What a FANTASTIC 1st half for the HornedFrogs!
FirefightnRick replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
and as I type, Gunn goes down with less than 2 minutes to go in the half. Crap! Rick -
What an incredible first half for the frogs. OU has benched their starting QB and brought in Bomar, Peterson has 8 rushes for something crazy like 15 or so yards. TCU came out swinging for the homerun on offense, mixing it up getting positive yards and their Defense is hitting OU as hard as you could ask. Best defense I've seen TCU play in 6 years so far. This may be Tye Gunn's year he has always asked for. TCU's O line is protecting him, giving him a lot of time to find recievers downfield. Just an incredible effort so far. I love seeing the little guys stepping up and taking it to the big dogs. You gotta love it. Rick

Latest update from N.O. per Ft Worth Tx Task Force

We just got a call from one of our guys' wives. She said there is only one spot they can get to where they can get a cell phone line out so she only talks to him once per day. Said they are sleeping on the floors, eating MRE's. Said it's 100 times worse than what is seen on TV. The cop that took the direct hit in the head was down directly in front of where they were located. Yesterday they were assigned to help search the 9th Ward. Everyone everywhere is hostile towards any government assistance so their time spent in each place is always shorter than needed. He said he had no idea what he was getting into and is very worried. They have no idea when they are going to be evacuated to come home. When activated the Texas USAR teams are usually in the field for minimum of two weeks. Rick -

Davis would have helped the Canes the most from the bench last night. He couldn't hold onto the ball. Rick

There isn't many options at all if you fear for your life everytime you drive to work? I would be more than happy to elaborate with some color photos if you would like? Rick

Louisiana-Monroe Embarrasing the Belt

They had nearly 20,000 for attendance according to the Delphi Indian board. Brings back our FAU game last year for me. From the way it sounds they had better keep the sharp objects locked up for a while over there. Yuk! Rick -
Tulsa's QB went out in the first half with a concussion. Their second stringer looks better than their first. They play the spread offense and it seems to be built around getting Davis the ball. He's their speed guy that had all the special team TDs in the past. But he doesn't seem to be able to catch the ball tonight or hold onto it. Their d line looks soft.......against Minnesota that is. They will spread the ball around a lot on us. We will have had three weeks to prepare for their style of offense by Sept 17th. To Tulsa's credit, they have speed and they gained 155 yards of offense in the third quarter and the Gophers have not outright routed them just yet. It's 27-10 with 11:44 to go. A very respectable showing for the Golden Hurricanes, that is, the Hurricanes which are 480 miles from the nearest beach Rick

...to become 1-0 for the first time in 9 seasons and only the third time the past 11. The Middle couldn't ask for a better chance to ambush the Mean Green. I know many think us losing the LSU game helps, maybe it does but I'm not convinced? It's scary not to know what we are going to have next week. We lose a lot of game experience by many players who will be starting for their first time. A cherry QB, center and deep snapper on offense. Only one DB with any kind of experience facing a spread offense, a completely new defensive line and now this week we lost one of those guys too? Nah, we got them right where we want em! Go Mean Green! One and 'O with Nine to go! Rick

Yes, but with a new coach. Their old coach who beat TCU(same day we lost to Tech at Texas Stadium in '01) is now the coach at Arkansas St. I swear that NWsLa team has some football mojo. We couldn't hardly beat them in the SLC(4-6) including losing 4 straight during some of our more exciting years in the late 80's. Rick -
For Mean Green fans headed to Murfreesboro
FirefightnRick replied to KAjunRaider's topic in Mean Green Football
That would be 638 miles to be exact.....each way! Rick -
I'm not sure about doubling attendance, but I would think most Mean Green fans should get excited about the new stadium and actually getting to be a part of the game experience for the first time, instead of having to watch it from what appears to look like watching a movie at the drive in from behind the projection house Rick
-
Not me, the game isn't until next week. Silly me? Rick

Just know that I don't drive a large vehicle simply because I don't care. I drive a large vehicle so that I have a better shot at survival when some OTHER fireman comes along to dig me out after some drunk or a know-it-all-teenager or some other asshole driving too damn fast loses control and crosses over into my side of the freeway. Hell, the way people are driving right now you wouldn't think there is a crisis at all? Rick

I don't have a problem with them making a profit, but how much profit? And every once in a while? How about every day. And if I'm to believe what they are reporting on the news this evening then the oil companies are making a 95% profit per barrel of oil right now and this will continue. Rick

One of our FF's just bought a diesel VW bug two weeks ago. Too small for me on U.S. highways of course but they do offer it. As I always say, you can't put a price on safety even though I know the oil industry is getting fatter by the day and I'll pay the higher prices and still drive a full size gas guzzlin truck. Hell I'd drive a military halftrack back and forth to work if I could get it registered and licensed. Here's a thought. Instead of planning on more congested highways and putting in a toll road as the great minds of the future Parker County Transit Authority is discussing doing, how about we get with the rest of the free world start looking at light rail for our daily commute? I know the Denton County TA is looking at this. In fact all of the City of Denton's large equipment trucks are using Bio Diesel now as an alternate fuel. At least those running Denton County have some kind of ability to think ahead. Rick
-
Truly, the only way to solve the problem is to find a substitute and become less dependant of fossil fuels. Of course we know the auto and oil industry isn't going allow that, at least not until we have to of course. Rick

Just saw this on the Titan's yahoo website about Cody Spencer: Aug 30 TitansOnline.com reports Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said LB Cody Spencer (abdominal strain) underwent tests on his abdominal strain Tuesday, Aug. 30. The results were not immediately known, and Spencer's status for the preseason finale remains undetermined. Rick

I forgot to post the email. Here it is. One cousin of mine say's it's a spoof? Not sure it would work anyways but I'm not buying gas tomorrow just in case. That, and the fact I'm home tomorrow. IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES. AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES. THEREFORE SEPTEMBER 1st HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THESE TWO NATIONS SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT. WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO? REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 1ST A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

So is "God's gift to Sooner Football", Rocky Calmus hurt again or is he just behind Brad on the depth chart? To think how many so called big time programs didn't want Brad on their teams? I love it, Rick
