  1. UNT is inconsequential to SMU as well, no debate there. I'm sure many SMU fans would love to see the schools play yearly. Always loved the idea of a UNT/TCU/UNT/UTA pre-season tourney etc. That said, scheduling UNT doesn't make a ton of sense for SMU, as it can only hurt, not help. Beating UNT does nothing for SMU, and losing is bad form and entirely possible. As for relevance, both schools are on many of the same players this year, so discussing Williams/York/Jones is pertinent, even Norris to an extent. My perspective may have an SMU bias, but I'm not here to flame or anything of the sort. Creighton will meet w/York this upcoming week. Simply, Yorks offers are slimming down cause some the schools recruiting him are filling up. That bodes well for both UNT & SMU, should either of those schools really go all-in on York. Cheers!
  2. Blah, I work in basketball and have for over 15 years. I've never once come here to bait UNT fans, just enjoy actual hoops conversations. You have some good fans. I'm not bragging about SMUs recruiting class, nor will I should it materialize, and I'm not a Doh fan. Now, if you want to go to war, I'll bury you like I do everyone else when it comes to basketball & recruiting, mostly cause I'm actually paid good money to be on the inside. If you want random info, cool. If you want to be a sunshiner, that's fine too, but don't come at me for providing some actual insight, as opposed to just posting links to random articles, where kids tell school publishers what they want to hear. FWIW, just b/c SMU didn't offer Norris doesn't diminish Norris as a UNT verbal. He's a good player. SMU wanted Jordan Williams and it was a very good get for UNT. Win some, lose some. Stop being so defensive. As for SMU, everyone knows they struggle locally. That said, your numbers on their Texas signings are pretty far offbase. York is a good player, and I'm sure he has an SMU offer, but it's about to be first come, first serve. They already have a verbal from a 4/3 and may get another this weekend. All that means is that UNTs chances could go up. No different than Tech bringing in a big last week, may effect his Tech offer. If Tech and SMU go a different route, doesn't it stand to reason that UNT has a better shot? That was my only point.
  3. Funny stuff, I guess you dont like legit info. Expect Creighton to get involved w/York too.
  4. Ive been told SMU currently leads for York, but they already took a 4/3 in this class and have another visiting this weekend, who many think will commit. They're also in better shape w/Cannen Cunningham than most realize and lead for Jalen Jones. Anyway, they have the ships available, but how many can they take at roughly the same position?
  5. He may be a decent fit at UNT, but he was dropped by TCU, it wasn't negotiable. Simply, he was progressing nicely w/the Dallas Heroes org, and when they folded, he never fit in w/Deron Williams elite etc. Just got lost in the shuffle, had a horrible AAU season, and the Horned Frogs walked, that simple.
  6. Thing is, I don't think FIU is hiding from the fact they are a pseudo-rogue program right now. It's a glorified commuter school, where the regular student body isn't particularly competitive, so borderline ballers are par for the course. Memphis is the same way on a larger scale. It's just an easy school to get into, stay in etc.
  7. I thought he was due on campus today or tomorrow?
  8. No real risk in taking Miller, as he has to redshirt anyway. Of course, he could just fail out, but something tells me that'll be hard at FIU. They are putting together a nice nucleus athletically anyways
  9. I guess Gods Academy didn't quite prepare him for the rigors of LSU admissions and the clearinghouse. He'll sit the year and play for Zeke starting in '11
  10. He can say what he wants, as can all recruits, but he never had a commitable SMU offer, ever. SMU has this way of leading everyone to believe they've been offered, but only a few are commitable. As I said, Brown liked lil Trey, Doh didn't. If Doh doesn't like you, there is no offer. Besides that, SMU has 3 PGs on the roster in '11, so if they grab a PG, it'll be one that pushes for the start. Trey is a situational waterbug.
  11. He'd be a very nice get. I doubt he verbals, if only cause I've always heard he thinks he's Big 12 or high major. I know this, if Kyan gave a verbal, i'd run for the wood if I were Norris. Can't recruit over in the same class and have that be kosher. OF course, we never know where they are grade/score wise
  12. Jordan Williams is a great get for UNT. I think he projects more as a SF, than as a SG at the next level. Good length, nice stroke from mid to deep, and really attacks the glass. I wouldn't say he's a high-flyer, but he's very active. Gets his share of tip-ins and putbacks etc. Certainly, he's an impact player early at UNT, and probably an all-league performer by junior year at the latest. Needs work on perimeter and transition D, but that'll come w/coaching, cause the effort is there. He's a high motor kid when he has it going
  13. SMU elite camp was very watered down, only 3 kids in the entire gym w/commitable offers in Jalen Jones, Karim york & Keaton Miles, who was in street clothes. Next closest were Trey, AJ Price(street clothes), and Kyle Kager. Kager just gave his verbal to American, FWIW. You are right, Trey did more than hold his own, he just wasn't dominant vs. a subpar PG crop. That said, what did you think of Tyler James? Nobody had heard of the kid pre-camp, and he really opened eyes w/his size and cerebral nature. Dropped some bombs too. Be interesting to see what level he ends up being recruited, if at all. UNT will be happy w/Trey. Its hard to determine if SMU really needs a PG or not. They have both Cotton Giles and Troy Alexander coming available in '11, not to mention the florida kid they picked up in '10
  14. Doherty never offered Trey and it wasn't close. Their assistant, Reggie Brown, really likes Trey quite a bit, so I wasn't posting to slight lil Trey. Doh often has a very tough time pulling the trigger, even if he should. This is but one reason Lutz left for Creighton. Doh would never pull the trigger on good kids. Trey is a good kid and player. As for SMU elite camp, I was there, and Trey was never the best guard on the floor, in a camp w/o high end PG prospects. In fact Tyler James had far more buzz coming out of the camp, than did Norris. Don't take this the wrong way, but Trey needs to shoot a lot better to compensate for being tiny. Kid is a good pick-up for the Mean Green. FWIW, I'm more a hoops industry guy than fan of either individual school, so I come w/o real bias. Just good prospect discussions here
  15. You are taking message board threads, between cross-town colleges, a bit too seriously. Lots of misinformation on both boards. Yes, SMU wanted Williams so that's a win for UNT, no they never offered Trey Norris. He played very poorly at their elite camp. Both schools are recruiting quite well. UNT got Williams & Trey last week, SMU got Eric Norman and then had visits from Jalen Jones, Geoff Groselle & Cannen Cunningham all since Friday.
  16. Jones has 17 offers currently, but is down to 5, and will decide early. No visits scheduled to anyone yet. Can only remember 3 of top 5, but no UNT. Its UTEP, SMU, Colorado and two others.
