As per Mean Green Report "As first reported by TMGR, receiver Darius Carey returned to practice with a broken hand suffered while helping his mother move in New Orleans. Coach Todd Dodge said Carey "won’t catch any balls in camp.” “We hope to get him back for the first game [at Clemson], but definitely I want to get him back for Rice and Army,” Dodge said. Carey, who has four stitches on his right hand reattaching the webbing between his pinky and fourth fingers, said the injury resulted from a “bad fall.” Riley Dodge and Alex Lott back up the inside receiver positions, so at least one of them figures to start at Clemson. Carey, who said he’ll be ready Sept. 4, said rather than admonish him for not being careful, the coaching staff has been “helping me through it, keeping me focused and keeping everything positive. I’m kind of happy about that.” Carey otherwise appears in the best shape of his career, but standing around the rest of August will test his mental toughness, he said."

Mean Green Blog "UNT lost its kicker in Jeremy Knott and deep snapper in Christian Davidson and holder Nathan Tune looks like he might start at quarterback."

However, after a sub-par rookie season he was switched to right tackle, where he found moderate success, starting at this position for the Buccaneer's Super Bowl XXXVII victory over the Oakland Raiders. Walker's tendency to be penalized when facing superior pass rushers has led many Bucs fans to label him a bust.[1] On March 1, 2007, the Buccaneers released Walker. Carolina Panthers On August 13, 2007, The Carolina Panthers signed Walker as a free agent. He was released by the team on September 1 during final cuts. 5 Most Painful Losses That I Can Recall

5) Road loss to Arizona in 2002 - UNT loses 14-9. Patrick Cobbs was stopped on 4th down just 2 yards away from the end zone and George Marshall fumbled a reception on the Arizona 10-yard line in the fourth quarter which could have put UNT ahead for good. a link to the recap of that game says Cobbs was stopped inside the 1 yd line. Recap Everyone has a down year....but AZ really stunk that year and we were robbed of joining with teams (almost the entire Pac 10) in establishing our dominance over the Wildcats that year Wildcats 2002 Season Schedule -
I would agree...and so does my DVR that scorns me for still having this game saved inside of it. The honest to God is that we would have no idea knowing what season would have come out of last year if we had won that game...but I can swear on my momma that it would have been a better season if we had won

Could The Dominoes Be Falling In Unts Favor ?
All About UNT replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I am truly hoping that the weight of our Basketball Team and other sports is remembered in the deciding factors of the Conference considering UNT for stepping up to bat....I love our football program but I just don't want it to be the only thing gauged. -
It is almost Time!

So my question...the full cash bar?? How does that not break NCAA regulations again? Not that I don't bring a little tasty beverage into the game here and there anyway (don't bust me Emmitt)

good point on Hall....as for the whether or not he "stinks"...I don't think he does. The facts are that he threw too many interceptions last year for us to win some games. Defense had problems yes...they also lost us some games. The topic is one that has been argued and there is no point to it...I just want a QB with a 135+ Rating this year..and consistently...I also think that Nathan or Derek can do that for us.
-
I watched it...but I also watched Middle Tenn, Army, ULL and ULM where in each game he threw 3 interceptions. We cannot win games no matter how much our defense improves if games like this occur again. I don't bash Reilly but I cannot see how you are so quick to thumbs down a guy for saying what so many are thinking....when do we get a star QB like Hall again?

Colorado...you might be right.

Rice Review "Week 2: Rice University Owls at University of North Texas Mean Green Last Meeting: 9/27/2008 in Houston, Texas; Owls won 77-20 All-time Series Record: 2-0 This will be a key game for the Owls, why? Because if they can't beat the Mean Green then it is doubtful that they could beat anyone on their schedule. Rice's offensive "weapons" will be have to be at the top of their game, though, as they try and compete with the high octane offense of North Texas. Luckily, Nathan Tune is likely to get the nod at quarterback otherwise Riley Dodge would be ripping the Owls a new *#@hole." Ya know....I'm sorry....I was at dinner last night with a bunch of Big 12 Schools Alum (notably UT heavy) and football came up. Lots of hoopla about UT's Gilbert and how he is "higher rated than Colt ever was" and made reference to the Championship game. I made mention of our backup having played against Bama in his second game (first starting) and threw 0 interceptions against Bama vs. Gilbert's 4. I also could rest easy predicting that Riley would have thrown at least 2. Now I love Reilly....but...I cannot see how if Nathan were our QB that some writer thinks I season is down the tubes. Of course noone follows our program like we do (esp writers not focused on one team) but still...at least read Nathan's stats before you make assumptions.

if the Big East is true.....could it be USF?? Imagine the irony there.

100% agree....Rice is without a doubt a must win. How would the team feel about the potential of getting crushed by Clemson followed up by losing the first home game. It sets the tone for the rest of the season.

Look at the new GA's college record TRAVIS BELL STATS Receiving Statistics No Yds Avg TD 2006 0 0 0.0 0 2005 4 42 10.5 2 2004 0 0 0.0 0 Career 4 42 10.5 2 what gives? 4 plays = 2 TDs??? WTH would AZ not play him more? -
I don't mean to bash the school...but that was probably not a realistic option considering where he was getting offers from...in combination with him being a 4 star.

Helmet Color, Troy Signs Player With Legal History
All About UNT replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
"Elder originally signed with Alabama in 2007 as a two-star defensive end out of North Clayton High School near Atlanta." Sigh of relief.....only a two star. I was concerned that a second chance 4 star had just joined the ranks of Troy. This guy probably didn't see one lick of playing time at Bama anyway. -
Marquee Games Highlight Unt Schedule

I'm sorry...why on earth are we playing Texas St. twice this season??? I love the beginning of the schedule but cannot see how playing them twice will benefit us.
