  1. One more loss and the axe should fall immediately after. SL is walking up the scaffolding unless he makes a miracle run.
  2. This part of the schedule is the true test. The past few games have been nice wins and all of the credit to the team and coaches, but it hasn't changed my overall outlook for the team. If they can win Saturday maybe that changes and I start to believe they have turned the corner.
  3. And if he lost every game after and went 5-7 what then? Oh well, at least we beat UTSA? Making a choice like that with so much season left would be a huge mistake. Let's see where the season goes, IMO it should be 8-4 to warrant him being here next year.
  4. I don't think there are divisions this year, so it will be the top 2 in the standings in the champ game this year. I could be wrong, but that's what I thought was happening this year since the 3 left to the SBC.
  5. 8-4 nothing less.
  6. I'd guess because chrome reflects light differently than cotton or even coated plastic.
  7. Bold plan, no one can criticize you if they don't know who you are....
  8. You guys think we break tradition? Look at UCF, and those unis look magnificent.
  9. I have been against the people wanting to put WB on the hot seat for the current state of FB as I think he's handled this in the most patient and professional way possible, but if he were to allow a 6-6 SL to continue that'd be indefensible. Let's hope for the good of the program he makes the right choice with however this season unfolds.
  10. When the playoffs expand they'd be smart to change the bowl eligibility to 7-5. The non-CFP bows will be pushed down even further in importance, so why not reduce the number of bowls played?
  11. Thanks for the info and I agree. If he is even a possibility I hope he gets a strong look.
  12. That's because the USC campus is in south central which is a predominantly hispanic neighborhood, so they kind of adopt USC as the local team. It's one of those weird curiosities, USC the expensive private school is in a terrible neighborhood, while UCLA; the public and cheaper school is next to Bel-Air.
  13. Talking about P5 rebounders, I thought people were pretty high on Justin Fuente?
  14. *cough cough* But what you say is true, even so how about an undefeated #15 team in the country? It's a pretty bad look any way you slice it. 😬
  15. Isn't that the band sitting in their section on the left edge of the picture?
  16. I don't know if I would say powerhouse. Maybe in basketball, but for football I wouldn't use that as a description. We think that things at UNT are unique, but UCLA (and many others suffer from the same problem.) Student and fan apathy for sports has always been an issue, it's just a west coast thing. The LA sports culture is show up late and leave early to try and beat traffic. Students at UCLA are smart, they talk more about midterms, the crushing quarter system, and GPAs more than sports. You think it's hard for UNT to compete with all of the DFW attractions? LA has 2 NFL teams, 2 NBA teams, 2 MLB if you count the Angels, an actual football powerhouse in USC, hockey, etc. Plus on a Friday night you can either spend an hour and a half getting to a game in Pasadena or you can go down to Santa Monica beach in 20 mins with your friends. How do I know? I live here. My wife graduated from UCLA, worked at UCLA, I've been to UCLA football and basketball games. In my decade plus of living here I've met 1 hardcore UCLA fan.
  17. The Rose Bowl is 26 miles away , on a Friday night, you really have to want to go to a game to sit in traffic for almost 2 hours to go to a game. There's a complimentary shuttle for students, and even then it's hard to get kids to go.
  18. I'd be interested in what was being talked about behind the scenes. I'm sure the Big12 has crunched the numbers on what bringing in 2 to 4 of those schools would do. The Big12 could have struck after UCLA/USC was announced, but I wonder if they held off, or if the remaining schools wanted to wait and see what happens in the PAC?
  19. The problem isn't the lowered pay out, it's that schools might actually bail if the payout is that low. This could create a domino affect where one or two teams leave, lowering the deal even more, which then makes others leave, etc. This could be a very quick and nasty collapse if it all goes bad. $16m would be almost half of the next lowest P5, the ACC* that gets $30.9m a year. The Big12 get $43m a year, you can bet that the AZ, CO, and UT schools are going to jump if they have a chance. (correction, I wish the AAC payed out $30m 😆)
  20. I held my tongue when it was announced because I thought maybe it would bring in some $$, but it's a weird situation. Imagine a workplace where the old manager was fired, you were made manager, but the old manager still hung around and then was given a position that raised money for your company.
  21. Even that will have some new dorms built on it. IIRC the future plan was to close campus off more so there is less empty space and replace the lost parking space with multi-story lots like the one close to Kerr. It makes sense, buying land outside of campus is expensive and unpopular if you demolish an iconic place students like to hang out at.
