Thanks for the educated clarification. The issue is that it really makes no difference if coaches read it or not. It's the effect of negative comments. Thanks for the additional input about the players reading this board, and the effect that "sowing the seeds of doubt" could have on the team. Winning is about attitude. Go Mean Green!

Some of the posts on this board amaze me. I haven't counted, but there seem to be more negative posts than positive ones. Yeah, I know, 0-5, Mendoza can't coach, the defense is terrible, Meager attacks, etc, etc. Do you think the coaches actually read this site and the comments make a difference? They don't, but I'll tell you who does, future recruits and their families. I think all will agree UNT needs more talent. Venting frustration is fine, but let's be constructive. Posts about firing coaches and personal attacks on players this early in the new regime will not help UNT get where they need to go. There are still seats left on the train! Go Mean Green!

Slow, can't tackle, and simply don't have enough talent. Complain as you wish, but this defense won't get better until the talent improves. Offensively, too many turnovers, too many penalties and UNT was lucky to score on a fumble for a touchdown and a tipped pass for a TD. Vizza played well, for a freshman. The kid has to learn and now's a good time to play him. Just try to keep getting better every day............ keep the proper attitude...............things will improve! Go Mean Green!

Here's A Controversial Topic For This Board
GreenSquared replied to the real grad88's topic in Mean Green Football
Oh? Arkansas has one of the best running games in the nation and..............how are they doing again? -
Yes, it is a crazy thought. TD will play the QB that gives the team the best chance at winning. Concerning any controversy, if Riley were the second coming of Johnny Unitas there would still be issues surrounding "playing the coach's son". It just comes with the territory. My bet is Riley redshirts, but what do I know?

PlumMeanGreen - I really enjoy your posts and respect your long time loyalty. It is obvious you understand the game and bleed mean green! I'm relatively new to the board and did not attend UNT. I'm a Mean Green fan for three reasons; one I love college football and it's simply too far to go see my alma mater as much as I would like (although you would be correct to guess that is where my first loyalty resides), second, I'm a huge fan of TD's and would love to see him build a winning program (metroplex's team) in Denton, and finally, I have a son that attends UNT, so I quess you could say my family is somewhat affiliated (at leat that's where the money goes). I truely believe in the slogan "you are either with us, or against us" and trying times like these are when everyone needs to stick together. I'm sure that's what the Mean Green team feels at this time and also what the majority who post on this site believe. I also believe that the fans will turn out at the next home game, that these coaches know how to win, and good times are coming. Yeah, the green kool aid is a little sour now, but oh how sweet it will soon be. Keep the faith! I know you will continue to set that example!

The Real Reason We Are Getting Drilled
GreenSquared replied to the real grad88's topic in Mean Green Football
Back to the post subject. I was at the game and totally agree. UNT simply was "out-athleted". Size, speed and skill at every position were in Arkansas favor. Losing to them is nothing to be ashamed of, but rebuilding starts with discipline and then add athletes. One thing all should be proud of, the team is not lying down. The effort was evident throughout the game! Go Mean Green! -
Trim some time off his 4.4? Most would do anything for that type speed! That's smokin fast!

Texas Stranger, a great post. I was wondering when someone would come to the defense of DM. It's hard to throw when you running for your life, and the penalties in the second half killed us. It's also hard to throw long, running toward the sideline with a d-linemen holding your jersey. It's also easy to get happy feet when your under constant pressure. The QB always get's too much credit for wins and too much blame for losses. If you really have to blame someone, blame the kicking game, you simply cannot give up easy 14 points and expect to win. We'll fix all the above issues.

I don't think only the hardcore fans will be back. What a great atmosphere before the game! We didn't win, but it's hard to be disappointed. As I said on another post, the mistakes that caused us to lose are correctable. Stay positive, there's a lot more fun to come. This is a work on progress!

Out coached? I would say "out executed". Two blocked punts? Some nice drives (even in the second half) but they ended with mistakes. You must have been watching a different game than I did. The defense played extremely well, especially given where FAU started some of their drives. The reason we lost this game is pretty simple, special teams breakdowns, turnovers and some untimely penaties that put the offense behind schedule as far as moving the chains in the second half. On the bright side, these things can be corrected. To win, it takes all three units doing their jobs. Finally, FAU had some good athletes, I thought their QB had a rocket of an arm and their defense was extremely athletic. If I was disapponted in anything, it was the crowd. Not enough students, need more noise when the other team has the ball, lots left early (even before the game was out of reach), and pretty quiet the second half. It's a work in process though, let's all keep practicing! We'll get better. See you at Arkansas? Go Mean Dreen!

Go Mean Green! Beat FAU!

Better-half and I will be there. I watched what TD did in SL and can't wait to see what happens in Denton. The guy is simply a tremendous leader! Go Mean Green! "Get on the train early and enjoy the entire ride!" "Be positive!"

I'll admit it. I drink the SLC kool-aid. However, I've seen the three QB's before RD and he's is as good as any of them. BTW one starts at Mizzou and one is the back-up at Alabama. This kid is the real deal with tremendous heart and talent. As with the others, he makes his teammates better and I sure that is leadership training received from TD. Will he start at UNT? Lot's of things happen during an athlete's career, but you can be sure of one thing, TD will start the QB that gives the team the best chance to win, and that doesn't necessarily mean the best QB. UNT count your blessings instead of slamming your recruits. (You know who you are). BTW, being positive about your team is also one thing fans will learn from TD and, it's contagious! Concerning SLC winning the state championship, they have some big shoes to fill, but they stand on the shoulders of giants. Granted the championship streak has to end some time, but counting them out this early is crazy. They just played heads-up with a super team from Miami and had 5 turnovers and a bad punt snap. As mentioned earlier, they are seldom perceived as the most talented team on the field, but somehow they succeed. Go Mean Green Go Dragons

Mean Green Vs. Arkansas Options...
GreenSquared replied to ParksAndRecRick's topic in Mean Green Football
ArkSTfan, I am a UCA Bear and would never wear a hog hat (not sure why my son went there) and it's all I can do to wear a Hog shirt with my Mean Green hat to the game. On the bright side, at least he didn't go to school in Jonesboro! Go Mean Green! -
Looks like we weren't the only ones who wanted these recruits!

Defensive Schemed Lauged At By Ou Coaches?
GreenSquared replied to Green Crazy's topic in Mean Green Football
There simply is not much new in terms of schemes that coaches don't know about, even in high school. Now talent, that's a different story. OU would have won Saturday even if they had never thrown a pass, ran the wishbone or the wing T.
