Familiarity Breeds Contempt For U N T / S M U
All About UNT replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football

Totally want to believe that. But I also don't discount human emotions when it comes to being attached to your friends/family and what you would do for them. Preparing him to be the starting QB and then replacing him right before the first game is something I can't see him doing without letting him "try out" on the field (as in a couple of games at least). Mac is an old dog and one that isn't here to learn new tricks. He is fiercely loyal to those that "buy in" and when you look at the team there cannot be more than a few people that "buy in" more than AM. Remember that Smith failed his classes and was ineligible to practice in Spring due to that mess up. Had Smith showed in Spring I feel that he could have established his potential dominance over the other QBs with a larger sample size that excuses Mac from any guilt of benching someone he has known since he was a baby. We don't need Smith to be a superstar.... we just need him to be a Div 1 QB which is more than what we currently have on the roster.

my only concern is that Mac delays naming Smith due to needing an undeniable excuse to take the spot away from one of his best friend's sons. Choking a couple of games gives him that excuse. That is why I hope SMU forces us to pass to expose the weakness there as quickly as possible (if Smith is in fact a better QB). Mac's son is really good friends with McNulty so this just further embeds him as the starting qb barring some scenario where he cannot possibly defend playing AM over someone else. If we are able to squeak by on our running game then nothing changes and we win 3-4 games.

Class of 2016 progress report
All About UNT replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Couple things here: 1.) We should make this the pinned 2016 Recruiting thread with list of players that have received offers from us and their current committal status 2.) Issues with the style of recruiting or lack of commitments would need to be placed in other threads and to merely keep this one as an informative thread if at all possible 3.) Once a particular player commits or comes off the board (to another school) we should change the title of the thread to include that -Closed status and make it easier on tracking those who are in play still. Of course .... if a player commits to UNT we can change the title to include the term -Committed at the end of the Title for the thread. For Example: " '16 TE/WR Austin Davis (Klein Oak)" would now read " '16 TE/WR Austin Davis (Klein Oak) - Closed ULL" or even "-Committed ULL" at the end of the Title. Billy and others... if you agree with those terms being used (feel free to present alternatives) then we can get started on that right away and get this years Recruiting Forum looking cleaner than ever before. Advantages to this style would be that when the player, friends and family of said player types in their name + terms like "Committed" to see who is talking about them then we would have updated threads that could rank higher and produce more visibility for our discussions of these players. So why the secrecy on his desire to walk-on?
-
oh yeah....that's exactly what he is thinking! You tell him Andrew!

and Richard favorited that tweet. He appears to be looking for a home for this Fall since he is a redshirt freshman (this past year) http://www.scout.com/junior-college-football/story/1519786-still-available-qb-richard-lagow With Dajon gone on to other things... do we have room for him, McNotGonnaWin and Smith to square off this fall? He had the 2nd highest passing yards per game in Juco and if these stats are somehow accurate... a 99% completion rate http://stats.njcaa.org/sports/fball/2014-15/players/richardlagowb1qf Dude apparently only started in 7 games last year but threw for 2,900 yards and 29 touchdowns. Suck me sideways. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/586266/highlights/250890380/v2 He has 5 offers now from SELA, PV A&M and others in the area but if we haven't given him the opportunity to come compete right away then we are just stoooooopid. We have a serious situation at QB and everyone but the staff knows that Greer and McNotGonnaWin will not result in a winning season. Means needs more time and Chumley is getting lip serviced until they have the scro to tell him to shift to another position. We might have 25 Qbs but not one has proven to be a Div 1 QB and that means that there is room for someone else to make a splash. I really hope Smith comes in and steals away any and all hopes that McNotGonnaWin starts but we know that probably won't happen for political reasons. The coaches need to give this guy a chance right now and start fall off with optimism rather than the current status of pessimism that has deeply affected this program and the fan's expectations of it. .

What the heck is this? Are we under attack by ISIS?
-
Not like that at all. We have mutual friends and talked about all the great things happening in Denton.

Just had my AC checked up today and as soon as the tech walked in I knew he was from Denton. Told me his girl sings this song and that they are doing a music video on the square coming up. I know this is the football forum but things are slow https://soundcloud.com/amandadawn-3/im-so-denton

The Dallas stop has been in bad locations as well. Should have it in the Four Corners area. Tons of parking and ease of access. Inside of the Cotton Bowl, a hotel on 635, inside of a concert venue and other such locations is just begging for bad attendance.

I would say good luck holding onto him but he has ALREADY received the big offers and still said no. Guys like that just need to be reminded that if you are who everyone thinks you are then you're going to the NFL regardless of what team you played for in college. I would give my left nut to have a 5 star commit come to UNT.

MGB: UNT women add yet another transfer
All About UNT replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
So if these girls are all on scholarship this next year and are sitting on the bench..... what happens to our "depth"? This upcoming season sounds like a write-off for sure but we have swiftly become Transfer U in women's bball. Dangerous move but I hope it pays off
