  1. No TE should ever sign here while we run this offense, and I feel for any player who did, or does. Rick
  2. Problem is, our leadership continues to sign people to five year contracts. What I hope to see, just once in my life before going to the grave is to see a coach be signed to a 3 year contract and have to EARN their fourth & fifth year. Just once. That tired, lame-ass excuse that “No one worth their salt would come for less” is bullshit. They certainly will for what we’re paying. They certainly will! Rick
  3. STILL APPLICABLE! Rick
  4. I never thought I would ever witness a worse short-yardage offense than Dodge or Lattrell’s versions, but here we are. Rick
  5. Better beat ECU tomorrow because Temple doesn’t look like a pushover against UT’SAck. Rick
  6. Exactly. Rick
  7. LOL, that Boise St team went 10-3 that season ending in a win in the Human Bowl. They won 10 games the next year and 8 the next. I’d say you have some extreme parameters on what “special” is. Rick
  8. Not a “little” run, we went 5-1 in conference, winning the final 5 games straight, which was the start to his 25 straight conference game winning streak. Not sure how you can dismiss a year in which we won a conference championship? And that Troy game was a late make up due to 9-11. We shouldn’t have had to play it. That Troy team, coming off an 11-2 season the year before was playing an independent schedule and finished 7-4 and beat Mississippi State that year. They beat us on a last second FG that ticked off one of our players fingers. Rick
  9. He beat Boise State, Texas Tech and Baylor and had some respectable losses against the top teams in the country, also. I’d take that type of loser right now. Rick
  10. What would Dickey’s ‘01-‘04 teams had done in CUSA and the American? Strictly defense-wise I’d say they would have won at least a couple of championships. To me that’s the take away of my earlier points. Rick
  11. I know you know that but others don’t and to me it’s unfair saying so without highlighting the why’s. Comparing overall records to some coaches who were FORCED to face meat grinder seasons to other coaches who didn’t needs pointing out. Dickey’ noncon was insane and the highlight of that insanity was during two seasons between 2000 and 2004 where he faced at 11-2 Oklahoma the year after Oklahoma won the National Championship, then faced an 11-1 Texas team in 2004 the year before Texas would win the National Championship in ‘05. And many P5’s in between. These weren't just barely ranked 25th Army’s. These were dominant, best college football programs in the world and at times we hung with them. That kind of effort by our programs need learning by our younger folks, imo. Rick
  12. Two things that standout in the stat lines to me. Time Of Possession: sa had the ball nearly 20 minutes longer than we did. And, 3rd Down Conversion: sa converted 10 of 18 3rd downs. We only converted 2 of 11. Thats devastating to an already struggling defense, time and effort wise. Then you compound wasting that effort by pissing away the easy points afforded you by gambling on 4th downs inside the 30. Maybe our FG kicker has the shanks or something? But to me changing D coordinators isn’t going to fix all of our problems because right now we have no idea how to manage a 60 minute football game, which is Classic Air Raid. Rick
  13. Comparing overall records of past coaches can be misleading. Compare Dickey’s non conference opponents to those non conference opponents of any coach since and It’s not even in the same universe. Yet from ‘01’ to 04’ he found a niche that worked in conference play. And he did it in possibly the most decrepit facility in FBS to recruit to for fractional pay compared to what the last three coaches have enjoyed. Rick
  14. Thank goodness nutSack can’t catch. Rick
  15. Looks like a green line on TV. Rick
  16. Hey now,…we’re 3rd nationally. Don’t you feel it? Rick
  17. Good to see someone at least still knows how to use a Tightend. Rick
  18. Damn good early road win. Way to grind on the road Mean Green! Rick
  19. We were on Bad Beats tonight. Looks like we really got screwed on that play on the goal line in the 2nd qtr? Rick
  20. “If you couldn’t stop the run in previous years, (and you do nothing but change D coordinator, it’s personnel, it’s Jim’s and Joes not X’s and O’s). You’re too light in the britches. Your built to play with the lead and when you can’t get the lead people run the ball down your throat”. -Shannon Sharp, Nov 11, 2024 Rick
  21. The same way a bunch clowns on our selection committee chose a high school coach with no major college experience over Paul Johnson. Rick
  22. Probably amped up a bit too much I suppose. But who can blame them? They had had a REALLY GOOD previous 4 days. Rick
  23. I’ll guess I’ll never understand it? On the 4th and goal from the 2. There was 12:56 left in the 2nd quarter, down 7-3. At that point you surely realize you’re facing the 28th ranked pass defense, the 3rd ranked run defense, the 1st ranked scoring defense that’s only giving up 11.25 ppg, and the 5th ranked defense overall that just stuffed you three times inside the 5. Your not going to get many chances in this game. Your just not because they can run the ball and sustain drives and play keep-away as they’ve done for years. How do you NOT kick there and reward your defense for a solid effort thus far by pulling within 1 point? All I can take away from this game is, unlike in ‘07 at least we didn’t freeze our own kicker, twice….and then lose? Rick
  24. “IF YOU CAN’T RUN THE BALL AND STOP THE RUN, ….THAT’S A RECIPE FOR AN ASS WHOOPIN!” - Shannon Sharp, Oct 28th, 2024. Rick
