Hide and watch - A$M football will be second-level in the SEC (think Arkansas). Oklahoma no; A$M, yes! -
Well, “Bro”, thanks for taking the time to provide such an enlightening response. I don’t agree with your, and others, belief that Riley was a quitter……. But I do believe this……….. Those of you that feel this way, who keep badmouthing the kid – that you in a similar circumstance, with all that was swirling about him – would do EXACTLY what Riley Dodge chose to do! I do believe that, Bro………

Coach McCarney Interview with ESPN in Iowa
tylermeangreen replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
Just listened to it - Quite enjoyable and refreshing! What the talk show hosts have to say about Dan McCarney is just as exciting as what McCarney himself has to say. Continually reading/hearing the “experts” negativity about the history, and immediate future, of our program – including the vituperate writings of the local Denton scribe – can really be a downer; they really wear down this old fan/alumnus over a period of time. Listening to this interview, or any interview, with Dan McCarney, absolutely creates excitement and renews my hope in the future of this Mean Green football program. There is interesting speculation in the 20 minutes or so following the interview regarding McCarney’s future if he is successful at North Texas. GMG -
From this morning's Tyler Morning Telegraph article related to Tucker commitment: “Tucker (5-11, 190), the younger brother of TCU running back Matthew Tucker, rushed for 1,063 yards and 14 touchdowns on offense last season for Chapel Hill in helping the Bulldogs reach the Class 3A Division I state championship game. Defensively, he made 113 tackles (12 for loss) with two sacks, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one defensive touchdown. Tucker joins senior teammates Rex Rollins and Sir Calvin Wallace, who both pledged to North Texas earlier this summer.”

It is just flat embarrassing to me for people on this board to EVER refer to Riley Dodge as a "quitter"! Friggin' unbelievable!!!

The Public Administration Program in particular......... -
Leach is a rogue. Hiring a rogue head coach was the last thing that North Texas needed at that point in time - well, actually, at any point in time! All of the perceived benefits of hiring him would not have been worth the angst that would have undoubtably arisen. Winning is important - winning the right way, and with class, is far more important.

That is the equivalent of shoplifting a shirt from Dillards........and then returning it to the store to ask for a refund because it was the wrong size! -
Great idea - but the question is how do we get the info out, and who will provide the initial leadership on the field and/or in the stands to get it going (it will create its own life after awhile, hopefully, and that initial leadership will no longer be needed)?

UNT Commit #3 - Sir Calvin Wallace DT Chapel Hill
tylermeangreen replied to H-towngreen's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
The information on this particular player seems very outdated - gives the stats for freshman and sophomore years but not for last season. I do know that the athlete you mentioned was at the UNT coaches camp held at Chapel Hill HS three weeks or so ago, and looked very good. As for H-Towns question, I intentionally did not disclose a name because it was pure speculation on my part - but as I said, don't be surprised. I do know that the athlete I was mentioned has received at least one offer (but not from UNT to my knowledge) as of three weeks ago. -
UNT Commit #3 - Sir Calvin Wallace DT Chapel Hill
tylermeangreen replied to H-towngreen's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
3-A competition, agreed - but last year the Chapel Hill team played both 3-A state champs - blew out Carthage by about 25 or so points during the regular season - then laid an egg in the Division 1 state championship game against Henderson, losing 28 - 21. They also played two 4-A teams last year, losing one game and winning the other. This team is absolutely loaded this year - it will be interesting to see how far they manage to go in 2011 - CH and Henderson are expected by some publications to end up in the Division 1 state championship game again. Oh - don't be surprised to see one more CH Bulldog defensive lineman end up at UNT at the February signing date. -
Mean Green vs. Florida International Watch Party

.......hope you are wrong - I was told specifically that those who hold club seats would have first option to park their butts in those seats should they want to purchase tickets to said event. -
Mean Green vs. Florida International Watch Party
tylermeangreen replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
I have been told by high-level Athletic Department personnel that club seat holders will have first option to buy tickets for any event held in the stadium - and those tickets will entitle them to sit in the club seating they have purchased for Mean Green football games. -
Florida defensive end and TE transferring to?
tylermeangreen replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
“We wish him the best as he continues his career somewhere else.” I think I have seen these "coach quotes" made in a bit more tactful manner (this one is equivalent in tone to "don't let the door hit you in the butt on your way out"! -
Great photo of new Stadium in "The North Texan"
tylermeangreen replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree related to "The North Texan" photo. But........(and this may have been covered elsewhere; apologize if it has; been on vacation for the last two weeks)...... The photo spread of the stadium in "The Dallas Morning News" online was very disappointing. Some (if not all) of the photos were taken a month or more ago, and there was not a photo of the home-side of the stadium (other than an old D-RC photo showing a few of the club seats being installed) in the spread. There was one photo of the vistors/students side of the stadium, and to the interested but unknowledgable observer, it does not present a true representation of the beauty and size of the entire stadium - in fact, it made the stadium look "small-time". -
Tired of this crap - it is time for both of you to take this UH BS elsewhere!

UNT Lands Commitment #1: Rex Rollins
tylermeangreen replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I watched the UNT football camp at Chapel Hill yesterday (Vito has it wrong - the camp was yesterday)- I live a short distance away. Rollins looked good - glad to see him commit. CH had a three-back tandem last year that was excellent - and Rollins was probably the number 3 back. Another offer has been extended to CH's feature back in 2011 - and he was at the camp yesterday. It was interesting watching the coaches work with the players of varying talents. And of course Dan McCarney was all over the field doing what Dan McCarney does! It was particularly interesting to watch the special teams coach work with a punter. The kid greatly improved his distance, hang time, and was kicking consistent spirals, and all with 45 minutes of work with the coach. Great job! I was talking to the father of a CH defensive tackle (converting to DE this season - don't be surprised if this kid gets offered by UNT before the recruiting season is over) and he said that he believes UNT coaches and fans are in for a treat when they see Lairamie Lee in 2-a-days. He believes that Lee will be a slobber-knocker when receivers come across the middle. And to top it off - everyone in CH know what a great kid Lairamie Lee is! -
Three From Tyler Chapel Hill Offered
tylermeangreen replied to tylermeangreen's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
You are correct, of course, but I think the point that Kram is trying to make - and what I know to be true since I have lived in the area for the past 35 years - is that there are many smaller high schools in East Texas that have greatly improved their programs to the point that there are many athletes - quality athletes - that the "big boy" college programs have chosen to ignore (with an 85 total; 25 per year scholarship limit, that is easy to understand). The Big 12 (10) universities are great at "cherry-pickin" the large high school athletes in East Texas, and on occasion the well-known smaller high school athletes (Cody Glenn for example - Rusk to Nebraska), but many quality athletes are ignored except by some of the FCS schools. As for UNT, our coaching staffs have been virtually non-existent out here in the East Texas hinterland for ages (as are coaching caravans and UNT Alumni visits) - they have been willing to recruit the large-school athletes, but only occasionally have they been willing to actively recruit athletes from the smaller high schools in East Texas - and no, it is not because the quality is not there. I do agree with you - Coach McCarney would certainly do our university proud to develop his contacts in small-town East Texas........and he seems to be doing just that! -
I was just told by Thomas Sitton, the Head Coach/AD at Chapel Hill High School (just outside of Tyler), that UNT has offered three of its soon-to-be seniors: Rex Rollins - running back Andrew Tucker - running back and brother of Matthew Tucker, back at TCU Sir Calvin Wallace - a defensive lineman (tackle, if I remember correctly) So where is the connection from Chapel Hill to UNT? I quote from his email to me: "Coach Jeremy Loyd our WR coach played for Coach McCarney at Iowa State and just loves him". What got me started on this was the item in Vito's Blog today that said Chapel Hill was a stop on UNT's summer camps schedule (little ole Chapel Hill, a country, 3-A school among all of the big communities mentioned in the blog) - so I emailed Thomas and asked for details of when the camp would be at Chapel Hill. Wednesday, June 15 4 - 8 PM Sitton will have some athletes in the next few years that are going to be something else. Hopefully, our Mean Green get their share.
