  1. There is definitely uncertainty, but my post had to do about timing. The PAC isn't going to make a decision early if it doesn't have to. Right now they are looking at media numbers in various scenarios and trying to see what's possible. They aren't going to prematurely take TxSt if a better option is out there. Keith was asking why did they not just take TxSt already? Because they don't have to yet, no other reason.
  2. Not at all. The PAC has a few more months to work things out, so why rush? While it's true they would want Memphis and Tulane, they have their wishlist and will work down the pecking order with however their media deal turns out. We just haven't gotten to that point yet.
  3. IMO an undeniable and egregious flop should be a flagrant 1.
  4. Agree, the game was looking wrapped up before the Walker foul. There was another point late in the 2nd half where one of their guys sets a screen on Walker, Walker tries to get around, gets his arm held by the screener as he's trying to get back to Mashburn who is wide open for a 3. No call. I about lost it.
  5. I'd love to see that implemented at the college level.
  6. No one knows the specifics of the deal, it's not public knowledge. People are waiting for this year's tax returns so they can see the public data that shows how much each school made, and then see how much it changes over the next few years. So unfortunately all we know is that by the end of the contract everyone will be making the same amount, and that's it.
  7. Sissoko has just been a different player in conference and I'm here for it. Lorient of course was MVP, but Massie and Floyd need some props for coming through this game. We really need for them to give us 6-8 points a game consistently and we are going to be looking good. Horrible foul call on Walker on that 3. Also they need to change the rules where you can't move your arm into a defenders hands that are already there to create contact for a foul, that's absurd. You can't even stand there as a defender? It needs to end.
  8. That's why TxSt is such an easy choice for them, especially if the media deal turns out to be disappointing. $5M to leave the SBC, which TxSt will have no problem paying, gets them into TX, gets them into the central time zone, and most importantly buys them time.
  9. The PAC owes the MWC $55M for the schools they took, what's not clear is if they are helping pay the $18M exit fees for these schools which are separate from the poaching fee. If they are that's another $90M. You throw in 2 AAC schools and that's $54M is you pay the full exit or $34M if you cover the extra over the $10M normal exit fee. Worst case scenario you are looking at $200M, and W/OSU do not want to spend their entire war chest, they need that money to try to keep spending like they are a P4.
  10. Let's hope the dept. is doing their due diligence and looking at this thing from every angle. I think we have to remember that we just got done giving up 2 years of conference distribution from CUSA (including our 2 NCAA games in 2021, and FAU's final four run), exit fees from CUSA, having to pay entrance fees for the AAC, and we'd have to give up distribution and pay exit fees again if we leave the AAC. I'm not saying we don't consider it, but we have to go for a deal that makes sense. For instance a partial share deal for the PAC would be a non-starter.
  11. It's one of the reasons the AAC added 6. We 6 split 3 full shares, and ESPN gets additional content of 3 other schools at no extra cost.
  12. Yes, that's what I was referring to, maybe my wording didn't come off that way. I should have worded it more clearly and said since the PAC was traditionally a western conference adding teams in the central time zone that's more populated is what media partners would want.
  13. Yes, the media partners are definitely interested in central time zone slots. It gives them more windows of inventory as well as exposure in the more populated areas of the country. If there is a possibility of a move as a block now or in the future we need to be doing all we can to be one of those teams.
  14. TxSt is at the right place, at the right time. Tulane and Memphis said no, UNLV and AFA got tied down to the MWC for extra money, it looks like the PAC doesn't want to bring up an FCS school, the AAC options come with a $27M exit fee hurdle. Who else is out there? NMSU? SHSU? The PAC needs to have an 8th full member before July 1st 2026 to keep their FBS designation. They don't have time to wait for options. They need to get schedules, and media partners settled. TxSt pays $5M to get out of the SBC, a very accessible number.
  15. Agree, everything will depend on the dollar amounts. $12M a team and I think we see some teams making the jump, personally I'm just not sure if they can get much more than what the AAC gets. If the AAC media deal does drop significantly in 2032 I would expect teams to move then, plus you would have no exit fees since you are in between contracts similar to how the Pac12 fell apart. We'll see soon enough who their media partner will be, and what kind of appetite they have for content.
  16. I think it's better to move in silence. SDSU completely embarrassed themselves when they left the MWC without having a PAC invite, only to come back to the conference. You don't air out your dirty laundry for the whole country to see. Good admins keep things tight lipped until something is ready to happen. I don't have any inside sources, but I can guarantee you that Mosley and other ADs are talking to each other, trying to position themselves if the money is there for a move, and trying to gain favor with schools so that they would advocate that we go with them.
  17. From the outside looking in Sissoko seems like a gentle giant, like he doesn't realize he's a beast. Agree on kudos for the fans, even the commentators were saying, "What is this? A UNT home game?"
  18. It's been reported that the AAC deal will rise through the years so we would eventually get a full share. https://www.agent49.net/the-charlotte-49ers-are-american-athletic-conference-bound/ Assuming the AAC doesn't lose anyone, we would really need to weigh if paying the hefty exit fee and substantial travel would be worth it when we could be making close to $8M a year by the end of this deal.
  19. Normally Walker would be in there soaking up 20-25 mins on average to make an 8 man rotation, unless you meant in the event that someone else would get injured or sick. It makes me wonder if they are trying to protect anyone's redshirt?
  20. No problem. Coach's decision on what to do there and how to play it. You have two of their guys trying to trap you right from the inbound, so you in theory when you break the press there should be a 3 v 4 man disadvantage for them and 1 of our guys should be completely open. You can then punish them by scoring a quick and open/easy bucket, and if you do it enough it is a way to discourage them from committing to the press since they are getting punished for it. If they press, and you hold off after getting the ball past mid-court and let them get into their defense they see no reason to stop pressing, you aren't going to punish them for it so why should they stop? The other side of course is that you don't burn clock, give them more possessions, and if you aren't used to playing quick you might make mistakes when scoring/passing/dribbling. Coaches get paid to make the right choice on what to do in these situations.
  21. From what I've seen in the last few games is they like to press with length. Wright and Jossell are the best ball handlers, but are the 2 shortest on our team and struggle with getting trapped, so Hodge has switched to Massie or Floyd bringing the ball up who aren't point guards. We also aren't punishing them when we break the press because the other teams know we are going to back off and take our time, they don't have to worry about a fast break. If the other team is going to defend us that hard I'd like to see us aggressively drive through them and make them foul us.
  22. I've been really happy about the way Sissoko has been playing the last couple of games. His game has always been more about getting a pass and going at the bucket and not so much just posting up, he looks to finally get where he is supposed to be during offensive plays, he's been aggressive going up for rebounds. Let's hope he continues to play this way. Stone got 3 mins, we basically payed 7 yesterday. I'm surprised none of the other guards on the bench got any minutes.
  23. Legally I don't think it's possible right now. You would need an exemption granted by Congress like the NFL has, otherwise contracts would not be allowed because of antitrust laws. From Google
  24. Yup, the deals will decide how everything goes and who will have future leverage.
