  1. The biggest issue is those empty seats are happening when we are in the best era of basketball in our history.
  2. Yes, Martinez is on his last year of eligibility.
  3. I think the early season struggles were natural from all of the turnover from last year. Bell was a huge loss, you just don't find players like that very often. McBride was a great shooter and good for double digits almost every game, and Murray was a defensive wall. Jones is no longer starting this season, so you have 1 player returning in the starting line up in Ousmane. With so many changes it's going to take time to iron out the details. Most of it to me is learning Mac's system and the players learning each other's tendencies so they get comfortable playing together. I'm hoping next year we have a little more consistency as we should only be losing Eady from the starting lineup.
  4. Because it's better to be set in your defensive scheme than try to contest the ball rolling in. Sending a player up to challenge the roll in, which would usually be the point guard, might stretch the court out and allow another one of their players to move up uncontested into the space they leave.
  5. Yeah you could tell they were pretty riled up in the stands.
  6. I was so excited about the win it made me forget that this was the worst called game I've seen all year. Every home announcer is going to favor their team, but these guys were straight up homers. Whining about every call, I specifically remember the play where Ousmane and two UTEP guys fell going for the a rebound, and they were saying it was a foul. They showed the replay and the guy's own teammate hit him going down, but they still talked about Ousman fouling him. Oh and they were asking, "Why is that ref blowing his whistle. It seems suspicious that McCasland just talked to him and they get a foul."Knowing you are on a broadcast stream with both sets of fans watching have some gd integrity and dial it back a bit.
  7. Terrible reffing all around. Can't even fight for the ball without getting it called a foul. The technical really made the refs whistle happy.
  8. The bench came up huge in this game. Lets Go Mean Green!!!
  9. Not growing as much as it should be. @keith has been tracking attendance and we are most likely finishing lower than last year on average. We've only average 325 more people per game this year vs last, and we have 5 seasons of winning basketball. This team should be averaging 6k a game.
  10. How cool would it be to do a throwback night for basketball? They could recreate this classic floor (with the modern green of course) and wear vintage uniforms.
  11. I was at that game, really good crowd and energy. Those baggy uniforms from that era look ridiculous now. 😂
  12. Also was it just me or did the guys look a little ragged tonight. They looked like they were breathing hard and winded in the 2nd half. Short bench didn't help I guess, no Martinez.
  13. That and I also think Huntsberry is really hitting his stride now. He's figured out where he fits on the floor, and what he can do that other can't. He has been driving so much to the lane and looking very good doing it.
  14. We'd laugh at you either way.
  15. It's always tough to play in Ruston, we got out to a big lead last time and let Tech get back in the game. Let's hope we do the same thing but keep our foot on their throats.
  16. I think we can all just be glad you aren't making any decisions at any level.
  17. Is this about the athletic center? I fail to see how this has anything to do with a new basketball arena.
  18. I can't remember who in the BB thread was saying they should give out 4 free tickets for any game to every household in the city of Denton. Just get people there and build a connection. Something like that might be a nice thing for football as well.
  19. Is this true? I didn't know you were forced to move out after freshman year. They've built several new dorms since I graduated, I would have thought they had a good handle on the on campus housing side of things.
  20. +1 for "The Stadium Formerly Known as Apogee." Really clever 😂
  21. I think the problem is deeper rooted than just "art kids don't like sports." If that were true and they make up maybe 8k of the student population we would have 36k other students clamoring to get into games. There is a large apathy across the board that doesn't see UNT athletics as a worthwhile investment. The AD really needs to hire a firm and do some in depth analysis as to why students do attend and what it would take them to.
  22. We are 5 years away from Benford, with a fantastic coach, an NCAA upset over Purdue, and multiple seasons of wins in the 20s. Winning is doing nothing for attendance on the BB side.
  23. My other post was getting long so I wanted to create a 2nd one about the bolded quote about the 6 ACC schools remaining. Here is a map of the ACC: Let's say the SEC takes FSU, Clemson, UNC, Virginia, and the Big10 takes Syracuse, Louisville, Pitt, and ND (if they say no it could be anyone but I'll say BC to make things easy. That still leaves Miami, GT, NC State, Duke, WF, and VT. Can you really say those team names don't hold power? There's just no way those teams get absorbed by the AAC. They will take Temple, Memphis, USF, Navy, and whoever else has made a name for themselves in the G5.
