Remind me: Darden==PRO Let's see if you claim him and are proud of him. Have your liked any Guyton threads? I don't know.. but he quit on North Texas. Let's erase him.

*Updated* Kevin Sumlin: Deal (Steal) of the Century
SteaminWillieBeamin replied to Pseudo Nym's topic in Mean Green Football
I am shocked that Dan Mac was only 58 when he came here. It was portrayed at how OLD he was... and how much experience he had. He seemed 70. Also shocked that Dickey was only 39 - with that bald head and dad jokes. He seemed 60. -

CFL is really tight lipped about their salaries, but the team salary cap is <6M for a 56 man roster. Minimum salary is $65k. Looks like salary is not guaranteed for the season unless they are a veteran of certain years... and only if they are on the roster X amount of games first. -
I am not claiming to be an expert here - but 21 hours ago you started this thread calling it "sad" and it turns out it was shooting from the hip. However, 22 hours ago were the tweets (also in this thread) that confirm it was an agreement. The information was already out there in the football ether... If anything the game broadcasters were on the 'get off my lawn' side of this argument with their indignation that he wasn't going full bore on the Cheez-It bowl. Then it took twitter to bring it back to reality - which is what *we* were commenting on here in this thread. Twitter is damn near real time and sports reporters are always filling in the gaps during games. FWIW. When I was a tiny boy, I never took Madden's words as pure fact. I didn't really think the level of back sweat on the player indicated their value to the team.

You literally started this topic by calling it 'sad.' If that is not an enlightened judgement, then the moon must be made of cheese.

If a surgical resident making $50k a year wanted to not operate in their last case as a resident because they risked an accidental needle prick on an HIV positive person .... because they accepted an offer of $450k a year that started in a month? Yeh. I am not going to judge. There are other interns and residents that need to get their skills behind them.

Now we will have some summer football to watch. I hope he can make a play for some real time. -
Like our very own 'quitter' Darden, huh? Nice to see the generational divide on how they view one of the very best we've had. Right?
-
I truly don't get this - aside from some baseline assumptions that a certain type of person is more likely a 'quitter' or lazy. Players at all levels have play counts, game minutes, quarters, etc - that they track. This player was to play the first half (likely X naps) to help his team get the win. Then it was the turn of a senior who rarely played, walk-on or a freshman to get their bowl game opportunity. If the coaches agreed to that plan (they did), then the judgement on this guy's character is ridiculous.

*Updated* Kevin Sumlin: Deal (Steal) of the Century

I am on a slow row ... SJW is a term used for the liberal snowflake. You know that. So I am just bringing it back to just decency and not political social justice seeking. I know we are on the same side 😉 -

I don't think students taking a stand against rape culture as "SJW". It's taking a stand for decency and trying to impact where their money is going and how their school is perceived nationally. -
Poor Liberty.

I just tuned in and watched him get hit on the backside of his helmet and he seemed to get knocked out.. he recovered and then we're checking him on the sideline. I turned it off again because he doesn't need my bad luck watching.

Which Rival is the Most Important?
SteaminWillieBeamin replied to sportprof101's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm just going from gut feeling here, but I really enjoyed the yearly trips around LA,NM and OK. We tended to play OU, UT, TT and Baylor more.. so we just (maybe in retrospect rose tinted) were me to regional and approachable. W still played LA Tech too. Even the occasional MTSU trip was fun. I have no on interest in Florida trip or wherever ODU or whatever random schools they throw in.. Rice is nice. I don't have any interest in UTSA or UTEP. Just never really had caught on with me. CUSA makes me feel more isolated as a fan. I thought we'd get Tulsa and Tulane, instead we got some east coast teams that have no regional or national interest. -
Bean had one turnover and an otherwise decent game against a real defense. He played through injury and kept just coming back. You guys just want to be mad for the be sake of being mad. He had plenty of balls dropped.. no one is going to say he threw perfectly, but he has some zip in the ball when needed and hit it deep in stride... There's no need to personally insult the guy. It's over the line.

I don't feel like we've had a natural rival since the Sunbelt. -
No - but if you throw out 'facts' for your opinion, it should at least be accurate.
-
You are not even close to being correct. <100 people in the USA die due to auto collisions per day ~3500 are dying from COVID per day. I am not sure of your math skills, but I think you can extrapolate it out.
