I had it on my tailgate playlist -- but it started to get me down. I had to remove it.

Maybe it shouldn't be called the "Monthly Letter" anymore.

A Lesson From Josh Rake
SteaminWillieBeamin replied to SteaminWillieBeamin's topic in Mean Green Football
My bad. It was weed. DUI .. -
I think the only reason Teegarden wasn't in the running is because he is a true freshman. He seems like a solid QB recruit. I don't know the story on Baine -- besides having three quality QB going into the season should be enough and they wanted his ability elsewhere for the year. I don't really follow this criticism. We are in no way worse off at QB. Under the previous coach we started a walk-on safety, then had the 4A state champ, then back to the walk-on. Then a QB dropout. We effectively had one good QB recruit and he wasn't at the top of the HS world either, but he was a quality game managing QB. He didn't light up the scoreboard or win games on his raw ability. I think recruiting Vizza, Dodge, Thompson and Teegarden should be enough QB talent in four years. It isn't like we went into the season knowing we would be starting the walk-on fourth stringer.

A Lesson From Josh Rake
SteaminWillieBeamin replied to SteaminWillieBeamin's topic in Mean Green Football
It is directed at those that aren't immediately affected and wrought with emotion overload. Most the football team didn't know Rake, he just recently started suiting up for practice. It is still a powerful lesson, far beyond the "life is short" "live like there is no tomorrow" "better get to know god" generic talk about death. In Lewisville there is a billboard with the graphic of some HS student that killed himself driving drunk. It looks like it was put up by his family to help drive the point to the general audience how it is a critically poor decision to drive drunk. Be sure to tell your family that you are a registered organ donor. All the time surgeons are in a bad spot trying to tell a wife that her husband is an organ donor and there is a nearly violent reaction to say it isn't the case. Any how, carry on. I just thought it was important enough to talk about and get into the collective mind. -
With Drew Smith, it was obvious that we shouldn't drive under the influence. With Germain Dawson, it is also obvious that dealing/delivering drugs is dangerous/ I say this without judgement and fully in the spirit of learning from every mistake -- Josh should have been wearing a seat belt. His life would likely have been spared. I am disappointed that not once have I read how he wasn't wearing his seatbelt and how important it is and how this could have been prevented. I have a couple of friends who don't put on their seatbelt if they aren't driving over 35 miles an hour and/or going further than 5 miles from their home. Plain stupid. It is beyond ignorant -- it is selfish. I will be incredibly mad at my friends if they die in a car accident by being thrown from the vehicle. It takes 1 second to pull the belt over your lap, but takes years to get over losing a loved one. I hope that all 104 remaining players on this team learn the lesson about seat belts. Also, I hope that we can get over the negative stigma of donating organs. Young healthy adults who die in a hospital should absolutely be proud to donate their organs to save others. It is the the ultimate way to honor the life lost, to save another person. It is so rare to have a healthy person die (and you must be in the hospital to donate) and in a position to donate. Buckle up, it really is the difference between life and death.

Yeh, he was out there talking to the crowd before the game because he loves us and is interesting in how we feel. I have never had a more on sided conversation in my life. Ever. Instead, he saddles up to us and tries to sell us a $36k family plan on the club level (and a pizza). He isn't out there talking to me, he is out there selling me. I don't have any problem with that at all. Just don't pee on my leg and tell me it is rain. I wish RV could raise some money outside of our parking lot and the dorms -- you know, like it he was advertised in his 2000 hring press release.

Rumored a broken foot. Likely know more Monday on the Dodge show.

BOOM! Roasted! Wait. You were talking to me? I didn't get that the first five times reading the text.

Nearly all of us here have this sickness. Like real junkies, it takes as little as 2 wins a year to keep us hooked. We will be there at Fouts too. Sunday -- Avoid all football except when the Cowboys are on. Monday -- hang my head a bit. Watch some NFL. Tuesday -- Feel a little better. Read the board. Go on the record for thinking we will lose this week. Wednesday -- Feel back to normal. Read the board. Start to convince myself it will be a close game. Thursday -- Can't wait for Saturday. Starting to feel a bit optimistic. Watch the Thur NCAA game and think UNT can play that well (like a real D1 team). Friday -- Avoid football. Make plans to travel to Fouts. Saturday -- Sh!t, I still do this?

Thanks for playing the fake realist card. The real realist card is that tonight was the first time you have seen him score a TD all year.

When the team is 1-3, overcoming the death of a teammate, and already losing the game? I think in that very rare situation, it would be pretty damn common. You wanted them to pop the champagne and do the fish celebration? Or do they act like they have been there before, saddle up and go do it again? OOOOOOHHHH! You want an excessive organized celebration. Maybe they should have called a timeout to chastize the players for not rallying around the player that just scored. That is what a leader would have done.

You are being a clown. You either need to drink more, so you pass out and stop typing. Or you need to have a drink and chill the fack out. You are all over the place. Waste a timeout to yell at a player? Pull out your only goto DB for a play -- when we have recent history of giving up the quick big play scores? Blaming the son for the father's poor performance? Riley led this team tonight. Led them to a comeback and played his ass off.. he had some bone headed moves (illegal foward pass), but he was great tonight. Ran the ball. Took big hits without fumbling. Made plays with his legs. Avoided sacks and threw for first downs on the run. He handed off the ball on the zone read to (your favorite) Dunbar more often than not. What the hell do you want? He gives this team the best chance to win. A 4th string freshman does NOT. Look, this sucks for everyone involved and no one is happy with the outcome. I drove nearly 8 hours today with a pregnant wife to come see this game in person. I JUST got home and I am more calm than you. And all you did was waste $30 on PPV.

I agree. That is bananas.
-
They did play OU extremely well.
-
That 4th down last play of the game was ... whoa... close. It was right on target, but the WR just dropped it. It is an interesting look to see Hamilton at the QB spot.
-
Awesome. Way to get a moral victory for one half and get blown out on national TV. SMU has made it.

10 years ago, UNT was not in good football shape. That is just flat wrong. They weren't in any position to handle expansion. You didn't get banned because you spoke the "truth." Above is a great reason you got banned. You throw out highly charged opinions based on lies or very loose "facts." You constantly belly ache about the same topic, regardless of what the thread is about -- and you troll people into arguments about that same damn topic. For some peace and quiet, the admins showed you the door. Here you are, a year or so later, stil harping on the same exact topic and dragging people into your net.

Do I Really Want To Watch..or Not ?
SteaminWillieBeamin replied to greeneagle69's topic in Mean Green Football
fausports.tv doesn't list any live events. It looks like a front for CBS College Sports and they don't list the game on Saturday either. The Mean Green premium doesn't have it.. Looks like we are blacked out. My apologies to John Wiley Price for my language.
