Too many people on this board take too many things way too seriously

I know Scrappy has been our mascot for many years. But to me, it seems that their (playing into modern gender roles here) disinterest and general apathy when it comes to firing up the crowd really make a difference on how students and five year olds going to their first games feel about UNT The players treat them as a barrier to get around during warmups...and the dancing often portrays someone that has a less than healthy relationship with the product on the field. The coaches caravans (when they feel like coming) and other community events have a different feel, but they just seem off when it comes to their full support of UNT. Is it time for a new mascot for UNT? I'm sure that Scrappy is a nice eagle and I wish them no harm, especially since Eagles are considered endangered species (both the animal and the fickle UNT football fan). But it seems to me that some positive energy and more hip thrusting during games couldn't hurt!

I'm frustrated about the losses but I'm more frustrated is that in many of them, especially in recent years, we haven't been competitive.

We talk about standards but odus Mitchell was also 60 years ago. if we really want to play technicalities than technically Seth has raised the standard- minimum 6 wins at unt and a bowl bid. To do more, we have to find a bar raiser

I still am one to believe that we dont end up sharing a conference with them unfortunately. They'll find a way out. Also, you can have more than 1 rival. Helps with excitement throughout the season.

SMU is not different. We've gotten our butts whooped by them the past 3 years and 7 of the past nine. We dont compete too much in other sports and they dont care nor do they draw well. I know we want them to be a rival but they dont care UTSA is different. Series is 5-4, there have been blowouts the last 3 years but each game has brought some significance of wrecking the others season. We also compete against each other in other sports- we lead all of em but its pretty close I think. Theyre the ones that will fill Apogee when they come- not SMU, their fans support the program and theyre a big public institution too. I'd love SMU to be a rival but we have to win more and they have to care too. UTSA is a fun rival - let's embrace it.

I'd say its the nature of the world of work. Always be interviewing- we constantly want to know our value. We are 100% a stepping stone job right now. No shame in that. If Wren moves up that just means his colleagues thought highly of him. What's most important is that we get the next hire right.

When you are the highest paid coach in the conference and have all the facilities at your disposable there's no reason for you to say a bad word

UTSA put up a fight saturday and people were talking about it all over social media. it got way more attention than us hosting an FCS school. Oh... and remember the Arkansas game? Or thE Georgia game where we were tied at halftime?
