The question facing North Texas, and it's a big one, is whether last year's 4-8 collapse was a one-year aberration for a program that was a steady riser in Dan McCarney's first three seasons, or if it's a sign of a new direction. As was the case last year, much of what falls out in the next four months will come down to quarterback play. A program that was picked first in Conference USA West coming into 2014 never answered that question adequately, though the job eventually fell to Andrew McNulty. He's back for his senior year, and McCarney has seen enough improvement from him to be optimistic that the struggles of '14 were a blip. "Does he have the biggest gun you've ever seen throwing the ball? No," McCarney said. "Is he the fastest cat who's ever played quarterback? No. But he's got intangibles, he's got heart, he's got toughness, he's got respect and he's got a great understanding of our offense and the way we want to play football." read more: http://www.elpasotimes.com/sports/ci_28568827/mean-green-hoping-bounce-back-after-swoon

They have clearly cheated. Makes me sick.

Hopefully this is no big deal but but I looked at the roster and noticed there were some of our recent signees missing as well as they had Reese listed as a senior? Hopefully just needs to be updated but I thought Reese would be here two years? http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/ntex-m-baskbl-mtt.html

Brandan Walton’s head whipped around to see what happened as a thunderous cracking sound echoed through Humphrey Coliseum in 2011. Walton and the other members of the University of North Texas men’s basketball team were going through a light workout before a game at Mississippi State University — the kind of practice that entails nothing more than running through a few drills and going over the scouting report. Jacob Holmen never even made it to the bench for UNT’s game against the Bulldogs. “Jacob could really jump and didn’t realize how high he was,” said Walton, who was a junior at the time. “His feet went out from under him and he landed straight on the back of his head. The floor in the whole gym shook. Everyone stopped.” read more:http://www.dentonrc.com/sports/sports-headlines/20150725-getting-time-to-heal-after-concussions-helps-unt-grad-get-back-on-the-court.ece

In spite of the progress women have made in athletics under Title IX, the halls of power in the nation's elite college conferences remain very much a man's world. None of the 10 Football Bowl Subdivision conferences has been led by a woman. Atlantic 10 commissioner Bernadette McGlade is one of only a handful of women entrusted with running an athletic league at any level. But with Conference USA commissioner Britton Banowsky announcing he will step down this fall, a woman could be poised to break the FBS glass ceiling. Banowsky all but endorsed Judy MacLeod, the league's associate executive commissioner and chief operating officer, during the conference's football media day Wednesday. "She's absolutely prepared," he said. "She's so well respected in the industry. We've been blessed to have her leadership. "She runs the show. She's extremely capable, so she has my full support." read more:http://hamptonroads.com/2015/07/no-fbs-conference-has-been-led-woman-cusa-could-be-first

I would think private schools would have a higher cost of attendance. It should be equal among all schools.

Caleb is a tight end. Have you seen him lately? He's filled out a lot.

From what I gather, UNT is in a good position here. RV deserves some credit for planning ahead on this one.
-
I thought we might lose something when Wintrich left but that doesn't appear to be the case. If anything we may have improved at that position.

There will not be a QB now or in the future who will score higher on Chico's written tests than McNulty. If anything McNulty's grade sets the curve. If Chico continues to use this test to determine playing time McNulty will remain the starter.

Offensive OutlookSokol threw for 3,436 yards and 30 touchdowns as the field general for offensive coordinator Tony Peterson. Replacing Sokol is former Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel who transferred to Louisiana Tech to play his final season of college football after a disappointing career with the Gators. Driskel was a former top recruit who struggled with turnovers and staying healthy during his time in Gainesville, but the chance for a happy ending exists in this system that should be a welcome sight for Driskel after his offensive coaching staff at Florida was in a constant state of flux. Playing in a system that made Sokol so effective should allow for Driskel’s natural athleticism to shine and give him the chance he didn’t have at Florida to make plays. Granted, turnovers are his Achilles heel and his propensity to throw an ill-advised pass and penchant for the fumble will have to be monitored by Holtz and Peterson to make sure Driskel doesn’t put the team in a hole. Helping Driskel out on the offense is running back Kenneth Dixon who returns after rushing for a team-high 1,299 yards and 22 touchdowns. The 5-10, 212-pound rising senior had six, 100-yard games and six games with multiple rushing touchdowns as a junior. read more: http://saturdayblitz.com/2015/06/04/louisiana-tech-bulldogs-football-2015-season-preview/

the backfield yet, but running back Lance Dunbar has been shining at OTAs. Per ESPN's Todd Archer, Dunbar stole the show at Wednesday's practice. "If they handed out MVP of the day trophies, then it would have gone to running back Lance Dunbar. He caught four passes from Tony Romo in the two-minute drill work to close the first-team’s work in practice and had the linebackers on skates in seven-on-seven drills. Perhaps this really is the year the Cowboys use Dunbar more." Dunbar is expected to compete for the third-string running back position, but with Darren McFadden sidelined with a hamstring injury, he got a few extra carries on Wednesday. The former UNT produced has a unique skill set that other Cowboys running backs don't have. The 5-8 scatback can get to the outside quicker than the rest and has excellent hands out of the backfield. read more: http://dal.247sports.com/Bolt/Lance-Dunbar-draws-praise-from-Cowboys-OTAs-37594830
