"IRVING — All indications are that six-time Pro Bowl guard Brian Waters won’t be re-signed by the Dallas Cowboys, but club executive vice president Stephen Jones wouldn’t slam the door shut on the possibility.
When the Cowboys used their first-round pick Thursday on Notre Dame’s Zack Martin, who they envision as their starting right guard in 2014, it seemed to signal there was no chance Waters would return.
Waters, 37, played in seven games for the Cowboys last season at right guard before suffering a season-ending torn triceps Oct. 27 at Detroit.
Waters has yet to have surgery to repair his triceps. He would need at least three months of rehabilitation to get back on the field, and the Cowboys begin training camp in late July."
