Scott Davis, Rex Johnson, Lance White, Cody Spencer, Brad Kassle Kim Phillips, Craig Jones. But none is more needed right now than someone who can dominate and make a large difference in a game like The Booger! I pray that Issac Thomas can fill that role now. It's his time! Rick

I miss Drew. Strange you posted this as I was thinking of the same thing this morning about 2:45 a.m. while working out on east Loop 820 in FW, just north of Sun Valley Dr. Watch tonights 10 oclock news or read the paper in the morning and you'll see what I'm talking about. Sickening! I don't know what it's going to take to educate folks, I just don't know what it's going to take? Rick

LOL! Beat me to it. I'm with SUMG, I'd take N.O. over playing in FW 100 times. Rick

Absolutely correct! And ADLER pointed it out the most, the fault lies in the effort coming out of North Texas. There has been too many examples for the fault to lie somewhere else. Suggestion: I would guess that it would be an interesting expereience for someone curious enough to find out truly what's up by simply picking up the phone and calling the person in charge for collegiate licensing at App State and just ask them the process they have gone through. I would point out their success that I've noticed lately. Most people in that position are more than happy to discuss how they have tried to separate themselves from the rest. I did this with TCU two springs ago to find out if they actually have one, and if so what supposed "IMPOSSIBILITIES" they go through to have a season ticket drive during THEIR spring game. I got an earfull from the person I spoke with...AND an invite to come see for myself. Rick

LOL! That's great Brett! Rick

Rolling Out The Green Carpet At Fouts Field
FirefightnRick replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
If there is less crown then people in the front rows really won't be able to see what's occuring at the center of the field since the view of the action will be even lower below the players standing on the side lines. Still, I can't see them taking out a crown due to the need of run off. I'm with Cerebus, there won't be much of a change, sightline wise. Rick -
Yuk!, they could do much better than that(Does that come with tassels?) Also, I'm thinking they goofed on the color, at least I hope so. Notice the color listed for the hat: Forest Green? At least we can be thankful Zephyr has agreed to continue to do business with NT considering how much we have screwed them over the years. I wonder what they will do with all of this dust collecting material? Rick

hmmmmmm, no scrimmage now on Saturday the 20th, the day of the GMG.com barbecue? Rick

Ah! Pollock, sweet fastback dude. Light metalic Blue, very nice. By the way, if I remember correctly Evan also has a classic Stang and I believe his is Orange? That's three of us here on the board, I wonder how many others? It would be cool to see how many alumni have classic autos. It would be cool to get a shot of a nice collection of them in front of the admin builiding by the Eagle statue. Rick

I voted for the Talons-Out Eagle as well. Something similar to the version above would be great but since we will have "Mean Green" in one endzone already it would have to be left off, which is no problem. I say since we gave the Daffy 10 years at the center of the field then the new T.O. Eagle deserves it's chance too. Rick

Well, fortunately for me and a wise $500 investment with my summer lawnmowing earnings back in 1981 I don't have to dream about a real car...I still own one. Here's a couple more shots of my 1966 Mustang. Click here. Click here It's hard to believe this member of the ORIGINAL PONY CAR has never been to Denton since I have owned it? Truth is I'm almost afraid to cruise it up because it would probably intentionally die on me out of spite since I spend all my play money supporting the Mean Green instead of all the many upgrades I have originally planned for it. Amazingly this car is 95% original stock, still has some great launch power and drives like a dream down the highway. But as I said before, I would like to upgrade many things such as build the 2V 289 into a K Code version like the GT 350 had in it, add front disc brakes, upgrade the original A/C to a lighter, aftermarket aluminum job and re-restore the interior(seats, carpet and headliner). This is huge for us. Of our 5 starters on O line, 4 of them have over 50 games under their belts while blocking the way for two separate national rushing champions the past two years. Rick

Meager will start, Warren will backup. That's my guess. Rick

Looks like it's past the 50 now, just to the left of my seats. And there still seems to be a bit of a crown, just not as much. Rick

GOMEANGREEN.COM BBQ event for the 20th
FirefightnRick replied to SilverEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm in for $50, plus I owe for my Joe Greene jersey. Rick -
I think you would be interested to see the June Issue of Road and Track where they compare U.S. Muscle vs Europe and Japan muscle. Ford GT 40(Talk about bang for the buck $124K for the Ford vs $189K for the Farrari) vs Farrari F35?, Ford Mustang GT vs Nissan's 350Z, Chevy's C6 Vett vs Aston Martin. Very interesting numbers and very impressive for the U.S. Rick

GOMEANGREEN.COM BBQ event for the 20th
FirefightnRick replied to SilverEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
The 2005 GoMeanGreen.com & Greenbackers Mean Green Kickoff BBQ is Saturday, August 20th. This is our chance to let our players and coaches know how much we appreciate their efforts. It will be approximately around 11:30 al.m. after that morning's scrimmage. The BBQ will take place at the Athletic Center, however the scrimmage may be in one of three places. Either at Fouts if the turf is complete, at the Denton High Complex or at the Athletic Center practice fields. We are planning on serving around 200 people for this. Please list again what you can bring below so that we can keep track of who is bringing what? We have the meat supplier lined up and the preparation for it. I'll also bring the pickles and onions etc... Stebo is bringing the meat warmers and now states he has the placticware(plates, forks etc and napkins) covered. Steve, VeryGreen had volunteered to bring this but I'll let them know it's taken care of and see if they can bring something else. I know y'all have posted this twice before. Hope and others(I apologize I cannot remember everyone who stepped up for this) have offered to bring desert. Please repost that here if you can. We still need: Baked Beans(P.M. on what kind your bringing as I have some ideas for this). Tea and Water(P.M on this also, I have a tea server I think we can use). Potato Salad(P.M. me on this as well) Any other deserts you can offer to bring. BBQ Sauce(KC Masterpiece is a favorite) Bread for sandwiches etc... Servers/General help to set up and cut brisket. I have recieved a lot of offers in this area but it will help us better if you sign up below so that we will know who is willing to do what I think that is all? Any other ideas please let us know and please post below what you want to do. Rick -
Lots of eyes will be on MTSU-North Texas showdown
FirefightnRick replied to pUNT's topic in Mean Green Football
I'll be there but I doubt DJ will be. I'm still trying to find a flight to Nashville because I know I'll be driving down for the LSU game. I hate the thought of having to drive to both. As for our effort in early games, if we play as good as we did in our second game of the season against Colorado and NOT fumble on the 3 yard line early, we kick the hell out of the MUTS. Rick -
Showed some good clips of SPJMo running through Colorado. Rick

More like "Daaaaamn, what a great throw downfield where no one has a chance for it but #81!". The black bands keep your hands drier. Rick

Three of our hogs have been working for a friend of mine during their summer job. They have been working as movers and the company owns several large commercial moving trucks. Usually a team of three to four men travel in the moving truck, riding up front in the cab to and from the residences. But when these three particular guys show up together for a move job only one can fit in the cab with the driver while the others have to follow behind in their own car. Evidently the regular movers have stated that it's quite a sight to see them all try to cram into one vehicle. I can only imagine. Rick

Even though I'm glad that Voertman's took my advice 4 years ago and started to sell them, and now the bookstore has followed, that's still way too high. If enough people were to want one, say 10 to 20, I can probably still get them for less than $25. I think that is what we sold them for? I'm thinking about ordering myself a new 6x10 for the road so let me know. Rick

The kids can't vote or they would have done the right thing. Worst part is, hey suffer the most even though it's not their fault. Therefore as the original title to this thread still stands: This Sux, especially for the football team. Rick
