This shouldn't be a new revelation for anybody. Coach McCarney has been saying since he took the job that this is not a FBS-quality roster especially on the offensive and defensive line.

It doesn't matter if Hilton and FIU's running game were known threats before the game. They created a "pick your poison" dilemma for a young defense running a system they were introduced to only 9 months ago. As for not having to kick to Hilton Jub and Hank were right, at some point you have to do it. If you try not to chances are you're going to kick it out of bounds more than once, not worth the risk. Our coaches made the right choice in kicking to him and putting our special teams to the test. And despite the big return on the opening kickoff our special teams responded well including the caused fumble resulting in the touchdown. I also disagree with the "it's still FIU" point. As was stated in another thread, just watch how they do the rest of the season and you'll that this is a very good team that could be competitive in a number of other conferences. Not saying FIU is a powerhouse but this year they have a very good team.

We had better jerseys and our stajium is better

Key word being SOME starters. Thompson saw ALL starters every play he was in the game. And if Thompson had been in he would have completed the pass that Osborn missed on.

The Most Important Question of All...
UNTP1 replied to findingbennyanders's topic in Mean Green Football
I heard this at the cookout as well where they had $2 beer. They could make a ridiculous amount of money off of students alone if they sold beer for cheap. -
Nick has been 2nd team center since recieving a scholarship in the spring.

Dallas Stars Discount Ticket Info
UNTP1 replied to JRock's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
If it's better than the awesome college student discount that they currently offer then I'm down. -
Anytime I've been a part of a practice where the nerf ball thing was used it was a scout team situation where they are just trying to give the defense a good look without having to stop down for bad snaps. By doing this, the D-line gets to see a ball being snapped so they can time their jumps and whoever is running scout team QB doesn't have to worry about catching the snap. Not sure what the situation was at the "scrimmage" thats just my personal experience.

I've been wondering, and I'll preface this by saying that I know pretty much nothing about the science of construction, how are they going to build this bridge before the expansion of 35?
-
True, but you're bringing back the same guys who came close to beating K-State and adding some key players who were injured plus a few freshman and transfers who are apparently going to make an immediate impact.

Video from tonight's event at Apogee Stadium
UNTP1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
From what I saw while I was there the turnout was pretty good considering the short notice and the fact that it was almost all freshmen (whether or not they raised their hands or yelled when D-Mac asked how many freshmen were there). The video probably shows about half the amount of students that really showed up throughout the evening. There were a lot of students at the concession stand taking advantage of the free food, which wouldn't have been the case if there was more than one concession stand open. And I would definitely disagree with the statement of the band out numbering the students. Maybe it looked that way in the video but I am positive that more students showed up in total than the number of band members. If that many freshmen show up for the first game, combined with the rest of the student body that has shown up at past season openers at a decaying Fouts, and then the rest of the students who will show up just because it's a new stajium and the opponent is a recognizable school, then the student section will be full in my estimation. -
Lance Dunbar was named the 5th best non-BCS player by SI today
UNTP1 replied to GreenBat's topic in Mean Green Football
Got my SI yesterday and was disappointed to see Rainey as the one Sun Belt player mentioned. However, it was nice to see them pick us to go 4-8 although preseason rankings aren't worth a velvet painting of a whale and a dolphin getting it on -
I'm 21 and I can't stand this uniform idiocracy as I've stated before. It's driving me into the sweet bussom of insanity

Cowboy Ring of Honor nominee Drew Pearson speaks to UNT players
UNTP1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
He came out and kissed the eagle statue at the pep rally tonight. Really cool to see that, had a nice Mean Green shirt on -
I would rather not contibute to our society (specifically the sports realm) spiraling even faster towards idiocracy (which I know is inevitable) and thus making me more insane. For the record I am 21 so don't worry old timers, not all of us youngsters our in support of the "new age" unis.

I'll be there plus a few

Answers for parking/tailgating
UNTP1 replied to Eastwood Eagle's topic in Mean Green Ticket Exchange
Any idea on how strictly they will enforce the size of grills? Me and my roomates bought a fairly large grill before last season mainly for tailgating and I was hoping to set up our tailgate a little south of the duck pond. -
Our locker room has amenities such as couches and a gatorade fountain with different flavors. It is bigger and nicer than the new locker rooms built into the stadium. One of the main factors in the design of the Athletic Center was to have a top of the line locker room built in place for a stadium to be built around it similar to many other stadiums. It wouldn't make any sense to use one of the new locker rooms.

Pretty sure Hot Box closed a little while ago but Rooster's is just as good if not better than Fuzzy's.

So I'm a student looking for some opinions on the best plan of action on gameday. I plan on starting my tailgate (about 15 people at the most)at 2 by the latest. Would it be better to just set up and tailgate at Fouts or do the drop off thing? Where are the majority of the students going to be set up? (not necessarily concerned with the greeks as I'm not fan of their horrible music choices at rediculous volume levels) What type of crowd will be tailgating in the "drop off grass" area? And also I have a few in my tailgate who will have to buy tickets as they are not UNT students so I would probably have to teradown early to get their tickets.
-
So if you're just a lowly student and not a member of the mean green club the only place to tailgate with your car is Fouts?
-
Yea but you can eat at Hooters pretty much anywhere

Coach McCarney - What a cheerleader for UNT Football
UNTP1 replied to DeepGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Speaking of being a cheerleader for the Mean Green, Jah Dunham was wearing a Mean Green shirt when the Musers were on Sports Sunday with Doocy from training camp on Sunday.
