  1. According to this site, North Texas is #19 in RPI. Looks like we should drop the Kansas game because they are #147 right now. Don't need games that will hurt our RPI. http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_Men.html
  2. Per North Texas official game notes, there is not TV coverage. https://admin.xosn.com/pdf8/723026.pdf?&KEY=KHIIFYOHLPPURSF.20101115211915&DB_ACCOUNT_TYPE=AGENT&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=1800
  3. Already working on #1. Bought tickets to two more games before the end of the year.
  4. The game is also on the ESPN Full Court Package. Some bars get this package (look for places that serve as watch parties for non-local schools). ESPN3.com works pretty good.
  5. Awesome game. White was great. Never gave up even down by 6 to 8 points several times in 2nd half. Crowd was great. It was really loud several times during the game. Still pumped about the game!!!
  6. Unfortunately, the crowd isn't big enough most nights to really make a difference, but I still think it's a bad idea to not use some of the best seats in the arena (esp. when you have a press row on the other side of the arena). Hopefully, crowds will start growing and we'll be forced to change this.
  7. Depending on how the K-State vs. Va Tech game goes, North Texas can be the first school to defeat a Big 12 team this year. The Big 12 is 18-0 so far (OU tried really hard to lose last night).

  8. There is a picture on meangreensports.com in the Henderson St. photo gallery that shows the problem. The press row across from the benches is empty but you can see the prime seats wasted by the press row. http://www.meangreensports.com/PhotoAlbum.dbml?SPSID=9108&SPID=564&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=1800&PALBID=381961
  9. I wish we had same online system Stars are using this year. It shows all the available seats and you get to pick your seats. It seems completely random when you use the North Texas online system.
  10. North Texas was the only other Sun Belt school with a Rivals Top 150 recruit (WKU had two). Maybe with Denver leaving the basketball schedule will be redone and WKU will have to come to Denton. I'd love to play them twice a year. Could be a fun rivalry.
  11. I couldn't agree more. You can't waste prime seats and reduce the atmosphere just to give the media a place to sit.
  12. Until I did some reading I didn't realize how bad Tech has been on the road under Pat Knight. They've won two conference road games in the last three years. They've dropped non-conference road games to Wichita St, New Mexico, Lamar, UTEP and Centenary. Last year they only won by two at SFA. This should be Pat Knight's best team but I still think they will struggle on the road.
  13. Big game tonight! Here's the story from Vitto... http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/colleges/northtexas/stories/DRC_untbasketballadvance_1116.23469176a.html Here's 5 Things to Look Forward (Tech blog on DMN) http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/11/five-things-to-look-for-as-texas-tech-ba.html Story from Lubbock paper (nice compliments to UNT) http://lubbockonline.com/sports-red-raiders-mens-basketball/2010-11-16/red-raiders-hope-energy-persists-they-hit-road?v= North Texas Game Notes: http://www.meangreensports.com//pdf8/722628.pdf Texas Tech Game Notes: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/text/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/GameNotes-NorthTexas.pdf
  14. True. Gun to my head, I'd pick Tech to win on a neutral court. But we will learn a lot tomorrow. I can't wait. Should be lots of fun.
  15. I don't think a great squad and NIT belong in the same sentence. Especially for a Big 12 team. I'd say Tech has a decent or nice team. They are middle of road in Big 12. Kansas, KSU, Mizzou, Baylor, Texas and A&M are all better. Tech is better than North Texas but UNT has a real shot tomorrow.
  16. No issue with scheduling to win in football (for North Texas). Basketball needs a tougher schedule to improve seed in tournament or get an at large bid in the NCAA (the Sun Belt has receive multiple bids in the past). Link #2 has been my favorite if we go coordinator route.
  17. Longwood actually moved up to Div 1 (although play more like Div II school). I got my undergrad at KU so I watched the game. KU looked good but Longwood isn't good at all. Playing faster than last couple of years. Best prospect Josh Selby still hasn't been cleared by NCAA so he might not be able to play against North Texas. KU TV guys were talking about how tough the North Texas game will be. If KU wins on Monday, they'll be trying to tie a school record with 62 straight home wins.
  18. Actual fans probably had to work today. I don't mind playing a game like today. We just have to hope that 100 of those kids come back to a game this season with their parents.
  19. Stupid question, but Henderson St lists this as an exhibition and North Texas lists it as the season opener. Henderson is Div II (correct?) so I don't think the game counts in RPI, but shouldn't it be real game or exhibition for both schools?
  20. Montana turned down the WAC and is staying as a FCS program. Not good news for the WAC. I guess Seattle may get a big now. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5792014
  21. Sun Belt shows up as a #15 seed again. WKU is rep instead of UNT. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology

  23. 20-9 overall and 11-5 in conference (only predicts 3 losses in head to head games but so many are 50/50 type his season predictions show 5 losses). Best overall rating (#129) we've ever had on his rating (previous was #131 in 2008). He has North Texas winning Western Division of Sun Belt and SUn Belt as 19th best overall conference. Kenpom is great for stat geeks but I'm not sure how he does pre-season rankings. They are pretty interesting once the season gets going.
  24. Mark Stoops? Don't know much about rest of staff but his name stood out when I looked at the coaching list. http://www.floridastate.rivals.com/content.asp?SID=1061&CID=89667
  25. If UT became independent, the Big 12 would probably last longer. I doubt the SEC would be in a hurry to add OU and A&M (I think the SEC only expands if the Big 10 and Pac 12 expand). After OU and A&M none of the other schools would go anywhere. They would add TCU and a couple of other schools. The Big 12 would then fall to the level of the Big East and ACC for football. I doubt UT leaves the Big 12. I don't think they'd want to lose the fairly easy path to the BCS. They already make more money than anybody else so why go independent. But who knows for sure. This conference stuff changes every week or so.
