The reason why there were more than 500 at the end of the Jones era and during the Benford era...WINNING! Jones had a tranwreck, rebuilt it and turned it over to RV to find a new conductor. $5 tickets are great, but there needs to be something to get people to come back. I should know, it worked for our family. We have only minor connections to the school, but I started bringing my sons to the games for an affordable and cool thing to do. the play on the court and the effort of the players got us hooked. As our daughter got old enough to go my wife started bringing her to the games too. A couple of seasons later we bought season tickets since we were at almost every game anyways and have gotten only more involved as the years pass. We have our other sports loves, but we now set out schedule by checking UNT MBB first. It can happen, but this season will not attract and hook new fans like us. It will not inspire alumni to get more involved. UNT BB has more support now than anytime in recent history and that hasn't kept JJ's momentum going. The support was there and growing, it will soon begin shrinking if it hasn't already.

I always heard it was more like 100,000 alumni in DFW. What changed, did we hire the SMU attendance counters to do the survey? I talked to almost anyone who would listen about UNT basketball (and some who didn't want to listen). This team was talked up all over by myself and others and Benford is (almost) single handedly killing this program. Support is great, but winning garners support, especially from more than just the die hard fans. Being on GMG certainly qualifies one as a fan, some certainly rise to the die hard level too. The people you are criticizing were supporters through the really bad years and the so-so years while living off the few good years. They've earned the right to bitch and moan and that is one way they can demonstrate passion for all things Mean and Green, but even if all any of us ever did is pump out sunshine and rainbows losing and losing this way will never allow those efforts to work. Winning trumps all, and ol 'Dumpster fire' Tony Benford is going to make sure that support dries up.

We have more donors and financial support, that's up supposed to mean we will win. I guess they forgot to check that before the game... -
What about using a zone to stop the 3?

The other Mitchell? (Walk on Austin) Side note: why isn't ulm pressuring PJ bringing the ball up every time. We have one scholarship pg this game...

Yeah because Alzee has had an attitude for the last five years...

Oh I'm pretty sure the players know that we support them. Their current coach, not so much. Edited to ad: this from the guy who attacks CJ at almost every opportunity!

He had the best game of his career. Don't get too cocky. His offensive game wasn't really the issue. I wanted to see him paired with Mitchell to take some of the offensive pressure off Tony in the block. Rebounding and defense are the major areas of concern with Niko. That was his best defensive effort in a UNT jersey, I hope it continues and he increases the drive for rebounding.

At the last timeout there was less clapping than at a golf tournament.

Another UNT player not dressed out

Alonzo Edwards is here and we could use another big.... -
If the first step to recovery is to admit you have a problem and it appears there isn't anyone willing to admit it in the AD just how long until recovery?

That's just the first half. Benford will coach em up at halftime and we lose by 10.

Hard to argue with that!

Benford was given a team that was on the fast track to conference championship, a NBA lottery draft pick caliber player and a supporting cast among the best in school history. JJ cleaned up the mess from the last coach. It looks like we will need to find another JJ whenever we finally give Benford his walking papers. JJ took a train wreck and rebuilt it into a respectable team.. Benford has turned that team into a dumpster fire.

He will still be a first rounder. Any flaws NBA coaches see in Tony they will think are fixable with good coaching. The big thing for all NBA prospects is getting out of the first contract and getting in the second. That's where the real money is to be made now in the league. Tony will go pro this year, it is his best option.

THIS.

Then we might have a chance!

The same one who hired the last two WBB coaches. Odd that in one sport his recent hires have followed the previous head coach experience "rule" and results are improved.

You would think someone on the inside might know that. Of course we have those that like to go after fans from the area instead of working to bring in other fans.

And I know you are a dick and like to stalk people on GMG. I understand that part of his worldview. You should stop, but you aren't smart enough to realize how you are embarrassing yourself.
