  1. This was your old login MeanGreen4Life1998 and it was awhile ago so hopefully you will stay onboard and bear with it like most of us have. We have a small number (comparatively) of alumni who give a shit about this program so it's good to have you contribute here.
  2. You have been here hours "officially" so you might be a bit late on common knowledge... and not to deter from that commitment to join GMG. FYI... I am not the AD, or an employee of, so I didn't and wasn't responsible for his extension.
  3. Yes. Let them all enter the transfer portal MONTHS before finding out who the new head coach would be that could possibly keep them here in Denton. Makes total sense.
  4. Pony up his buyout then. We literally save 2 million, we don't really have on-hand, to do it at the end of the year.
  5. and in case you miss the link to other Hayden Fry games at North Texas https://digital.library.unt.edu/search/?fq=str_title_serial:"Hayden Fry NTSU Coaching Film Collection"
  6. So I was just going through the fan-boards of both teammates and conferences and I am seeing so much of a lack of regard for who North Texas has history with. Obviously many of us know about UT and 1988 But archived (below) are clips of the 1976 Texas (19) vs. North Texas State game that ended as a 14-17 loss by the good guys. I assume they have been posted here before but at the least I figured it need a refresh PLUS you can find the links to other Hayden Fry Era games here https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc272161/
  7. Agreed. Again I can't pin the QB issues on Fuente alone. It isn't as cut and dry as the QB issues at NT that solely lie on Seth's feet for the situation we are in. Seth has literally had one decent QB in 6 years and that kid was a Mighty Mouse (no offense Mason Fine...we love you) who no-one else even gave a look at.
  8. No I get the adversity thing. I wish he was able to convince the two quarterbacks that transferred or left for the draft to stay... That's all. I literally just had a call with Harry and I am totally on board with Fuente if he is available.
  9. My thing is the QB roster management... 2016 he brings in Jerod Evans from Trinity Valley who breaks all sorts of QB records... then declares for the draft and goes UDFA instead of taking his senior year. 2017's heir apparent Josh Jackson lights it up too but then bounces to the Terps after being asked to compete for the starting job after being injured the next year. Of course he does barely anything at Maryland 2018 Kansas transfer Ryan Willis takes over and has a 28 touchdowns on the year.. good start. 2019 Willis regresses a bit and Hendon Hooker gets the nod. Has a great start with 18 total TDs and 2 INTs 2020 Hooker starts again and Va Tech plays just 7 games (he was out for 2). With a 3-4 record on the year they lost 3 games by a total of 14 points. 2021 Hooker transfers to Tenn for his graduate year and is currently lighting it up 17 TDs in the air and 2 INTs and another 4 TDs on the ground. Burmeister is the VA Tech Qb and has the weakest stat line since Fuente has been there. that is a ton of turnover at the starting QB position. The talent has certainly been there (until this year anyway).
  10. https://247sports.com/Article/College-football-coaching-search-news-rumos-Justin-Fuente-Virginia-Tech-173963178/
  11. No he wouldn't. He is onto bigger and better things. His name needs to be put to rest. *My fault.. I thought I was responding to the question about Traylor taking the UNT job
  12. Fuente definitely recruited Texas far stronger than other names mentioned while he was at Memphis (sans his first year). Quite a few of those Texas players were starters for many years on the Tiger's squad as well. Seems like his main focus was around the Houston area but he had some DFW players as well... of course this is some time ago so the HS head coaches of those teams might have moved on.
  13. And this is my knock on Neal Brown. In his 4 years at Troy he recruited three Texas players and two were from JUCO... none made an impact. Same with WVU only just one Texas player (also from Navarro). Absolutely zero ties with Texas except for one JUCO... That's a no from me on Neal Brown.
  14. I was expecting to lose to the Fighting Pool Boys but I never expected to have a lead at the half or to be as dominant as we were in the first half. Of course I totally expected that we would piss that away in some form or fashion.
  15. That's exactly what he meant. If Seth only wins another game this year and gets fired that certainly isn't a knee-jerk reaction like the one he was referring to earlier in the year when we were all clamoring for his immediate firing.
  16. That was a stupid hire in the first place. He also never should have taken that job. He could have continued at Utah State, his alma mater, indefinitely and they probably would be ranked under his reign. Wells didn't check any of the boxes that a large Texas school would typically go after.
  17. Odom and Fuente both have worked with Wren.
  18. It wasn't them bragging about their endowment. They were bragging about their athletic budget... Which when you break it down is largely driven by a very high student fee. Highest in the conference and it's not even close. In 2020 North Texas acquired 13 million in student fees. In the same year ODU Athletics acquired 32 million in student fees. https://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances/232982
  19. I couldn't name one North Texas fan that is excited about leaving a conference that doesn't involve you guys.
  20. But in all seriousness... I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone associated with the program that knew which players would be off campus.
  21. Why the sudden change of heart though? I thought they were pretty high on mickens?
  22. I literally said that to Harry this week
