Franchione interviewed for the San Diego State University head coaching job in 2008 when the school fired Chuck Long,[45] and ended up being a finalist for the job alongside then-Ball State head coach Brady Hoke and UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker. The job eventually went to Hoke.[46] Franchione recently applied for the head coaching position at UNLV, following Mike Sanford's termination as head football coach after the 2009 season.[47] Franchione interviewed with UNLV's Athletic Director Jim Livengood on December 21, 2009 but was not selected.[48] Both jobs were under $500k with UNLV reportedly paying around $350,000 before incentives. BIG news broke a week ago about his son....who may need to seek exit from Blinn Link to article (scroll down) "That incident involved a short-lived suspension of Franchione that was lifted just hours after it was imposed. Franchione was accused of wrongfully selling seats at Spencer Stadium. An investigation or review of the incident has been conducted."

5 Things Canales Can Do To Become A Better Candidate
All About UNT replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm sorry but it's not gonna happen. I have allot of respect for the man but we have to have a name in here and he doesn't have one. Not for HC anyway. Pair him up with Leavitt again and those two could work magic together and when Leavitt uses us as a springboard to the bigger and better then if Mike is still with us we can give deep consideration to his chances. -
Coach Blakely Passes Away
All About UNT replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Sports ILL. Last season North Texas State Coach Bill Blakeley put a sign on the back of his chair at courtside that read DON'T EXPECT MIRACLES. Blakeley then proceeded to take a team that was 6-20 in 1975, went 22-4 and averaged 96 points a game—second highest in the nation. But the Eagles weren't invited to either the NCAA tournament or the NIT, so Blakeley is beefing up his schedule by dropping all non-Division I teams. The Eagles can fly; there is not a player on the team who can't dunk. Junior-college transfer Charles McMillian, a 6'3" forward with a 22.5-point average, can perform a 42-inch vertical jump. R.I.P. Bill....you will be missed. -
well in response to the Leavitt question....has anyone dissected their relationship and how well they worked together?

Grow up Richard Abbe...tired of seeing his name pop up for in-practice scuffles. Kid is going to alienate himself from the rest of the team for thinking he is such a Billy Bad Ace.

Most Comprehensive Potential Hc List To Date
All About UNT replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
This is definitely the list of lists....someone forward it to RV and have him call the entire list. -
why no offer yet?? as per OU Hoops OU Hoops on Dallas Talent Power Forward, 6’7″, 200 | Garland, TX | Naaman Forest H.S. Scouted: vs. Colleyville Heritage Scouting Report: Currently projects as a mid to high major recruit. Has great height in the 6-foot-7 range, but currently lacks the bulk which would make him an elite level recruit. Showed good athletic ability, but was not overly active in the paint. He would attempt to get position, but failed to be very aggressive in posting up and getting open offensively. Also was not very physical on the defensive end. Has athleticism and height, but his body needs to continue to mature and add weight to be much of a force in the paint. He would benefit from developing more of a mean streak on the court. Overall, though, still athletic and has the height as a high school sophomore. Certainly a player to watch over the next few years.

Who We Don't Want As A Head Coach
All About UNT replied to meangreenbob's topic in Mean Green Football
And while that is true... I believe that most of that hype was contained to the North Texas area where his name was on the map. The rest of the nation was intrigued by our choice of a winning high school football coach and the experimental aspect of the situation. Just a thought. -

Should the true question be....who is Bob most likely to yell at? Just kidding Bob! -

Political Correctness And Player Discipline

What about Butt Slaps?? Could a coach be brought up on Sexual Harassment charges for that age-old tradition? -
My only worry was the money with Leavitt....but after seeing how Fran can't land the last two positions he applied for in the 350k-500k region...that has to be in the thought process of Leavitt. If Fran was scorned for his mistakes and has issues seeking employment.....then will he follow down the same road? Would a 500-600k job make more than enough sense for Leavitt to commit to? I would say so.

Why Mike Leach To North Texas Could Work
All About UNT replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I think we can all admit that if Mike were to come the money would follow....meaning that our fan base would be so invigorated that the money would present itself in order to pay him. Offer 750k a year plus incentives and I guarantee you that the fan base that would form from the hire alone would pay for this man. -

According to my summations....you are correct -
Turned it around and then some....minus their TAMU loss I don't think they have a loss this year and have really put the hurt onto some teams they play. Guy is an all around catch. Not gonna compare him with TCU and BSU's situation but if there were one Texan looking to break out and make a big name for himself then this is the guy that can do it. We can afford him easily as well.

Look where some of the Blinn players have been going when they sign. If we can't beat out the Big 12 teams by recruiting high school students then by picking up both Frans we can utilize those connections to siphon off players we wouldn't have had a chance to recruit anyway. Last year's Texas JC commits

Then let me throw mine into the lot.... JC Harper of SFA if we are going to pick a IIA coach primed for the IA leap.

What Will We Pay Our Next Head Coach ?
All About UNT replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Here is the list of the Sunbelt Conference and current salaries Sunbelt Salaries According to my statistical calculations At 600k a year we would be 200k over the next highest paid coach (Mario Cristobal at FIU) I see no reason why we can't get a solid coach at 500k or less.... The last coaching jobs that Fran applied for was at UNLV (350k before incentives with up to 450k a year) and before UNLV there was SDSU where Holke currently makes 675k.
