  1. Nice one. I just saw the new NUTS mascot on CoachToddDodge.com :
  2. Univ. of North Texas - "The Titanic" (we all know how that one ended, don't we)
  3. Here at MT, better known as MTSU here by the Vol-infested Nashville media, we have been contemplating a name change to UMT for quite some time. There has been quite a resistance from local universities and ut-k, and from some of our fans that want to keep our 4-letter acronym. When did you folks make the change and why? And how has this benefitted your University? And is there any documentation available on the net to give reasons for taking the word "state" out of your name. Thanx in advance! I want to report this info back to our message board. MT's Scout Message Board
  4. It's called recruiting and fund-raising. No reason why we shouldn't do it. A better MT is a better Belt. I would hope you would do the same. Nothing wrong with rewarding our players for their efforts. It must be the "right" thing to do for us if it pisses off so many UNT and Troy State fans.
  5. And that's probably a good thing.......for the conference, that is. Keeps it interesting for everyone. Sure did get boring for us in Murfreesboro when you were kicking our tails for all of those years Blue Raider Zone Scout Forums
  6. And I can guaran-damn-tee you that Memphis did not average 32k butts in seats during their pathetic football year. My bro graduated from there, and says the attendance for football was paltry, unless they play the Vawls, when half the stadium is orange.
  7. The UAB attendance figures are bogus. They are lucky to get 10K butts in seats. We played them in B'ham a few years ago, and had just as many fans as they did, and we were just starting in D-1. I find it very, very hard to believe that they averaged that much, unless they hosted an SEC team and filled up Legion Field. Isn't the upper level on Legion condemned and off-limits?
  8. Lest everyone forgets, haven't I seen numerous threads and posts on this board of UNT wanting to get out of the SBC and into C-USA? This article is not our fans talking, but a Nashville guy tryiing to stir the pot. I have never, ever seen him at ANY MT function. He is a Tennessee Vol fan of the big ernge. He once sat on top of a billboard for a month until the tennessee team won a game (they started the season 0-5 or similar back in the 80's, I believe). MT fans know we have a ways to go, but.........if either UNT or MT were offered to Coosa today, we would both be there tomorrow and not letting the door hit our collective arses on the way out of our current affilations. 9. The writer is a "guest" writer, and is a local Nashville sports-talk radio guy from up north, that knows nothing of MT and the Sun Belt. Surprised by this article as well. We would like to move to the C-USA (and with some of our SBC brethren like UNT, UL, etc) but it's not gonna happen, yet. We must get better on the gridiron and in men's hoops. I think there may be a chance in 5 years or so, but what will C-USA look like then? The SBC may very well be the better option by that time. The SBC is closing in.......and closing in fast. 10. And I thought MeanGreen fans said MT fans were arseholes. We do have our share, I must admit, but you haven't seen arseholes until you've dealt with Troy State fans. They are the worst in the Belt, IMO.
  11. Wow! I'm gonna try and make a couple of softball games later on in the week. Sad to say, but I've never been to a game at our softball stadium. Blue Raider Zone-- Lady Eagles beat Lady Cajuns
  12. Livestats froze up on me, but according to the Cajun website, ya'll won. Congrats! First ever loss by the Lady Cajuns in the SBC Softball Tourney.
  13. Here is the link to the livestats-- http://www.sunbeltsports.org/sharedLiveSta...p;SPORT_ID=1820 it's in the bottom of the last inning-- Lady Green up 6-3, pitching change-- bases loaded no outs-- Lady Cajuns batting
  14. FFRick, I own one of the open air boxes, and ya'll are welcome any time to come join us for a while (next time UNT comes to the 'Boro). I think hands down, atmosphere-wise, that the Cajuns are the best. Troy has an absolutely huge press box, and a helluva nice jumbotron, but I hear their pressbox facilities are plain Jane-- they don't even have phone lines connected to have lockerroom interviews. I was also disppointed with their big donor parking lot-- which is a mud lot. Other than that, I think Troy has the nicest. Interested to see what FIU and WKU will have in the coming years. One perk at ULM, if you can get up there, is their club level inside the press box. It is very nice, with stadium seating (no seats assigned to any one person so you can sit anywhere). The game is pumped in via speakers, and all the free beer, mixed drinks, and food that you want. You just have to tip the bartenders. FAU's stadium is a rathole, but some nice scenery-- their cheerleaders!
  15. Sorry about that. Thought it was brand new material. Nevertheless, hope to meet a bunch of you "nuts" this fall as I make my inaugural trip to Denton. Have plenty of brisket ready! I'll bring the moonshine

  17. But you guys always did so well (in the first 4 years) with your defensive pressure and strong running game. But, I do agree that a balanced attack is the best option. I am a firm believer that offense can win games, but defense wins championships.
  18. Damn skippy. Make it at the house now, because the BBQ joints here don't know how to make it--- or they chop it all up (I like mine sliced, of course). Your folks brought a large pull behind smoker grille on wheels last time in Murfreesboro and shared their vittle with us. Glad that Southwest finally decided to let Nashville folks into Dallas.
  19. Well, this Blue Raider fan thinks MT and the rest of the SBC should be very wary. We made a similar hire with our women's hoops coach, and look what he's done. I know comparing football to women's hoops is apples to bananas, but I think Dodge was a helluva gutsy hire, and a good one at that. Hoping to make my first ever trip to Denton in the fall and meet up with some of the UNT fans I have met over the years-- FFRick, Emmett (sp?), SoundMan, and the guy who had the RV at the SBC Basketball Tourney in Lafayette this year. Anyone know who that gentleman was? Would also like to meet MG61-- does the old codger ever make it to Denton? I am hoping to eat my weight in Texas beef brisket (which is very hard to come by here in TN, even Memphis).
  20. They slobberknocked us early in the year, but I believe you guys have the athletes to hang. How ironic is it that you guys are playing in N'Awlins?? At any rate, best of luck, and we on the BlueRaiderZone will be watching. I may even wear some green in your honor. I am certainly "green" with envy. We have not made the Big Dance since 1989. This hoops board sure is clicking on all cylinders! Blue Raider Zone, #1 MT Message Board
  21. We really enjoyed tailgating before and after the games with the fine gentleman and his family that brought the RV from Denton. We made his wife eat crawfish, and she was a pro (I think her bro' once lived in New Orleans). He says he will take care of us when we come to Denton for football this year, and we will return the favor in the future. At any rate, great win over us-- I was there-- and best of luck in the Big Dance. You have done us proud!! BlueRaiderZone.com Message Board Link-- Click Here
  22. We had many a poster, including one particular moderator, who poo-pooed and bitched and moaned about hiring HS coach Rick Insell to lead our Lady Raider Hoops Team. Well, we all know what happened after that. That poster has shut his piehole, now. Rick has led us almost to the Top 25. Insell was not just "a" high school coach, he was "the" high school coach. This is what you got with Dodge. Congrats on the hire, and we wish you the best of luck. Power UP to the SBC! http://www.BlueRaiderZone.com
  23. The funny thing is, it is not that much further from Murfreesboro to Denton, than it is from Denton to El Paso (maybe one hour more). MapQuest says 71 more miles.
  24. The BlueRaiderZone nation wishes Darryl Dickey a very speedy recovery. Sad to hear of this news, but he is one of the "lucky ones". My father had a heart attack at the age of 45, and he has changed his eating habits for the better and quit smoking on the spot.
