Unt Cracks Top 25 in next few years?

Quick Thoughts: 1) Welcome back Kendrick Hogans. Rusty in the first half, but really solid later on. 2) Tristan missed a few wide open threes that usually fall for him. I expect he will lead this team in PPG by a healthy margin. 3) Shannon Shorter still thinks he is the best player out there any time he is on the floor. Depending on the night that could be good or bad. 4) George's offensive numbers are going to dip without Tramiel, but he had some great passes to cutters. 5) The full court press looked awful when first implemented, but vastly improved as the game wore on. 6) Knox, despite the JJ hype, looks like the same player. 7) This team will be able to win games in a ton of different ways.

Favre, It's Time...

This video is 10000x funnier in retrospect. -
I don't want Greinke for what it would take to get him. Teagarden and Davis are virtually worthless and offering players of the Holland/Beltre/Scheppers/Perez for someone who is not all there in the head is not good. Also people in the area are greatly overrating this farm. It may not even be a top 10 going into 2011.

It’s time to wax poetic about the 2010 Texas Rangers. There is something about seeing the words Rangers and World Series that still mystifies me. Despite going to Game 3 I still am having a hard time grasping the concept that the Texas Rangers were at the pinnacle of baseball. This season has surpassed all expectations, even those of the most eternally optimistic fans. When Vlad Guerrero’s face appeared proclaiming “Es Tine” people scoffed. Optimists pointed toward Rich Harden anchoring the rotation, Scott Feldman’s 17-win season the year before, a plethora of young catching talent that was sure to break through eventually, and Chris Davis would return to 2008 form. Pessimists made light of the back end of the rotation being anchored by a washed out former prospect and an inconsistent reliever, pitchers figuring out Josh Hamilton, and an aging DH who was on his last legs. No one could have predicted what happened this season, and I’m sure I speak for all Rangers fans when I say, thank you. Thank you, Elvis Andrus, for another year of exhilarating defensive plays and stepping up your game when the lights shined their brightest. Thank you, Nelson Cruz, for your boomstick. Thank you, Vlad Guerrero, for single handedly beating the Angels and being an absolute monster in the first half of the season. Thank you, CJ and Colby, for proving everyone wrong. Thank you, Rich Harden, for finally getting launched into the sun. Thank you, Mitch Moreland, for restoring balance to the blackhole that was first base. Thank you, Bengie Molina, for two of the greatest/most unexpected baseball moments I have ever seen. Thank you, Matt Treanor, for being the MVP(?). Thank you, David Murphy, for making the most out of your playing time. Thank you, Darrens, for being so consistent. Thank you, Chris Davis, for giving me your origami seal at Pizza Hut. Thank you, Michael Young, for making me feel like I could be a professional baseball player again. Thank you, Dustin Nippert, for being the punch line of bullpen jokes even after taking a line drive to the head. Thank you, Michael Kirkman and Alexi Ogando, for two of the most incredible journeys to the majors I have ever read. Thank you, Tommy Hunter, for drenching that velvet-wearing douche, Sagar. Thank you, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, for starting this season off with a bang 178 long games ago. Thank you, Ian Kinsler, for the FIGJAM skipping after hitting that bomb against the Rays. Thank you, Cliff Lee, for breaking bats and melting faces. Even if this is your last season as a Ranger. Thank you, Josh Hamilton, for being the best baseball player I have ever set my eyes on. I hope there will be more MVPs and Gold Gloves in your future (assuming you get both). Thank you, Wash, for somehow being so damn likeable despite all the crazy in-game things you do and for teaching me about the ever-mysterious booty hole. Thank you, Chuck and Nolan, for getting Tom Hicks the hell away from this team. And most of all thank you, JD. What you did this year was nothing short of incredible. For years you touted 2010 to be the year of the Rangers and, despite your many criticisms in the beginning, you delivered this town something to be incredibly proud of.

I think Josh Johnson is better than Cain, but he gets more love. Also, remember the Josh Johnson/Rangers rumors earlier this year? -

I will be listening to this non stop for the next 15 hours -
Fransisco is a Type A free agent so if we offer him arbitration and he goes elsewhere we get the first round pick of the team that signs him and a pick in the compensation round. With the ascension of Ogando and the presumed promotion of Scheppers next year I think the dollars would be better spent elsewhere.

105.3 The Fan Bad Mouthing Unt

Just like bashing the Fan. -
I don't know what you have seen, but the Elvis I have been watching is hitting .252 with 5 extra base hits since the All-Star break. There is no way this kid should be the lead off hitter of a playoff team. Josh's injury is similar to the one that held Jacoby Ellsbury out most of this year. It is supposed to be a pain tolerance thing as long as his ribs aren't displaced, but knowing that Josh wont hold back, especially in the playoffs, I don't know how long it would be before something jars them loose. Broken ribs usually take about 2 months to heal. I'm optimistic he will play, but I don't think he will be at full capacity.

Let's not spend so much money on a high profile head football coach that we won't be able to keep JJ if he gets an offer from another school.

Can Ben Knox play QB?
-
Injuries are probably robbing Dodge of a chance at a decent record, but this team needs to turn over a new leaf next year. The new stadium should be the start to a new regime and change the attitude of this program. This team cannot take the next step with Todge at the helm.
