It's interesting you chose that out of my entire post to question. Not that I am surprised. I don't know. Maybe someone will chime in with the answer to that. UAB beat USM in overtime a few weeks back. Guess they're a great team now. Look, if you don't understand the difference between AQ Big East teams and Non-AQ Sun Belt teams in relation to the advantages therein, sorry. Likewise if you don't understand that beating a team (over)ranked solely on their performance the year before in overtime is nothing special, sorry. An average AQ team beating an average AQ team in overtime on the road is nothing special. You make me glad I didn't accept Mizzou's offer to attend school there. I wouldn't have been able to handle my colleagues, I think.

At 1-2, UNC was #23? They finished with a losing record. It took overtime to beat Auburn. They were ranked #12 in week 2 after a 10 point win against Kansas State. Auburn lost the week after to Mississippi State. Hardly a top 15 team. WVU is always ranked high early because of their Big East affiliation and historical "domination". I will concede that was a great win. You believe early season polls way too much though.

Sorry for the confusion, not trying to compare us in the Belt to them in the Big East. Just trying to make a point that they were one of those three also. Each year they've been average in the Big East and done well in OOC. Just like 75% of the AQ teams. The ones that are great win inside and outside their conference. Their opening 6 wins in '07 to get them to #2 and the national attention were against nice, not great teams. They consequently went on to lose 3 straight. I'm not arguing USF's (by proxy, Leavitt's) successes. I just feel they are being a bit overblown.
-
I don't deny they've done well for themselves, but I wouldn't call it a great program. They peaked in '07 at 9-4. You get 5 OOC games in the Big East to pad your record, one being an extra home game. If we go 9-4 that means we either got swept in OOC, were terrible in Sun Belt play or were terribly inconsistent/average. None of those results would be considered great.
-
I'll say what you didn't want to: 3rd, 4th, 3rd, 6th and 4th in the Big East is not a great program. The #4 Div I team in Florida should win or be the bride's maid in that joke of an AQ conference every year. Leavitt is a good coach, but let's tap the brakes on the USF praise.

Where do you think head coaches come from? Your "And?" reply implied agreement with the fact that working with them provides some level of preparation to do the job. Why the 180?
-
You asked what in his past would suggest he would be a good head coach. I answered. Thanks for agreeing. I've never gone on record on where I think the next coach should come from, so I've never said we shouldn't get a top head coach. Pay attention.

He's worked with some of the best head coaches over the past 25 years.

Thanks for the heads up on MG Premium. I noticed that too last night but was encoding some video at the time, so I thought maybe that was the cause. Was considering purchasing sometime in the future, but not anymore.

It's times like this when we need our own deep throat informant.

I am currently looking for work while being a stay-at-home dad. I'll share how I got into my "job" though. When my wife and I were expecting our first child back in '08 we had discussions on child care. We both worked, but came to the conclusion we wanted to make sure our child(ren) always had a parent at home with them. At the time, we were making about the same money. We took the opportunity to cut back and struggle a couple years to ensure a better future. I left work to pursue my MBA full-time in '09 when she went back from maternity leave. She is a teacher, so she would get summers and holidays off which was perfect. I've stayed home and raised our son and finished my MBA (from UNT, of course) in August. Now, I am searching and searching for a career. Everyone's right. It sucks. Lot of work with little, if any, reward. Mean Green Matt: Good luck with the Strategic Management program. I enjoyed every bit of the work involved in earning that degree. It hasn't paid off yet, but I know the investment and sacrifice is going to be well worth it. Go COB!

Green should really be one of your favorite colors. I'm just sayin'... -
If nothing else, this proves Troy will be stiff competition for us tonight.

I can't speak for him but I think his point was he votes third party because they match him AND to send a message. Many people match with a third party but vote a major because of the "can't win" thinking. You led me to believe you support that. Are they kooks that get nominated, or are they kooks because they get nominated by a third party? And as 90 pointed out earlier, there are kooks in every party.
-
It's a shame you don't understand or are lost by third party candidates Flyer (and others on this thread). Furthermore, I can't fathom how voting for someone you believe and trust in is not participating simply because they won't win. They won't win because of the prevailing ignorance that your thought is based off. Euless, the best I could do was get you back to even. Someone with a heart get him into green for me.
-
I'm not being kept from a third party. I've actually contributed to the Greens in the past and have supported Nader in his recent runs. While a little crazy himself, the man has a proven record of change, doing the right thing and is usually correct when warning us about the impact of what the government is doing. He is the prime example of being painted the wrong way.

I can assure you I am not Libertarian. I like to think I am not kooky enough for them. My point was simply that I am not left nor right. Average me out, I am in the center. You have a point about not being able to be moderate on a particular position, but you have to look at the big picture. No political party appeals to me. They've become way too one sided just to spite the other. It is destructive. Last night's results give me hope that nothing will be accomplished for the next two years. Good or bad. But at least the chances of my government pointlessly invading countries or "reforming" healthcare will be at a minimum. Thanks for giving me tired head with the '08 link.

I thought you were in the "Non-pandering" division.

Maybe KingDL1 can fly over all our homes and provide aerial shots.

I hate political "discussion" simply because it is filled with the right and left arguing the same tired points. But you brought up a very misguided idea. As a moderate, centrist, middle-of-the-roadian, whatever... I do have positions and stand for something. I lean left sometimes (mainly socially) and right on many others (mostly fiscally). That puts me in the middle, along with most of the public they say. We have positions and principles, they just aren't completely left or right. I don't blindly follow a party over one or two positions, or how my father raised me or because I'm too ignorant not to. Sadly it seems many fall into that trap. You're not completely right/Republican like you think you are. You are lying to yourself if you think that. The ones you disagree with aren't completely left/Democratic either. They are lying to themselves also. See a trend? I'm not going to sacrifice my views on gay marriage to have tax relief. I'm not going to sacrifice free trade to preserve nature. So, try to respect me. I'm sure I share many views with you and many with the liberals you respect. But please, stop the back-and-forth screw job of America you two parties are locked into. Finally, why watch Billy and Swamp People when 16 and Pregnant was on for 3 hours?

So You're Saying There's A Chance...

FIU would be champs under that scenario at 6-2 in Sun Belt play. -

If all of this is so important, why did it take an innocent question 19 DAYS after the missing flag to get everyone fired up?

Wait, what? -
TapStats only works during home games. I had some issues with it at the Rice game (slow load/crashes), but I think that can be contributed to AT&Ts atrocious network.
