  1. Incredible efficiency and capacity to focus
  2. Former player asked about using a zone and the coach said: "I told him, 'Son, what is it with you. Is it ignorance or apathy?' He said, 'Coach, I don't know and I don't care.'" UTA used 4 different zones on Texas in two possessions – they used 12 different zones during the entire game and still lost. When you have two evenly talented teams executing a good game plan will help keep you in the game - we did not execute much tonight but were lucky enough to win. We still have a lot to learn but it looks like we are slowly getting there – can’t wait until Dec. 18th
  3. Thanks for the update Mr. Campbell - See you at the game. Go Mean Green - 150 yards rushing for LD and 5 - 7 record. We are headed in the right direction. Ray ban Dan is our mean green man.
  4. Well let’s break it down – this is the 8th straight loss to Texas – they are just very talented at every position. Before the game announcers indicated that the top 8 NT players had 3 assists and that UT’s freshman guard Kamonga through first 4 games has 32 assists – which indicates that all our shots are coming off of on ball screens – players still tend to stand around on offense. 19 turnovers – I think that is about our average so far this season. We did look better because UT did not full court press. We still have a ways to go but this looked like an improvement overall in effort and rebounding. Can’t believe Plum did that – so unlike him.
  5. Yes - it will be a long game - No turnarounds here - final score: Bulldogs -95 - UNT -70.
  6. Things that might work - back to the basics: "When losing, the best way to catch up, is to attack the paint, and take those 'Playoff Fouls'." "I used to be a boys (aged 8 - 11) basketball team assistant coach." "When up against a superior team, I would only have them shoot 'Pull-Up Jumpers' from the free throw line." "The opposing defense collapses on the shooter, 'Back Door' on them EVERYTIME." "DEFENSE: Half Court Press; Box - and - 1." "REBOUNDS: Two would have to 'Box Out' their tallest and strongest rebounder, instead of one." "BALL HANDLING: Pass around the 'Four Corners'." "GAME FILM: Only helps for practice. Please, check out the 1996 N.C.A.A. Mens Basketball Post Season Tournament First Round game of, U.C.L.A. versus PRINCETON." "When my boys basketball Summer League team went up against the Full Court Press, they ran 'THE WEAVE'."
  7. You don't play against opponents, you play against the game of basketball. ~Bobby Knight Basketball is like photography, if you don't focus, all you have is the negative.
  8. We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors. If Johnny knew what to say he would call a time out - Not prepared by coach - players deer in headlights. Missi. State will score 120 points on us. I am not going to Austin either
  9. Here is what most sport magazines are reporting as 2011 -2012 Predicted Basketball Conference Champions ACC – North Carolina American East – Boston University Atlantic 10 – Xavier Atlantic Sun – Belmont Big 12 – Baylor Big East – Connecticut Big Sky – Weber State Big south – UNC Asheville Big Ten – Ohio State Big West – Long Beach State Colonial – George Mason Conference USA – Memphis Horizon – Butler Ivy League – Harvard MAAC – Iona MAC – Kent State MEAC – Hampton Missouri Valley – Creighton Mountain West – UNLV Northeast – Long Island OVC – Austin Peay Pac 12 – UCLA Patriot – Bucknell SEC – Kentucky Southern – Davidson Southland – UT–Arlington Summit – Oral Roberts Sun Belt – Florida Atlantic SWAC – Texas Southern WAC – Utah State WCC - Gonzaga
  10. Coach Gillespie is a first year coach and he has it figured out with 12 new players - How long will it take our coach to figure it out?
  11. Well the Tech – UNT game is thankfully over. Quick game summary – Players at one point in second half were shooting 12% (Deer in Headlights – totally intimidated) – 1 of 16 from 3 point range - for the game shooting percentage some was in the 33% range – Chris Jones only player that showed up tonight – no one else could hit their a_ _ with a base fiddle. No one was using the bank when they were in the paint. Only time we pressed was in last 3:00 minutes of the game – No zone defense at all – not sure we know what a 2-3 zone is – in last 19 seconds we let the clock run down 12 sec. before we called a time out – did not foul immediately. Final summary – out coached, out played, players totally intimidated - Only one player showed up tonight.
  12. A Pottawtomie with a brain!
  13. That’s what you get when you schedule all of the weak sisters of the poor just to get a 20 win season – if you start scheduling top 50 teams the attendance will go thorough the roof – we have been averaging 3500 attendance for 40 years – Lets take the program to the top – what’s the problem if you got a great coach and a great team????
  14. You are right about the RPI – if you don’t win your conference then the only other thing the NCAA looks at for tournament selection is your record against top 50 teams – last year our record against top 50 teams was 0-1. We need to schedule at least 7 or 8 top 50 teams per year to be in the selection mix if we don’t win our conference – I feel they will play us if we would try to schedule - I mean what do they have to fear – we have never won a first round NCAA tournament game – and lose regularly to top 50 teams.
  15. Thank you - only post that was right
  16. I think that would be a great idea - it would pick up local interest in all the programs- they could rotate the tournament every year from school to school
  17. It is always good to hear stories about kids turning their lives around - Great story
  18. Very Interesting - the RESILIENT SHOCKPAD is very cool - it is nice to know that we will have the most up to date field in the USA.
  19. Try the North End Row 3 - better look at the score board - there will be plenty of people to talk to no matter where you sit.
  20. I am not sure why UNT needs too update it’s image every 5 or so years . I know of no other University in the State of Texas that does that. In 2005 UNT spent 149,638.00 to change it’s image – so here we go again – new colors – new logos for the stadium – we could end up purple and white and known as the UNT lizards. How many hundreds of thousand of Dollars will this new image take to implement – no one knows.
  21. It was these Asst. Coaches that made it possible for us to get to the NIT when they were last here - Tina Stinker had little to do with that rise. This was finally a good selection by RV - they will turn the program around ASAP.
  22. Well - I am not sure that I can remember any top 50 teams in the last five years that came to the Super Pit that we won against - Can you give me a name of a team that was in the top 50 when we played them that we won the game?
  23. Like to see local good players get a chance - they are just as good as the ones that have been mentioned - lets see who is picked by the staff and see how skills match up - my guess is that who ever we sign they will not have averaged more than 10 points per game and 8 rebounds.
  24. OK - Your Crazy - Our school colors do not include Black - but I am sure the coaches will come up with something that looks really mean green.
