but I've never had a problem watching their games and their production is excellent.
  21. Anything can de done with enough money, the issue is weighing the cost of remodeling/building new. As has been discussed many times on this forum the Super Pit would have to be completely gutted to do a meaningful renovation which means it will be the same cost or maybe more of building a new arena. In my mind the two options are tear the Super Pit down fully and build a new arena, or leave the Pit and build a new arena next to Apogee. Each solution has pros and cons.
  22. No doubt it will help, but with a bigger conference comes bigger spending(at least if you want to be successful.) Higher athletics salaries, bigger and better facilities upgrades, bigger budgets. We spend 40m now, so 5m in payout isn't as much if you want to be spending 60-70m. That's what schools like UCF, Cincy, Memphis, and Houston do, and that's what it takes to be successful at a national level. I don't know how those schools do it, if it's from donors/fees/state funds/etc.
  23. It shows how for from that level we are because I think there are all base figures. Memphis: 2.5m Houston: 3.1m SMU: 2m Cincy: 1.3m (2.2m before Cronin left to UCLA) UCF: 1.1m WSU: 1m Possibly an even bigger deal is how large the coaching pool is for assistants. It's the real foundation of a successful program.
  24. I'll add that those incentives on Coach Mac's salary are guaranteed (I'm assuming he gets those for every year he comes back.) It makes me wonder what other incentives are in his contract?
  25. IIRC it's 800k, I don't know how it compares to everyone else. I would guess it's near the top.
