Kicker is good! We need to start converting in the red zone though.
-
We benefited from a big drop on La Techs first drive, but otherwise D looks like a different team so far.
-
He looks good, but we were outscored when he was in the game at FIU. The Defense was a no show in Florida. So far switching to the 4 man front has been huge.

They must have listened to JD’s podcast with Bennett where they talked about fitting the D to your personnel. Thanks JD!

This was a good day. Man, did I think things were headed in a different direction than what we have seen.
-
Would definitely like the idea of PB consulting. I’m pretty convinced we don’t have the players needed to be a successful D1 defense, but Phil was able to work enough magic to make us decent with what we had.

Guess we’re gonna let a rb drag our entire defense 15 plus yards for a td every game. -

I miss Phil Bennett. Didn’t realize how much of a band-aid he was for this defense. -

Couldn’t have thrown a better ball there. He’s not looking good but that’s 100% on the receiver. -

So ugly. Receiver falling down again. We need to look into shoe choice again like Dodge era? -

GMG Report: Jace Ruder taking Reps at Linebacker

Great athlete with good size. Good for him wanting to get on the field. Hope to see him making some plays this year and huge congrats on the new baby. -
We must not have watched the same game. We had zero rushing threat. 41 yards total with our 4 headed monster. O-Line completely outmatched with D-line only rushing 4 and still getting pressure while the rest of the D was able to T up on the pass. Stone made some really nice throws. 1st int was perfectly thrown. Ball was out before receiver tripped/was pushed down. 2nd definitely on him. He still averaged 9 yards per pass with 3 TD’s and 64% completion under pressure with no rush attack. The “legitimate FBS” Chandler got 4 drives against the 2nd team defense and couldn’t move the ball at all while averaging 1 yard per pass at less than 50% plus the interception. I’ll take the upside of Stone all day long. QB play was the least of our problems today.

My weather channel showing 97 and weather bug 98 right now. Hope it holds. -
Feel like we normally have this thing kicked off by now? Can we get it rolling and I call Stone Earle?! Roster: https://meangreensports.com/sports/football/roster
-
Best summary I can remember. Earle is hardest worker on the team. Locker room loves him. Lead scoring drives on 12 of last 15 “critical” possessions in camp/scrimmages. One of the strongest arms OC has ever seen. Morris says has all the the things you want in a QB. Will let Stone go for a while and feel it out to use Morris. Morris thinks weather will be a great advantage against Cal. RB room and coach Cobbs are truly amazing. Group of 8 receivers they are really happy with. Will use TE’s in multiple looks. Christian Lee has added some weight. Will line him up at receiver, TE and HB to allow different looks without having to sub. Wood has been practicing this week and looks like will play. Morris and OC think that 3-3-5 is really hard to play against. Everyone is looking forward to lining up against another team. DC expects cal to spread it out against them including their new starter being able to scramble. I wasn’t down on Littrell, but Morris is a breath of fresh air in terms on personality and engagement at events like this.

Pretty sure both have three left.

I think Morris is keeping the cards close to his chest and making Cal prep for 2 QB’s while also trying to keep the QB who everyone expected to win the job happy so he sticks around as a very good back up. Sure, Stone could lay an egg and he roll with Rogers, but I think Stone’s the guy and Rogers will be change of pace and mop up.

This is what I read in my head. Chandler was recruited to be the starter, he will be the starter, but Earle was so undeniable through practices and scrimmages that Morris was left with no choice. I like Earle as far as hustle and running ability, but Seth never used him due to arm strength was unable to evaluate and develop QB Talent so would not let him through the ball. Earle's arm strength is far superior as evidenced by his 50 YD TD on the run last night and to my understanding everyone else who has seen them both play. No D-1 experience like Rogers (although he did start as a freshman at ACU) and despite that is still outplaying Rogers. Earle is was a great change of pace backup last year, but he is very capable of consistently moving the ball vs Berkeley this year based on his over 80 % completion rate this fall (per Morris), arm strength, and running ability. Rudder May have an arm but he is way too slow

Is the scrimmage tonight open, and if so does anyone know what time?

https://x.com/coach_brophy/status/1692615688622309413?s=46&t=MDCaP04cPW-sckiWT2Pxvg I’m still in the Stone Earle camp, but I think they’ve got all of our QB’s looking pretty good. Excited to see what a difference having a staff that can evaluate and develop QB’s will do for us this year. Edit: Apologies that the video didn’t imbed. Pretty tech illiterate with this stuff.

Excellent point! I’m dumb. Rogers I mean, unless of course Chandler Morris wants to transfer from TCU, then I’d be thrilled.
