Just watched the segment. Lot' s of the same ole coach speak- always overly complimentary about other teams and their coach. Was it really necessary to point out that we are 4-28 against SMU? I love Mac, but his samle ole coach speak is getting old. I wonder if he did this when he was at Iowa State.

Just got two- one for the front and one for the back around the pool

Off Season Discussion: At What Moment Did You Think....
Eppie96 replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Football
Rice game. Watching on Halloween night on TV. The stand...I knew our defense was something special after that -
The MTSU vs Navy in Ft Worth match up surprises me. Not sure what ESPN was thinking on this one Any thoughts?

Bought my ticket to my first North Texas bowl game. Very little interest in UNLV. I liked our opponents in the NO bowls better. Honestly, I would have much rather played Navy in the Armed Forces bowl in Ft Worth

The Curious Case of Connor Means: Why UNT offered
Eppie96 replied to MeanGreenZen's topic in Mean Green Football
Zen, Nice post. You may have a career as a sports writer. Nice analysis. I sure hope DW is our guy of the future- he looked pretty good out there against Idaho. -
Good game Roadrunners. You have a good football team, and beat us by playing very good defense. This one hurts. We are not as good as I thought. I have been concerned about our offense all season, and about our ability to put points on the board against a good defense.

“Let’s Analyze What’s been Working for Us”
Eppie96 replied to Mean_Green09's topic in Mean Green Football
Nice work. Nice analysis. I agree with your concerns about our offense. Before the Rice game, I thought we needed at least 400 yards of offense to beat Rice. Our offense has to get better for us win the last 3 games- I think UTSA and Tulsa will surprise us. -
Congrats to # 7- I fully support you. We must put DT's performance in perspective...this was a REALLY bad Idaho defense that looked lost. All of the high percentage/quick throws that DT completed will not be there against a good secondary like Ohio. Ohio will definitely gameplan for this type of passing attack and force us to beat them deep in the passing game. Deep balls have never been DT's strength. If there had a been a defensive back within 10-15 feet of Chancellor, that long ball would have been intercepted.

Who will be our starting QB by Conference Play ?
Eppie96 replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
I am beginning to think that this is all a smokescreen to motivate the other three. Mac knows that he could get the most out of DWill with him as a redshirt this year. I remain disappointed that BB hasn't stepped up. No matter what, DT is our starter against Idaho. -
I never really thought that Chico was McCarney's "guy" at OC. I have always thought that he kept him to help smooth the transition for the team in light of his brief success as the interim head coach after Dodge left. One of my favorites games in recent memory was our game against K State at Fouts when Chico was the head coach. That one barely got away from us and Dunbar had a monster day...

Nice job Harry. Your responses were definitely on. A little disappointed that we were really not mentioned by the other schools. Also a little surprised that UTSA identifies Rice as there most likely rival.

Where do you live/family: North Dallas Degree/Year attended/graduated UNT: BA Biology and Spanish- 1996 Favorite NT Memory: So many....Sig Ep house events, Delta Lodge Fire, Kerr Hall, good professors, overall environment/people Favorite NT Sports Memory: Listening to George Dunham first say "Do you believe in the Mean Green?" on the radio during the 1997 Texas Tech game while I was camping with my future wife

I am also excited about playing the Miners- I think the have a pretty good football program and lots of alumni in the metroplex. It should be pointed out that Texas Western won the men's basketball championship. Most people outside of Texas do not know that Texas Western became UTEP.

Very nice win- congrats to Ark State. What a year for the Sun Belt- both regular season and bowls. Kind of sucks thinking about where we are at as a program compared to ULM, ULaLa and Ark State and to be leaving the Belt with such a bad record the last 5 years. I sure hope the glass is half full and that we won't embarass ourselves in CUSA.

SMU Shows Dominance and Progress in Hawaii
Eppie96 replied to DallasGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Congrats to the Ponies- nice win and a good four bowl games. I can't help but think that Fresno State was overrated losing to a 6-6 SMU team in that fashion. I can't wait until we play SMU, but I agree we will likely be big underdogs. They have done well recruiting and that will only improve as they are now selling the fact that they went to four bowl games. With the rise of Baylor, TCU and now SMU, our recruiting will only get more difficult. I also think that if McCarney can't really turn this around in the next 2-3 years, our window of opportunity may close. -
La Tech was really good this year- great game against the aggies. I am really shocked they passed up a bowl.

Agree with Hunter Green- too many mistakes of the past to overcome in less then 6 years. I am a big Mac fan, but this one is on him. Seriously? Running the ball against 9 in the box to try to "protect" a lead with over 10 minutes left in the 4th. I am also very disappointed in DT. I hoping to see good things from Berglund.

I pretty much lived on campus for my entire undergrad- 5 years. I lived in Kerr from 95-96 back when all the athletes lived there. Lived a couple doors down form the great Phillip Armour who was a great guy and our starting center. He played a couple years in the NFL for the Colts. I lived in the old Sig Ep house for 4 years and absolutely loved it- except for a few weeks every summer when the a/c wouldn't work. Best spirit- West hall- there was some RAs there that could really get the residents out to athletic events. Best food- breakfast- Bruce; otherwise Kerr

Direct TV- Channel 677 in HD. I'm recording. It may be painful to watch. It will be interesting to see McCarney's approach, particularly if things get ugly

I always liked George Dunham's "Do you believe in the Mean Green!" quote that he said after we beat Texas Tech in the late 90s. This drop is still played on the Ticket from time to time. I think "Why not North Texas!" is a little trite. Really excited about the Mean Green. First year season ticket holder.

Great idea to have McCarney as the keynote speaker at the career night. Please send me the info.- I would love to be there. I will also try to bring some other alums. Tom Van Dinter Gamma Iota- Spring 1992

I really like what Canales did with the team the last 5 weeks, but I am a little skeptical of people who always say the right thing. It has also bothered me from the beginning that he referred to himself in the third person. As he said on the post-game interview yesterday, he is a "hell of a salesman" and I certainly agree. He did a hell of a job with the team and with selling himself the last 5 weeks. I think he realizes that his window of opportunity for a HFC job is closing. I am glad we got a proven commodity in McCarney, even though I had never heard of him before. I wish Canales the best, but I am glad we didn't name him HFC. GMG.

Thoughts On Canales' Efforts To Land The Job
Eppie96 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm all for Joel Osteen as well...but we may not be able to come close to matching his current salary of 50 million a year and he has no HFC experience.
