  1. "McNutly" lmao ....that is unfortunate
  2. I guess one day this week I will have to go to Denton because I am not buying black either. Plus... I can stakeout a practice
  3. then he needs to clean up his wiki article
  4. Not that I wish ill-will on any one particular person.... but if we can get Ash out of the game we have a definite chance to upset. You listening Laramie and Ellis?
  5. here is his huddle http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1356509/jamario-thomas
  6. looks like he is playing for the Oklahoma Defenders in the Champions Professional Indoor Football League http://www.cpifl.org/stats/okd.htm
  7. UT - loss SMU - win LaTech - win Nicholls State - win Indiana - loss UAB - win Southern Miss - win Rice - win FAU - loss UTEP - win FIU - win UTSA - win CUSA Championship- Loss Bowl game - Win 10-4
  8. seriously.... we have more running backs (who perform) than we know what to do with!
  9. Boone had 3 concussions his senior year. Reminded me of Billy Bob from Varsity Blues. Knew he would never see the field though
  10. Orr just made the tackle on the KO return
  11. They would NEVER allow UTSA into the Big 12. Just as they would never allow UTEP. The Flagship sure as hell isn't about to give out the obvious signal that in their eyes the feeder schools are equal. Especially one that is 1 hour away. If SMU vetos us for any conference that shares a geographic print with them then UT sure as shit isn't going to allow UTSA to share in it's domain.
  12. Section 32 is our allotted section... I am in 31 trying to hold it down
  13. I bought in section 31 row 16. Couldn't pay $100 to sit behind the corner of an endzone. $15 extra gets me at least at the 15 yard line
  14. hearing the name Jeffrey Wilson every day in the practice reports....just sayin
  15. When will you announce publicly to the metroplex that we are playing SMU on Sept 6th? Will there be commercials for just that game or are you just going to do a season ticket promo?
  16. Remember the time a P5 school rushed the field when they played little ole North Texas??
  17. While it sucked that it had to happen it VERY OBVIOUSLY had an impact on Big Dick Abbe (aka the Penetrator) last year.
  18. hit the nail right on the head. If he just would have committed to us in the first place he wouldn't have to go through this. Can't believe he would pick So. Miss over us with the shellacking we gave them in The Rock. I did read that his options had dwindled down to USM, Houston Baptist and Mass so I wonder if we pulled the offer after filling the need.
  19. ohhh yeah. So. Miss would never allow him to play for us the same year he left. Sounds like he is going to JUCO for now

  21. http://drchighschoolblog.dentonrc.com/2014/08/former-ryan-standout-j-t-williams-no-longer-at-southern-miss.html/ "Former Ryan standout J.T. Williams is no longer at Southern Miss. Williams and the university confirmed the defensive tackle’s departure from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. A spokesperson for the Southern Miss athletic department said Williams left the team voluntarily and did not violate team rules. A slim shot at playing time and the distance from Denton played big roles in Williams’ decision to head home. “I stuck it out for the whole summer and things still didn’t look good,” Williams said. “I wasn’t liking it down there.” The former Ryan defensive tackle had 67 tackles last season, with nine of those coming behind the line of scrimmage. He also had five sacks and two forced fumbles. Williams said he sat down with the Golden Eagles’ coaching staff, which wanted the Ryan graduate to redshirt his freshman year, something that didn’t sit well with Williams."
  22. "If you could pick the musical entertainment for Fry Fest (Coralville’s annual festival named after the coach), what would it be? HF: No question I’d get Willie Nelson. … Willie and I became real good friends. He did a benefit show for me at North Texas. After the big show, we had a reception out on the ranch, and a lot of my coaching staff, the (school) president and so forth, different people, were there. Willie walks up to me and says, ‘Aren’t you the coach?’ And I said, ‘Yes, sir.’ He said, ‘Who’s got my damn check’” And I said, ‘The athletic director.’ And he said, ‘Where is that S.O.B?’ And I said, ‘Well I’m the athletic director, too.’ And he said, ‘Well give me my damn check.’ I had it made out, at that time … back in the ’70s, I can’t remember the exact year, the check was for 40 thousand bucks. And I handed it to him. He said, ‘You’ve got a pen?’ I said, ‘Yes, sir.’ He said, ‘Give it to me.’ I gave it to him. He endorsed it right back to the North Texas Athletic Department and handed it to me, winked at me, said ‘enjoy’ and walked away. That’s back when he had the reputation that he was smoking pot and all those bad things about him. And here he was, did the show for zip and handed me back the check. He’s a great musician, a great person and that’s who’d I’d recommend. We tried to get him one year, for the Fry Fest, but his schedule was filled."
  23. http://hawkcentral.com/2013/02/28/catch-up-with-iowa-legend-hayden-fry-as-he-turns-84/ "How influential was former athletics director Bump Elliott in getting you to take the job at Iowa? HF: He was the main reason I took the job at Iowa. Plus the fact that I had four consecutive winning teams after I took over at North Texas. They hadn’t had a winning season in 12 to 14 years. My first year we were co-champions of the Missouri Valley Conference. And then I had teams that were 10-1, 9-2, 8-3 and 7-4 that didn’t get a bowl bid. So I called the NCAA and said, ‘What’s going on?’ Back in those days, they didn’t have a rule that if you won seven games, or whatever it is today, six games, you were eligible for a bowl game. We had these great teams — we’d even upset Tennessee, who was No. 5 in the nation. But anyway, I called the NCAA — it’s kind of a cute story. I said, ‘What’s going on? I’m having these teams winning and so forth and we don’t get a bowl bid?’ And they started laughing. I asked the gentleman on the phone, ‘What are you laughing about?’ He said, ‘Obviously, nobody wants to play you.’ That’s the other reason I went to Iowa."
