And another thing we forgot about was that Kedrick Hogans left his knee brace on the team bus and could not play because it could not be brought back to the gym in time for the game – add his 10 to 12 points into the game and you have a win.
-
Interesting points about Tony – I can not figure out why we keep taking 3 point shots at the buzzer when the game is tied – would it not be better to have the ball in the hands of our best player of all time in the low post trying to take a lay-up and getting fouled – shooting the 3 pointer to end a tie game just does not add up.
-
Well there is plenty of love to go around for this one – 27 turnovers- sloppy play from all players and a poor coaching job – I think that pretty much covers the water front for this disaster.
-
FAU – 21-11, 13-3 last year – Mike Jarvis’ Owls are picked to defend their league regular-season crown with four returning starters. FAU has the leagues best backcourt, featuring two Player of the Year candidates in Juniors Raymond Taylor, a 5’6” water bug of a point guard and Greg Gantt. Senior Shaver Richardson completes the guard trio, each of whom should eclipse 1,000 career points sometime this season. Yet another guard, senior Alex Tucker, will likely become the school’s all-time assist leader during the season. If there was any time for Forest Robinson to catch fire and burn the nets – this would be the game – it would be great to see a Forest Fire at FAU – the inside out combo of Tony and Forest could be a game winner. This could be a knock down drag out kind of game but I still feel this is a winnable game for UNT.

Mean Green Texan most of the mean green posters have dreams so they can have dreams come true – for those paranoid pontificators like yourself – they are dreamless. By now you are looking to eat some humble pie – I wanted to help you out so I called Hals Humble Pie Store in Krum and ordered you a number 2 on the menu – the #2 is a cow pie with the hoof print of a horse in the middle of it, its called the real thing– I also thought you might want an appetizer so I added the stuffed horse radish – its number one on the appetizer list and is called kick in the butt – so I ordered you two kicks in the butt and one real thing – your order number is UNT-68 FIU - 61 Hope your crystal ball clears up soon
-
FIU – 11-19, 5-11 last year, look to be playing together as a team now – they increased their win total from 7 to 11 last year. Their athletic guard DeJuan Wright is the teams top scorer and rebounder. Point guard Phil Taylor and forward Dominique Ferguson played only half a season a year ago because of academics but should contribute for the whole season this year. We will have to play well but this is a winnable game.
-
Lets see Joe Green – not highly recruited – only about 6-1, 195 his freshman year – then grew a little and turned out be a pretty good player I think our coach knows what he is doing and that you all are full of hot air and other such stuff.

MT Out rebounded – shot 50% from the field and held NT scoreless for 9 minutes in the first half NT shot 40% from the field and missed several 6 footers, 2 footers and point blank put backs MT will most likely buzz through the rest of the conference and pick up the number one seed You guys will have to put the lipstick on this one

It's Time: Lower the NCAA Shot Clock to 24 Seconds
Roadruner replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I agree and disagree, 30 secs maybe but not 24 to me. Maybe a gradual transition. College ball is unlike NBA ball and I think the game would suffer. The talent to work in a 24 second environment would be restricted to fast thinkers and quick shooters. The lumbering guards (and there are some good ones) would have a hard time adjusting and it could make for some ugly basketball. I always felt in college quite often 30/35 seconds is like 24 secs of NBA ball. Some teams aren't built for speed, and the contrast is what makes college bball so unique. -
Heres what MT is saying: • With MT’s 71-66 win over FIU on Dec. 29, head coach Kermit Davis surpassed Jimmy Earle as MT’s all-time winningest coach. It marked Davis’ 165th MT victory, eclipsing Earle’s mark of 164. • MT’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are both undefeated in conference play, joining Kentucky as the only two programs in the nation to boast the accomplishment. • MT’s 20-2 start was the best in program history, topping the previous mark of 18-2 in the 1974-75 season. • MT is 9-0 to start league play for the first time in 37 years. The mark matches the best league start in pro- gram history, set in the 1974-75 season when the Blue Raiders were a member of the OVC. • MT’s 12-game winning streak from Dec. 10 through Jan. 26 was the longest in 26 years and is tied for the third-longest in school history. • MT has won 16 games by a double-figure margin, including eight of the last nine contests. • As of the NCAA statistics on Jan. 29, MT ranks seventh in the nation in field goal percentage (49.5). MT also ranks 15th in field goal percentage defense (38.4). The Blue Raiders ranked in the top three in field goal percentage for six consecutive weeks to open the season. • MT is one of only eight teams in the nation to crack the 20-win mark already this season, currently tied for the third-most victories in the nation. • MT’s eight road wins this season are tied for the third-most in the country as of Jan. 29. The Blue Raiders also lead the Sun Belt with 44 league road victories in the past 10 years. • MT set a school-record with a 71.4 shooting percentage at UCLA on Nov. 15. The Blue Raiders shot 70.8 percent in the first half and 72 percent in the second half of the contest. Should be a Great Game!

Thanks Rick for the post - it nice to know that we have a great coach like Coach McCarney to lead us and the university to new heights. He has just had a great recruiting class for 2012 and should be taking us to a Bowl Bid in December.

5 Reasons To Sign A Letter of Intent With North Texas
Roadruner replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Plum – you are seeing very clearly now – Coach Mac, that Mean Green Man will take us to that Promised Land – he has a cool head and a keen eye. Here is a quote from big John - “Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. It comes to us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.” Coach Mac and his staff have had a lot of yesterdays in coaching and will make this a bright tomorrow with this great recruiting class regardless of what any .com rating source says. Come to the recruiting meeting early so you can see the new wind turbines in the daylight. -

Dutton Watson DE Prospect from Midland
Roadruner replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Watson finished the season with 48 tackles and a team-high 18 tackles for loss and six sacks. Impressive numbers for a player most teams schemed around. -
Last year Middle Tennessee was 16-16, 10-6 – Coach Kermit Davis who with his 12th win this season has become the programs all time winningest coach and consistently has kept the Blue Raiders in the upper half of the league. This team is his deepest yet with an influx of signees and transfers over the last two years. Junior J.T. Sulton has emerged as a go-to guy offensively, junior swingman Jason Jones is the top returnee in scoring and assists. Center LaRon Dendy, an Iowa State transfer, provides some great post play. This game will be a true test of our overall ability – Don’t miss this one.

I agree - this was a great game to watch and the post play was the best of the year. Got a great team - you bet your Aston we do
-
Congratulation Coach Aston on your career 99th win and your 13th at UNT - You have your team running wide open without any fear - Keep up the great work - The Banner needs a Buddy – I know you can bring it home

Heard he was thinking about changing the schools colors to purple and white and wanted to talk to our marketing staff Overheard him at the restaurant as he asked the manager if he knew a good proctologist because the one he had in Austin could palm a basketball. Also heard him talking on his cell about a 2020 contract extension Sounds like he had a great day

SMU Board focusing attention on UNT recruits
Roadruner replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Recently while taking a deep dive, digging in to the past four years worth of data on prospect decommitments and transfers for a piece titled "The Commitment Project." The report includes plenty of anecdotal data -- including a conversation with now-Iona guard Lamont "MoMo" Jones, who has to have some sort of modern-day transfer/decommitment record, about the various reasons for his decisions -- but it is mostly interested in the hard numbers. Those hard numbers make a convincing case that players who attend multiple high schools carry that behavior with them during both their recruitment process and after they've signed at a school. From Luke: -- 39.2 percent of top-100 recruits attended multiple high schools -- The multiple-high school trend rose to 47 percent in the Class of 2011, suggesting it could break 50 percent later this decade -- Top-100 players who attended multiple high schools went on to decommit from colleges at nearly twice the rate of their peers -- 24.8 percent of top-100 recruits transfer, a rate that's nearly 2.5 times the D-I average -- Top-100 players who decommit are nearly 50 percent more likely than their peers to transfer once they're in college. But if they never fully commit to a school -- if they're treating college programs like AAU teams to be discarded whenever things don't go their way -- then the entire collegiate experience becomes somewhat trivialized. In other words stuff happens – all the time.
