I think that's why @KRAM1 still organizes the basketball game. the football game proceeds went to the scholarship fund, I think. In this case I'd assume it would be to support the soccer team, but I don't care which UNT organization it goes to support. I'll still be in to help ref. Which reminds me, @aztecskin we could do a regular three man ref crew. I'm sure we can find a couple of other to call the game. I know of a couple of alums that have been refs are fairly high levels. (The aforementioned Kram being one of them)

Depending on how many sign up you might consider playing with full sides and on a regular field. Also a thought would be to go with the North Texas coed rule of no slide tackles. I assume fund raised would be for the scholarship fund in the name of Mean Green Soccer? ETA: Maybe some of the girls who recently finish their eligibility to come out too. Make the half time fundraiser pot for most shots made from half field or (if she's up for it) see who can score the most goals on Jackie Kerestine from the top of the penalty arc maybe? I assume someone will finally get one past her eventually.

FootballScoop: President to make hire
Army of Dad replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
He has already failed. And failed for three years in a row. Statistically, he's likely to fail again this year. -

IF he fails? -
The main problem with that strategy is that it would have to be secret. Publicly stating that's the plan would make us look even more silly/small time/stupid than the current way RV runs the department. Keeping it secret it only feeds the toxic environment that has developed. Making what should be fairly easy changes (like fixing the ticket office and lighting a fire under whoever is in charge of the MGC) would also be tough since the heads of those groups will still see RV at the top and figure business as usual is ok. I see little benefit and more harm in your scenario. That's like my opinion man.

Oh I figured it was partly an honest question and and attempt to stir the pot.

They will probably give away all of those shirts, remember there is supposed to be free food and that's an effective way to get students out for an event.

CBL doing CBL type things.

No not the kicking people into pits kind of madness (that might be too harsh even for Benford!), but our (free!) preseason event. Starts at 6:30, autographs at 9:00. There will be a quick practice (yes, talking about practice), 3 point shooting and dunk contests. I hope they give out a program this year since there's no way to keep up with all the new faces otherwise. I will try to attend, mostly to support Jalie's return but also out of my continued morbid curiosity with Benford ball. More info (and less snark) here: http://m.meangreensports.com/m/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/101515aaa.html Hmm, no mention of practice. Maybe they changed the format from previous years.

I hadn't noticed. I think your guess is at least partially right, it will likely also get used when there is a conflict in scheduling the Pit.

@EagleMBA and @rcade is it possible that Smatresk is on your side in this and is working toward RV's removal, but has to line up his ducks? Or rather, just how fast do you think he is likely to be able to move, if he wants to?

Hmm, I wonder if @flyonthewall has a radar guided surface to air missle set up in his new bbq rig...

Villarreal: UNT wants offensive-minded coach

Is it bad that when I saw this thread title I thought it might be a direct quote from coach during the show?

MGB: Villarreal -- "We have things we need to finish here"
Army of Dad replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
RV's three WBB hires that have actually coached games here breakdown as two disasters and one incomplete, but leaning positive. His two football hires both negative and only 2013 mitigates what might feasibly be considered two disastrous hires. RV got lucky with JJ and full credit to him for doing that, but that is also mitigated by the Benford disaster. That puts him at 1-5-1 in coaching hires and 0-fer in the last decade. Thats just awful and I'm not sure how that record can be defended. -

He shouldn't get a change to screw up the next football hire. Not only that, but by the time his next football hire goes badly he will have hired another MBB coach... Agreed -
UNT athletic director knows what he wants in next football coach
Army of Dad replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Can we just have RV make a list of candidates so we know which coaches we shouldn't hire? Maybe that's what the committee can do, take Rick's list and use it as a guide of what not to do... -
Then I'm not that worried. I have some information that the Gorn can be defeated with rudimentary firearms.

SPORTING NEWS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT MEN'S BB

yeah. I'm not looking forward to that, or the sound of my voice echoing off of the other side of the Super Pit. -
SPORTING NEWS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT MEN'S BB

yeah, I guess we are on the upswing. Even Benford can't keep churning out seasons where we finish in double digits in the standings. -

I'm out of +1s at the moment, but this post deserves more than it's gotten so far. -

only if you and @TheTastyGreek argue about the rules. Perhaps the two of you arguing over the rules that includes a rule not to argue with admins will rupture the fabric of the Mean Green universe and send RV into another dimension. Its really very simple. -
Realistic goals for the rest of the season

Because every team we've played since then is better than SMU?
