I'Tiana Taylor is a power forward from Pflugerville High School, and was named MVP of District 16-5A this season and an All-State selection by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Taylor ranks as the 52nd best power forward in the country by Dan Olsen Girls Basketball Report. As a junior in 2010-11, she helped Pflugerville to a 30-7 record and the regional final, averaging 9.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.6 assists per game. Loryn Goodwin is a guard from Cypress Falls High School, which made a run to the 5A State Semifinals before falling to Duncanville. She was named District 17-5A MVP and an All-State selection by the Texas Association of Basketball coaches. Prior to the 2011-12 season at Cy-Falls, she played at Temple High School, where she posted 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.7 steals, and three assists per game in 2010-11. Sounds like we got 2 sold players that come from winning teams – both could be starters next year.

Does JJ need to go to March Madness next season?
Roadruner replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
11 Years–2 appearances in the Big Dance-lost both by 20 points–Time for JJ to Make Changes Hilltopper Head Coach Ray Harper has been on national championship teams at several levels in the NCAA - took over the WKU program at mid season – team at 3-11 and ended by beating every major conference contender the Sunbelt had in the tournament and is now going to the NCAA Big Dance. To go to the next level we need to adopt the WKU Offensive Scheme and Defensive Scheme and Beat them next year with their own stuff – what we are doing now does not seem to be working – lets try something that has beaten the best in our conference. This is what WKU BASKETBALL has done– feel like it is worth copying! 3 NCAA Tournament wins since 2008 - 2008 and 2009 Sun Belt Conference Champions Two NBA Draft picks in last four years (Courtney Lee, 1st round, 2008; Jeremy Evans, 2nd round, 2010) 42 conference championships, third most in NCAA history 40 seasons with 20+ wins, sixth-most in NCAA history 38 All-Americans 34 national post-season appearances 21 NCAA Tournament berths 14th in NCAA history in all-time wins (1,643) 8th in NCAA history in all-time winning percentage (.670) 7 "Sweet 16" appearances in NCAA tournament NCAA Final Four in 1971 -
We should definitely take JJ for granted

Are we against going to other tournaments?
Roadruner replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Basketball
A new off season summer practice facility is huge for both our B-ball programs - spend the money on the new practice facility - listen to what your coaches are saying about it. -
It was our first time at Hot Springs and I felt like it was Mayberry RFD with all the amenities – I played pool with some Arkansas State Fans and won enough to cover about half my expenses – went to the races the next day an lost a little and the next day went to the casino and won a little – can’t complain. Thought the hotels were good and the downtown restaurants were very good. Got to meet a lot of new Mean Green Fans – it was fun talking to all the fans from the other teams. It was nice that the athletic department paid for bussing in some of our students for each of our games – had a good time talking to many of them. When we change conferences - flying into another state and walking in the rough part of town –---- well it will not be Mayberry. We are looking forward to going back to Mayberry next year.

I am not much on grading players as I feel it’s a game-by-game grade but for the overall season I feel our players gave a very good effort every game. I feel they followed the coach’s game plans very closely. As for last night’s game, Tony trailed the whole team on most transitions down the court from offense to defense and WKU took advantage many times by getting the ball down the court fast and getting the easy lay up – then there was the not knowing it was a 1 & 1 free throw and not blocking out for the rebound – then our guard did not dribble but held the ball twice while closely guarded and lost it twice – I feel there were enough mental mistakes to go around to average out a C for the WKU game performance. As far as our team overall for the season, we lost this and other games this year because we have failed to develop a mid-range shooting game from the foul line, the elbow and up to within 4 feet of the basket. I feel Forest and Niko would be our mid-range shooters but they have not been developed as such. Give the WKU coach credit - he has won many national tiles on various levels in the NCAA – they have a mid-range game – his name is Akol – if you recorded the game go back and watch where he shot from and how he moved on offense. I feel we could learn from his style of play and the way their coach moves his players on offense. We also might want to take a look at his defensive scheme - that was a great pack in defense. I feel next year we will be really loaded with talent and if we develop our mid-range shooting game we will have a possible 22 win season and make the NCAA. Hopefully this will be a learning experience for everyone and we will be great next year.

2012 Mean Green Football Schedule
Roadruner replied to MeanGreenWithEnvy's topic in Mean Green Football
From the time we broke ground on the new stadium until now - we have had at least 2 years to make the 2012 schedule a really nice thing for the mean green supporters that contribute the most to help it move up the food chain in the NCAA - I just feel like we have been let down by this 5 home game stuff - it is just like having Fouts Field - don't see how this is moving us forward. Our new coach will have a winning season but someone else and their stadium will get the attendance & money. Ricky, you want to start 'splaining?? -
We will be there Friday - hope the Teams will have it running wide open without any fear come game time. See everyone at Lucky's - GMG

You are seeing very clearly Gmoney – trying proper on court spacing and looking for back door cuts – Does this sound like Georgetown – well if you saw their game against Notre Dame then you saw great offensive spacing and back door cut after back door cut – this is what I see us lacking along with your points about a good distributing guard. Last game against Denver – 15 steals and 20 turnovers – you make a very good point.

Roadruner replied to Coach's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I hope a lot of pro scouts were watching Tony in this game; it would greatly increase the odds of him being back next season. The ULL coach apparently had a perfect game plan for stopping Tony. In the first game, they drove inside and got him in foul trouble. This time they ruffed him up and got him flustered and very ineffective. Tony is so good that he still is a freshman and has a lot to learn. I feel lessons like tonight will be very valuable to him in the future. The ULL coach is very good and it showed tonight. NT obviously has no depth and other than Williams and Mitchell, not a lot of athleticism. Marlin used a lot of players that fouled a lot, unfortunately no one the NT side could hit a free throw. Their Kdeem Colby with 8 blocks, outrageous and nearly all of them were far under the rim. Their players on offense are in almost constant motion, while ours other than a few screen and roll attempts mostly stand and over pass. The odds of NT winning the last two on the road and getting a bye, based on tonight's performance will be almost impossible. -
Agree - it just was not a good night for the mens team -See you at Lucy's

K Sue Earns Her 100th Win As Head Coach

Great Post Rick - Nice to see 100 wins for our Coach! -
Great Post Grand Green – you are seeing very clearly tonight – I feel your future predictions are also very right on – we will be at the tournament but not sure UNT will make it past the second round – guess we will get to see a lot of the local tourist stuff.

IRVING, Texas/COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference and Conference USA have unanimously come to an agreement in principle to consolidate their member football programs into one large association. Commissioners of the two leagues formulated this creative and innovative plan with the support of the presidents, chancellors and athletics directors. The 12 members of Conference USA and 10 football-playing members of the Mountain West will join forces for this strategic landmark in college football. "The role of a conference is to provide its members with the best possible environment in which to conduct their intercollegiate athletics programs," said Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson. "Rather than await changes in membership due to realignment, it became clear the best way to serve our institutions was to pursue an original concept. The Mountain West and C-USA share a number of similarities, and the creative merger of our football assets firmly positions our respective members for the future." "The potential of this association is very exciting," Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky said. "By taking an innovative approach, we feel we can offer tremendous opportunities for exposure and stability without breaking up the regional rivalries that truly make up the college football tradition." UNLV President and Mountain West Board of Directors Chair Neal Smatresk said, "In an era of uncertainty in intercollegiate athletics, this collaborative partnership with C-USA lends stability and credibility to our collective football enterprise. We are excited about the prospect of having teams in five time zones and the many possibilities created by this extremely bold and proactive step." Conference USA Board of Directors Chair and Tulane president Scott Cowen said, "We are very pleased to be moving forward with the Mountain West Conference on this high potential, unique partnership. Together, we will better position our conferences and member universities for the future with its appeal and its reach across the United States." The current 22 members are located in 16 different states, offering a prospective 16-hour window for competition. Conference USA has existing television partnerships with Fox Sports and CBS Sports, as well as ESPN for its championship game. The Mountain West has partnerships with CBS Sports and Comcast/NBC Universal. The two conferences will merge into a separate football-only entity without affecting their status within the NCAA structure.

"IF"...We Don't Get In This Go Around How Will You...
Roadruner replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't know Plum - I hear that we need to have a mens baseball team and that a baseball team is maybe two, three years out - also heard that we need to have another sport for the girls and that bowling is now being considered. I think this will happen but maybe down the road a bit. I don't think anyone wants to keep us out now, but as one poster said we need to show some consistency and growth in our programs. -
You know maybe you are right – the Super Pit is soon to be 40 years old and we are still averaging 3,500 fans per game - just about the same number that we averaged in the old snake pit – in the last 11 years we have never won an NCAA playoff game - winning 20 games per year against powder puff schedules is not doing it – May be we should renovate the old men’s gym so we can have a full house
