Portal opens up in a couple of weeks

Let's not forget the "Let's wait and see what's left." approach UNT took last year in the portal... -
Mountain West looking to catch up to the American
Green Otaku replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
One thing to worry about is upsetting the eastern schools. Adding CSU and AF would be good but they push the conference even more towards the west. Good for us, but it's making the east look a little sparse. I'm sure they would want someone like App. St.- 34 replies

Our RBs have been excellent. Our offense has too many 3 and outs/red zone/sustained drive problems for me to feel confident about keeping Bloesch. I was not a fan of the "Let's wait and see what's left in the portal" approach to recruiting last year. They didn't go after much in the early signing period and settled for whatever was left. I think you need to go back and see how unhappy people were during that time.
-
Interested as to why you would want to keep Bloesch on? I would think much of our gripes about offense would fall on him; QB play, play calling, schemes, execution, recruiting, etc.

What does it take for Seth to stay now?

This just shows SL can't win the tough games. Outside of WKU there hasn't been a game that he should lose, but won instead. One solid win and loses to UNLV, Memphis, SMU, UTSA, and UAB. Just think about that, it's not a good outlook for the future. Multiply this over multiple years and you can sum up this era. -
i don’t think we can afford the status quo

True. Plus they may be playing for bowl eligibility that game. -

It's time for a change. I know it, you know it, and I hope WB knows it. I would have my mind made up if I was the AD, but I'm sure SL will get the chance to finish out the season and if he can get to the CCG/win it he will get a chance to stay. -
I think if a player is going to leave, he will leave regardless. Everyone was worried about losing players last year if SL was let go, and we lost players anyway. It's better to let people go who want to, and rebuild with those that want to stay and play for a new coach.

I know this isn't the most important part of your post but technically..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiJ9fy1qSFI&ab_channel=CoolBannanas13579

The ultimate blame lies on those who built this team. Those who recruited/lost recruitment battles, and who coached/developed those players. Losing a game here and there because a player makes a mistake happens, but your overall body of work is made up of what you were able to bring here and how you made it perform on the field.

And that's why CUSA isn't taken seriously.
-
What I mean is they had the chances, they were up against the wall on many plays including the 3rd and 1 and couldn't get it done. Sometimes you can play poorly but come in clutch to save a drive. This offense can't do it vs. a good defense.
-
We wasted great field position 2 times and were unable to get anything done. This offense can't come in clutch when they face a stout defense.
-
I've said it from start 8-4 or cut him loose. It's time, I don't care about the championship game.
-
Need the offense to come in big now.
-
We have a bye week IIRC so not fully. Let guys who are banged up recover, but you need to keep guys in playing condition so they would be ready to go in the championship game and not be rusty. But let's win this game first. We need to go show we can win the tough games like this.
-
I thought it was just jockeying too, but when they showed the replay I thought I saw the receiver hold his hands down and push off when the ball was coming in. They only showed it once and the commentators didn't seem to think anything of it so I don't know.
-
Was that offensive PI on the play after the sack? I can't remember if that was Texada, but it looked like the receiver held his hands down.
-
We need defense to shore things up this drive. Offense came through, we need them to get it done on their side of the ball.
-
I'm surprised we haven't seen Earle yet.
-
Yes, but for an even more practical reason; to help distinguish the teams. I must imagine the QBs are having to really make sure who's who before they make throws.
-
Teams really need to get together and work out uniforms better. Why are both teams wearing white helmets? UAB should have their gold helmets on.

Here we go again? Conference Changes?
Green Otaku replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I think the Pac will survive in some form, but it will be watered down. The question is how watered down will it be? Just USC/UCLA or will other also leave? I don't see quality replacements left on the level of UCF/Cincy/Houston if they can't get BYU to join. Who can they really pull from? SDSU is not on that level and they are their best choice. I don't see any current or future Big12 members taking that deal. Plus the Big12 payout is huge, something like $80m, the Pac12's is running out in 2025 with no penalty if they leave. As to why it hasn't happened yet conferences need time to crunch the numbers and get their deals in place. No one is going to move without having everything hammered out, they have no urgency to. Honestly if I were BYU I'd want to stick it to the Pac for leaving them out for so many years.
