  1. I've never seen a crew need to conference about every call. Dreadful.
  2. SMU and La Tech are the worst I've experienced.
  3. Ruder had a decent stat line. He had some ducks.. some off targets.. but if you manage to put up 366 yards, there should be more points on the board. I feel it's all on the coach at this point. Ruder can get the job done, needs some experience and some coaching... He's got the poise. He just doesn't have the coach. Aune has been in this system and hasn't risen to the occasion when he has had the opportunity. He hasn't had the coach either.. it's a hard situation with no obvious correct answer. But if I were just a commentator from the outside, I'd think Ruder played well enough to keep his job and he has room for improvement that is within reach.
  4. Shovel pass? I think shovel. Much like him and lateral, or hook and ladder. Which. Is. It?
  5. Agree. Let the one run full first team. Aune didn't shine out there against the scrubs. They both have some accuracy issues that need worked out. I really wished we had a more clear direction with the QB, but we don't. If Torrey is out awhile, we are screwed. The next two in line aren't showing much yet.
  6. But what is Mean Green? A wave is 🌊.
  7. Right right. I got your point when i read it, but it's not a valid argument in my opinion. You need to be honest with yourself - no one was referring to NTSU/UNT/Texas Normal/whatever as anything. No one has ever said, Joe Greene played for the Eagles. Why? Because there are 100 Eagle mascots. When someone says Eagles, you think anyone, even in Dallas thought of UNT? They likely thought of BC and Flutie.. we aren't confusing people with a nickname switch 20 some years ago. Schools switch mascots, nicknames, colors... It happens. It's not unique. It's a crutch. But you are correct, i didn't read the whole thread. Some of that is rehashing.. my apologies. I've never been confused. When people see my north texas shirt, tell go mean green, throw up a talon hand and give the be sarcastic "caaaaw" .. they aren't confused. They get there's an eagle, with a crow sound, but called mean green.
  8. Totally forgot about that monstrosity! The Sunbelt was filled with some insanity.
  9. Doesn't change that there's a mismatch in mascot and nickname... And people refer to them exclusively by their nickname. Also, interesting facts, they used to be Cardinals originally.. changed to Cardinal. "Stanford Cardinal, adopted in 1981, formerly known as the "Indians" (1930–1972) and the plural "Cardinals" (1972–1981)" And! Iowa State used to be the Cardinals.
  10. Tulane. Green Wave, Pelican Stanford. Cardinal, Tree Alabama. Crimson Tide, Elephant Akron. Zips, Kangaroo. Army. Black Knights, Mule Dartmouth. Big Green, Keg WKU. Hill Toppers, dog penis. ULaLa. Ragin' Cajuns, Cayenne pepper 🌶️ MTSU. Blue Raiders, Nathan Bedford Forrest's horse. I'm sure there are more, but that's off the top of my head. It's not *that* uncommon.
  11. Metaphor: a thing regarded as representative or symbolic of something else, especially something abstract. Do you think that is was really about a cannon? A physical cannon? That is once it was "gotten" that it was over? Or is the cannon a metaphor for the whole conflict? How about that flag flying in neighbors driveway? You think he's literally upset about Mexico and that black cannon? Or maybe it's a metaphor for some abstract concept of freedom, fight for freedom and independence? Obviously I get and know that said cannon existed. It represented something larger. A metaphor, if you will.
  12. Imagine the world if we didn't try to be more enlightened than our predecessors. Terrifying. Bunch of ethical luddites.
  13. One might argue that the reason for the Texas Revolution is controversial. In recent decades, there is an effort to correct the "Texas Mythes" associated with becoming a Republic, reasons for not (but ultimately) joining the Confederacy, and the role that Mexicans played in our history. https://www.texasmonthly.com/being-texan/slavery-integral-texas-transition-from-republic-to-statehood-textbook-doesnt-tell-full-story/ https://crossculturalsolidarity.com/how-slavery-led-to-the-texas-revolution/ https://www.texasobserver.org/juneteenth-and-the-myth-of-texas-fight-for-independence/ So the whole "Come and Take it" - can really be, you know, talking about a slave (instead whatever cannon metaphor it is about). There is certainly more to the phrase than a simple "red rover, red rover" child's game. I can see why it isn't something that is used as a rallying cry at a college sports outing.
  14. It's even weaker that they openly say they copied it from OK State and thought they should have a bigger flag. It isn't a tradition.
  15. I mean, our favorite backup bench qb Kason is right there on the 37 yard line coaching it up with a #4 .. that's the leadership we need from a backup. No, nothing ? Not falling for the double standard? Ok. I tried. 🤣
  16. But truly folks, i don't care. I just saw this screencap from the telecast and thought that some people may be up in arms about the qb2 being 50 yards away from the team. 😎 I don't. I think Aune is great and would be a good QB to have in there. Happy he's at UNT and chose us and we chose him. Just like prior QBs.
  17. If only someone were watching the actions of the backup QB to fill their narrative, right?
  18. But are we going to talk about sideline behavior of the backup QB? Seems like this site cares about that a lot 🤣
  19. I am concerned about the drop off at RB too. Aside from a long runs for a TD, the two young guys were tackled at the line of scrimmage or for 2 yards. I expected something different from the fall camp reports. Agreed that Ruder was behind on those two exact routes. He didn't have any safety over the top, so he could have led the wr instead of trying to be so precise. Those deep passes, Ruder didn't look anywhere else, it looked like a set pass regardless of coverage.. i thought the wrs pulled up too early and ended up having to reach behind/above because they were them looking at the QB. I'm happy football is back! Georgia is hit with covid positives.. 4 starters? UAB may get lucky in timing.
  20. I posted a pew study earlier. Showed that 10-12% on each extreme side of the party was not trusting of vaccines (pre-covid. Though by large margin the right side was opposed to mandate. Personally, I've only known right wing people to be antivax, through school, hospital or friends of friends. My assumptions were only for my life.. didn't fit what the pew study showed. Same goes for the assumptions that liberals are the antivaxers. Which then led to be question about modern antivax movement..
  21. You can watch it on replay on espn3.
  22. Kids are more obese now.
  23. Yeh - that's true. But if we give the same acceptance to us, we only were in the is red zone twice, I think. We only scored on big plays too. We didn't have much in the way of a consistent offense. It was a strange game.
