I note that you felt you had to disguise the "eat $3!%!" rather than use the exact word. That is exactly what I was hoping would occur. If you have to disguise the language on a fan board because it is inappropriate, don't you also think that same language is inappropriate used as part of student chants........and especially as part of the university fight song? Exhibiting "class" is timeless - I can curse with the best of 'em, but not at the top of my lungs and not in a public location - and CERTAINLY not while singing the university fight song. But I guess it is to each his own - but it is pretty classless.

I certainly disagree with your assumption - UNT had good crowds during the latter years of the Dodge era - except for a few cold, wet game days.

From coaching comments at the time, this is exactly what Olen wrestled with in his first fall camp and beyond.

I always experience "sticker-shock" when I see the bookstore's prices for apparel - I guess it reflects my age and the desire to maximize value in my purchases. Great looking items - just hard to pay those prices. minus-1 away............ GMG

Only game in town that night ONLY IF the Rangers are not playing a playoff game at Arlington or on television.

There seemed like a LOT more in attendance last night than vs. TSU (attendance for that game was stated at 22,259). Either the TSU attendance was vastly inflated or last night's attendance was vastly deflated. I sit on the front row of the club seats - I looked over the alumni-side crowd several times; I looked at the end zone/wing zone crowds; I looked at the student side - there were far, far more butts in seats for last night's game than there were for TSU. And yes, Harry, the wing had a lot more people in it than vs. TSU. I have no answer as to why last night's game attendance was given as less than TSU - but it was not and it was not by a significant number (at least as seen from these eyes).

I remember some folks that I greatly respect telling me, when Mason was signed by North Texas, that a couple of more inches in height and Mason would have been recruited by many of the top FBS universities. You 'da man, Mason! GMG

I believe I saw that Lairamie Lee had 11 tackles. If so, and I admit that I have not checked the official stats, I would guess that LL still leads the team in tackles. GMG

Interesting suggestion - as I was typing my comment that is exactly the university I was thinking about as I typed.

I don't disagree with you - but they need to be NAME cupcakes; the FCS teams and like won't do it for us. We have been in the Sunbelt for many years and I still come across people that say "who?" when I tell them which universities are in the conference. Playing and beating NAME cupcakes will meet a lot of needs.

I have received some mighty fine teachin'/learnin' at a Motel 6 - be still my heart!

Lairamie Lee - 4 solo tackles; 1 assist; 1 interception Chosen Defensive Player of the Week for the TSU game. Has 16 total tackles for the two games and leads the team in tackles. Also, congrats to my last year's adopted player - Mason Y'Barbo: 14 knockdowns at the line of scrimmage & chosen Offensive Player of the Week. I am proud of both of you guys! GMG

I bought four front row seats for just the varied reasons given in the prior postings, and by doing so: 1. I stand when appropriate and do so while remaining respectful to those around me. 2. I sit on my butt when i damned well please! Great talent I have: I can cheer/jeer; I can be obnoxious to the opposing team, and still sit on my butt at the same time. Ask those around me. 3. I don't have to worry about some idiot with a 10-gallon hat or other such visual distraction sitting in front of me to block my view. 4. I enjoy the games without the irritation and frustration that comes from other's selfishness and self-centered behavior. 5. If I wanted to stand the entire game then I would have purchased four seats in an area of the stadium where standing throughout the game is the norm. I did so for years - I no longer choose to do so. 6. I suggest that those of you who insist that you will stand regardless of the fact that you are blocking the view of those behind you... .....i.e., blocking the view of those fans and financial supporters who paid the same ticket price you did (plus significant contributions to the Athletic Department of UNT) in order to support The Mean Grean..... I suggest you file this thread away and review the topic/your postings in 30 - 40 years and see if your attitude has changed! In the meantime I am enjoying watching the games without engaging in or having to deal with the selfish crap some of you call "supporting the team"!

Hey, why don't we all just sit back and enjoy what is going to happen with the two band's preformances. Very seldom do we have an opposing team's band in attendance - and the Ocean of Soul will be a treat. Why must everything be turned into a competition? Relax and enjoy!

I finally just put them on "mute" and did my own commentary - much to the distress of my wife (who laughed at my mouthings) and the dog and cat who ran and hid until the game was over. Such is life when The Mean Green is playing on television! GMG

For us old-timers Walter Chapman's induction into the UNT Athletic Hall of Fame was very slow in occurring. He was the epitome of the Hayden Fry model for a nose tackle in the John LaGrone (SMU) tradition. I have lots of great memories of Chapman's heroics in the early-to-mid-70s. Congratulations Walter - You, sir, were one helluva player.
