  1. including the championship game, six.
  2. When faith and politics are used as a front to hide a lack of institutional control in an athletic department, it's not.
  3. I hear this term thrown around a lot by sleazebag politicians, child molestors, coaches who hide sexual assault, racist hypocrites, and Ted Cruz. I understand the majority of the people on here that are of the Christian faith are those with high morals and not liars or cheaters but can institutions please stop saying this? Places like Baylor, and Liberty (future conference usa member????) say this, but I feel like they're just a front for bigotry and lies. Once again, not an attack on any of you. I just think the term is thrown around wayyy too much, and it slanders the efforts of those of you who carry yourselves in a purposeful way.
  4. I'm sure some of you will make this into a "OMG he's a Democrat" post but a former fraternity brother of mine and former SGA President Dakota Carter won the runoff for the nomination for Texas State Board of Education Place 6. He's a great guy and in residency and has some great ideas for Texas education, and he's not a nutjob like that woman who thought Obama was a gay prostitute. Anyway, give him a look. And if you're in Houston, remember his name come November. Dakota Carter
  5. True. A UNT gig might restrict him. Would wonder about pay too.
  6. This may be wishful thinking, but one guy who always promotes UNT is Johnny Quinn. He's really made a name for himself both in the corporate boardrooms, and in the public education world. This guy is always promoting UNT, and is a great ambassador. I could see him doing well in some sort of fundraising role. Thoughts?
  7. Ok, Rick's gone. Cool. Put yourself in the shoes of the new AD. What's the first order of business for you? For me, I'm calling every alum who stopped donating within the past 5 years, finding out why, and either giving them a ticket, or offering some kind of incentive to come back into the UNT fold. I'm also restocking the athletic department with Diet Coke.
  8. Have a few friends in the development and fundraising world of college athletics, and this name was given to me as a possible candidate. http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=208803515 Not a bad resume. OU, Cowboys, Alabama. Seems like a home run hire to me.
  9. Guys, guys, we know the reason why this happened. He couldn't handle the @UNT90 heat. His posts caught up to RV
  10. Jordan Case for AD. Free Lexus's for everyone!
  11. We of GMG.com should all pitch it and have it go to each member of the forum (UNT fans only) on a rotating basis
  12. Any HS fb coaches out there? I'm writing a few articles for a company I work for, and was hoping to get some Mean Green representation. If you're a high school coach, please PM me. I would be eternally grateful.
  13. Home and Home in 2019, 2020
  14. Can't believe our journalism school, which is supposed to be one of the prides and joys of this university, has only two professors qualified to teach a course about newscasts
  15. So I was talking to a coach (not gonna say who or what school in case he reads this board) but we got to talking about benford, and his thought was that if Benford has another bad season, UNT might go after a coach currently coaching in the junior college ranks.... Billy Gillespie.
  16. Naw, every coach, NAIA- Division 1 is out there.... ran into Shaka Smart, Jim Groce, Rob Evans, some Wake Forest guys. Great networking and there are required meetings for coaches to go to. Though I did hear some interesting rumors...
  17. Actually ran into him at the NABC convention on Friday and did an interview with him....
  18. He hit a pole. Still sounds super weird. Could Todd not drive?
  19. Has anyone emailed the regents yet? Has anyone received a response? Would be nice to see someone speak out.
  20. Where are the jobs where you get paid handsomely for on the job training, do an awful job with great resources,, and still get retained year after year? How come they aren't on Indeed?
  21. South by Southwest starts in Austin on Friday with a keynote from President Obama. There's some great panels and things to do this year and I know there's a few of you who are tech/media/music/film enthusiasts. I don't have a badge, but I was wondering, are any other Mean Greeners coming down to Austin for SXSW?
  22. I know we bash the AD and the department in general but this stuff is important. Show that you care about what you do.
  23. This is a really big deal- only 115 universities nationwide have this distinction. It's not a CUSA Football championship, but this helps UNT get more respect re: academics
  24. I figured. And you're right about finding links for HS coaches. on a&M website all i had to do was click extra and "High School Coaches" was there, Baylor all you do is go down to THSCA and click how many... i cant find it anywhere for us.
