Is Benford failing? But that's on the player not hitting shots. Coleman was his recruit, he has talked him up almost nonstop (just like defense and rebounding) and so far not much in the way of results or playing time. We hired a coach that has to learn on the job and it appears his learning curve is very steep. At least as steep as Coleman's. That's on Benford, and this isn't what I would call success.

So that explains our poor 3pt defense!

I partially disagree. I think he is just too tight and forcing it. Most of his three point attempts against Lamar were WIDE open. I kind of wonder if he might not have been better served by shooting when his man was closer, so he must catch and shoot in rhythm. He might have had too much time and space to let him have too much happening in his head.

Disagree. Several time he turned around as if trying to see who hadn't got to play that half. Benford wasn't as bad as in previous games but...

Hard to tell based on the substitution pattern.

Walton was a juco transfer and so an upperclassman whenhe showed up on campus, not a true freshman. There should be a different level of expectation.

He is still on scholarship and if its granted will be next year too. We will have one less ship to give for next season and one more the year after than we originally planned.

That second sentence isn't a very bold statement. We are almost certain not to lose to another DII team this season. I have serious reservations that Benford is our guy. He talks a good game but he hasn't shown the ability to coach one. I preferred Fran to him, but I was behind him 100% until this debacle of a start. I'm still there but more along the lines of soviet political officer behind him rather than supporting him.
