  1. haha. You will be fine! No one is at the game, so you won't be frustrated with the ineffectiveness of game day. If I were bringing a little crowd to tailgate, I would just buy a pass in the Orange lots (old fouts) and just setup my day there and walk the bridge before kick off. There really isn't too much going on with the hill area (since no students come really) and there isn't much in the way for kids... Bring a grill, radio, chiminea and a cooler and your friends and family can enjoy urban camping with one another in the shadows of Fout's former glory.
  2. The UNT team that played SMU, UNLV and Memphis - not a chance at winning. The UNT team that played FAU - maybe. Maybe can win. That score could have been easily reversed. The UNT team that played La Tech - they have some chance at winning.
  3. I loved seeing Horton in running the ball like it was a punt return. The blocks were setup, delayed hand-offs, ready to pick his holes. Was great to see!
  4. Feels like this has run the course. You can still get you down-votes on record though! 😜
  5. Maybe it was signed by the police? My 8 year old son said "that guy must have really wanted that ball - was it signed by every player?" He legit thought the ball was the reason he went on the field - kind of innocently cute. However, my punching commentary comes from my 8 year old son because he was pointing out the balder/older cop laying into the guy with punches. He was legit like "what the hell!?" Not in a BLM kind of way, but in a "MAN YOU CAN'T PUNCH PEOPLE!!! YOU ARE THE ONE IN CONTROL OF HOW YOU REACT!" sort of way -- you know -- the talk that all parents give their kids. edit: In fact, this posted video shows the last punch from the white-haired cop. Prior to this filming though, he laid in a barrage of punches while four other cops were on top.
  6. Punches *are* excessive. The cops were not "going to just walk him out" until he resisted. They didn't even notice what was going on until he walked up TO them. But whatever, whatever, maybe I have too high of an expectation for the capabilities of police. A winded drunk dude with a football shouldn't require five cops or sucker punches.
  7. Here's my hot take - he was obviously imbibed, but wasn't violent. The gaggle of police in the endzone weren't even paying attention. The drunk guy ran up to the cops and he paused like "aren't you going to grab me... or... nah?" So he tried to shuffle past them and out of the stadium with the ball. The cops looked around, paused, realized this guy is out of place and the reason the 200 fans in the stadium were cheering and then dog piled him. Five(?) on one and they can't grab his arms and control him? Geez. Then one of the cops starts throwing in some midsection punches while drunk dude is on the ground... It was excessive and the cops weren't even paying attention. The whole scene was brought to their doorstep in a handbasket and they sucked. But obviously, the drunk fan should not have been out there. Let's just consider him a unit test on the system though. 8. I think the pressure to upsell parking and the counting all pennies mentality has killed game day. You want to charge people hundreds of dollars to park an RV or limit where blue lot people can congregate -when no one is even there? Truly kills the desire. I haven't tailgated in years at UNT because i hated the unknowns every week. I used to love setting up early morning or the night before - but under Wren they constantly applied more pressure and took all the fun out. I notice all the people that used to be out no longer show. There's barely any presence of a real game day - outside of @flyonthewall setup with RV - it's really a downer.. That's all on Wren. The concept of tailgating on a hill far from your car is stupid BTW. I'd open up tailgating by the stadium - pay lots only in the dirt across the streets or by be fouts. As many buses as possible to bring people from the tennis/softball lots. Have a crap ton of bounce houses and be slides for kids - not the ones that require some BS junior mean green membership. Have a relevant sounding band - modern folk? Or hell, some frat party wedding cover band.. ben e keith free drinks. How about a party bus that picks up people on the square or by fry - for the sole purpose of getting butts NEAR the stadium. Let people bring RVs FREE - a line of RVs makes it feel like a real game day. One sad ass RV amongst the "reserve not sold" spots away from everything - is sad as AF. Without people NEAR the stadium, you can't get them IN the stadium. Edit: oh yeah - I'd fix the damn ingress/egress situation. It's absurd. If someone does that once, they don't want to come back. Another, side note, to tailgating - prior to electronic tickets with no cell phone data, high ass daily RV fees and the unknowns of parking, I used to buy up to a dozen extra tickets to the game and would always have the pitch "come and tailgate - yeh, yeh, I know you don't have a ticket, I have an extra don't worry." I would personally get butts, into the stadium from my pride of wanting my friend to enjoy what I enjoy. Now, I really just only worry about me getting into the game. I don't see that changing with this AD.
  9. I'm going to pay an AD $750k a year to figure it out.
  10. Interesting.. Wonder what they do for the highest ranking minority? edit: forgot the sarcasm slash. /s
  11. Huh? That is the student section - the game is in progress. The band is all in their seats (as you can see to the left of the picture.
  12. Definitely -- much like the pictures floating around here of our last two games. Here's one I took at the start of the 3rd quarter with our ~19k(?). FAU may have more on their sideline that we have in those stands. But again, weird flex to say UCLA has less than our local highschool games or 41k for conference games is pathetic and those twins somehow made the wrong choice to play there (I think that is the implication?)
  13. Right - but that venue is separate from their attendance. They can't build an on campus stadium, so they are stuck with the Rose Bowl. They have tried to get a vote to approve a stadium of their own, but it always fails because of NIMBY mentality.
  14. Averaging over 41k for conference games is U-G-L-Y? I dream to be that ugly one day.
  15. Truth - and even in this strange year of crap scheduling for them they are at 31k average. Pretty strange flex to bash their attendance when their average is higher than our all time high.
  16. His pads were off for the rest of the game, but he wasn't iced up or braced in any way that I could see. Off-week makes more sense.
  17. I don't see any report on his status - luckily he has two weeks to heal up if it isn't serious. Garbage time injuries.
  18. Totally - I need symmetry in my life.
  19. I've lived and learned enough in life to know that when someone doesn't want to be here, then I don't want them here. I don't know anything about Wren, but if he leaves, then so be it. We have a solid position for hiring - do you see what he makes here? That is ridiculously competitive - especially when the top sport is a constant sad trombone.
  20. If you have been watching Darden in the NFL, he is not really pulling his weight. Penalties and half ass energy. I am surprised he is still on the roster at all. I thought when Beasley got signed it was a sure practice squad placement for Darden.
