  1. Right, but the Big West doesn't sponsor football. So there's no conflict with them playing football in the MWC.
  2. It's funny how all of the SMU posters come crawling out from the floorboards. Where were you all during the PAC12 extravaganza? I remember so many of you posting all the time at the beginning and then for some reason stopped?
  3. That just seems like it would open a huge can of worms. You couldn't stop any team from having teams across multiple conferences.
  4. I'd have to look it up, but I was certain I saw that you can't split sports between conferences. If the conference you are in sponsors that sport, you must play in that conference. For example Cal could put fb in the ACC and the rest of it's sports in the WCC since the WCC doesn't sponsor football. However it cannot put bb in the ACC while keeping the rest in the WCC since they do sponsor bb. As for your question I don't think a conference like that exists.
  5. What's important to WSU https://news.wsu.edu/news/2023/08/22/wsu-athletics-advisory-committee-to-review-conference-affiliation-options/
  6. If only the two are left it's going to come down to who can offer the most $$$. Fox vs Apple Vs ESPN. ESPN offers $7m in the AAC, will they be willing to bump that up with those 2 as the only additions? Fox offers $4m in the MWC, if they can match what they AAC gives what's the motivation to move further east and add to travel expenses? If Apple is really wanting to get into the cfb market would they still offer a deal of a rebuilt PAC and how much? I don't think Fox or ESPN would cannibalize their assets by offering a deal to rebuild the PAC.
  7. Why are you giving a random twitter poster the authority to speak for an entire university?
  8. I think it's a good message to send. Hard work and being hungry will be rewarded. Putting Rodgers out there would have been the safe option that everyone would have expected, so I have to give it to the staff for having a fair and open shot at being QB1.
  9. Sounds like both guys did enough in practice with Earle getting the advantage. The question is can either guy perform the same under the lights? Seems like the coaches want to see both under real game conditions.
  10. I liked the green full SOW ones. I also liked the version with just the feathers, particularly the chrome one. *sidenote, IIRC I don't think people liked these grey jerseys but they looked really sharp.
  11. Haha yes, but they are waiting by choice is what I am trying to say. They are choosing to wait, not being forced to wait by Stanford. They aren't going to give up the monetary gain of having Stanford in a conference with them. WSU/OSU/CAL have the ability to do something now if they really wanted to, that's a 3-1 vote on any action. @Arkstfan put it perfectly:
  12. WSU/OSU are only waiting around because it benefits them monetarily. If it didn't they would have made a move, they aren't locked in some room with nowhere to go. They know they have to look out for themselves and they will have a threshold of how long they are willing to wait. So far they are willing to wait, I'd guess that this is the final week they are willing to wait before telling Stanford if they need to decide if they are in or out.
  13. Exactly. They are working behind the scenes with what they can control, and preparing a plan for different scenarios. They aren't going to jump just to do something, they will wait for the best plan which will most likely be the plan with the most $$$.
  14. In depth discussion with WSU president. It's clear they have been working behind the scenes and ran through multiple scenarios with different teams and configurations. They aren't just sitting on their hands doing nothing.
  15. Douches, jerks, inconsiderate, self-centered, self-serving, callous, are all words that I could describe leaving your conference mates hanging. I'm not sure what elitism has to do with that. It's been reported that Luck is working for OSU/WSU so they aren't just sitting around waiting on Stanford. They are working through different scenarios and seeing what gets them the most money.
  16. There are people on these boards that have insider knowledge of the lengths UNT has gone to try to move itself up. Every school would do what was possible to try and get to a better situation. The reality is there is still a small chance the ACC would take them, until that's off the table they will continue to pursue it.
  17. It would have been really interesting if Aresco would have kept the Big East name, we would have had a case study on what life for an old AQ league would have been like after losing its top teams. Even saying Big East, the name still carries weight in my opinion. We'd be in the Big East now instead of the American.
  18. That would be the safer option too IMO. While we wouldn't have the chance to strengthen the AAC by adding 3/4, it would also make it unlikely that OSU/WSU could poach any of the AAC.
  19. How does it come across that they think they are better? They have worked for decades to get to where they are, invested hundreds of millions of dollars, why would we be surprised that joining the AAC/MWC is not something they would be interested in? Did we build DATCU and the Pit to be with SHSU or ACU? Would we be snobs for feeling like we would only be conference mates with them as a last resort? *sidenote, I don't know who keeps eyerolling you but it's not me.
  20. That is literally what they are trying to do. They are by reports 1 vote away from making it happen. Going to the AAC is a last resort, we have to be honest here. They are going to exhaust every option until then.
  21. I commend you for actually answering the question. People are running with the narrative that Stanford is snobby, elitist, too good for us, etc., but we would be doing the exact same thing, trying to position UNT in the best conference/situation possible. It just comes off as hypocritical and lacking self-awareness. Why wouldn't they look for the best possible outcome?
  22. You nor @UNTLifer have answered the question, you just keep skirting it. Going indy/olympics in southland, or joining CUSA. Would you be happy with either of those two options for UNT?
  23. Also Stanford is in the top 3 viewership of the PAC.
