  1. It sucks, but I was more interested in the rest of the story: https://www.kens5.com/article/sports/ncaa/ncaaf/utsa-quarterback-frank-harris-holds-press-conference-to-announce-future-plans/273-ed8737a9-fc95-4026-9288-80e95ae75174 He's got the whole SA business community behind him.
  2. I would hate to have you as a hiring manager.
  3. He has $1.6 million reasons not to be mad. We didn't screw him over either.
  4. this is exactly what i was thinking of. Colby Carthel is the human form of that thing from I, Robot.
  5. UNLV failed with the Tony Sanchez high school hire as well. Honestly, I think the best way to go about it for high school coaches is the Traylor/McGuire route- High school HC, then prominent positions on a college staff, then College HC. This way, you understand the infrastructure. Dodge did a lot of good things off the field (Stadium) but a high school scheme that doesn't adjust doesnt work
  6. Sorry to offend probably everyone on this board, but I steer clear when I hear something like this. People who lead with this, or “god fearing” usually are full of s*** . We’re not liberty.
  7. Has Colby really done enough at SFA? Also his dad had only 1 year at WT when we hired Dodge....
  8. He looks like the "Create a player" linebacker from Madden 2003.
  9. Their soccer team did beat us in the semis though 😞
  10. I feel like a lot of football coaches (high school, college and Pro) are kind of the same- meathead, cliche, same ole ideas. There's something about Grant McCasland, in that he's a sales guy, brainy, but also appeals to the faith-based (goes over big in Texas) crowd as well. He's a big motivator as well. I tend to think of Wren Baker as a thinker as well (with an aptitude for sales) At UNT, we need someone who can do the following: - Sell the program, and motivate people to come (we're a fickle bunch) - Understand our limitations and find creativity around it - Really be a catalyst for community engagement - Be a personality - Be a thinker when it comes to promotions I never thought Dodge, Dickey (he had a personality, not the right one), McCarney (salesman, but not aware of modern trends) or Littrell had any of these. Sonny Dykes had some at SMU. Who else has these?
  11. If so, kinda cool that our little ole message board beat out the national outlets....
  12. I grade Seth differently based on the fact that no other UNT head football coach had this kind of admin support, salary and facility investment. Based on this investment and expectation, and relative to the performance of his G5 peers, he underperformed. Seth made bowl games a bare minimum expectation- that's his legacy
  13. Sadly, so did this guy
  14. The obsession a few of you have with Art Briles is kinda weird to be honest. At least 100 Schools from NAIA to FBS have had head coaching searches in the past few years and not one has seriously considered Briles. That should tell you everything. Instead he’s coaching in Italy which if I’m being honest is probably a nice retirement gig. He’s 67, never apologized for creating the culture of sexual assault he did at Baylor, and hasn’t coached fbs in 7 years. If Liberty, which would be his most likely landing spot (maybe Oral Roberts if they had a team) didn’t even consider him why would we? There are plenty of good coaches without a past that’d be great here. and if you’re doing this to troll the board…. I admire the consistent trolling
  15. WB definitely wasn’t fired
  16. Money wise yes. But the top players are defecting over there yet
  17. I like the Gardner hire and what Wren had tasked her to do, she just started and I think she could make some positive inroads with regards to branding, NIL and leadership. When you say people he's tried to oust- is that Capper, Adams, etc? I dont mind Capper (he does what he's supposed to do) and Adams could be more creative, but who else? I'm glad they got rid of Batchelder. I like Peck, I could see him going with Wren.
  18. Is this a college bowl thread or a conversation debating the merits of neglected urban cores?
  19. Kason had a happy thanksgiving. His season ended and he tossed the pigskin around with his family, ate some turkey, and really looked forward to his break. he’s looking forward to providing you all with more updates next season
  20. Our fans are a way too fickle and apathetic to waste thanksgiving weekend on a rivalry game. I definitely think the game should be some time in november though
  21. This 100%. Literally a participation banner.
  22. I hope the majority of people reading this thread know who this man is...
  23. Leadership experience- Yes Worked in small and large organizations - Yes (Dallas and Argyle, so he knows how both types operate) Would go for slightly less than $1.8 million - Yes Knows the area - Yes Would not use this as a stepping stone - Yes Would appeal to the donors - Yes (insert political comment here) Would replace a 29 year old QB with others with more potential - Yes Knows how to grow an organization - Yes Has more personality than Seth Littrell - Yes Could raise money - Maybe
  24. Grant has a 5 year track record of doing great things, the flu has apparently decimated the team (get your shots people) .... St Marys is good, would've been nice to get a Q1 but it didnt happen
