Unt's Dodge Pushes For New Stadium In 2010
KAjunRaider replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
A sponsor would be great (we are still looking for one), but are you guys going to get a sponsor who will donate the amount of money it takes to get a stadium in motion? One or Two million ain't gonna do it. Maybe if ya'll could get that, then it would get the ball rolling on subsequent donations. At any rate, much luck to you. Thank God for student fees at MT, or we'd be in trouble. We just raised them again by $25 per semester, and get an additional $1 million+ per year. -

Best move at Middle Tennessee we ever made was getting rid of our old AD. He was a great football coach, but not AD. Chris Massaro has really put a spark back into our program. His hire may be the most important ever made at our U (athletics-wise). He is big on getting on sports talk radio, and getting out in the community. I don't think the guy ever sleeps. He is very down to earth and friendly. But I hear he can "make a grown man cry" inside the athletics building. He accepts nothing but 100% by everyone, or you are gone. He has cleaned house, and gotten rid of many of the "good 'ole boy" hires of years past. Lastly....our new AD at MT has brought a breath of fresh air to Murfreesboro, and now we feel the sky is the limit. Before, we were just "Liddle Middle" and stuck in mediocrity. Just my opinion. -
La Tech Coach Puts Foot In Mouth Again...
KAjunRaider replied to Baby Arm!'s topic in Mean Green Football
http://www.idahostatesman.com/sports/story/115036.html Quote of the day Dooley heard complaints in Ruston, La., that Louisiana Tech's offense was to blame for its inability to reach a bowl game since 2001. Dooley, however, quickly noticed that the Bulldogs' defense was ranked the worst in the nation, which made him wonder about his new neighbors. "Is everybody dyslexic in Ruston?" he thought. -

Is there really an "autumn" in Texas anyways? Summer and Winter only ? I bet it's damn hot in Denton in July -
Surprised that you NT fans enjoyed that blog. He really poopoos the Sun Belt. If the blogger had picked Middle Tennessee first I would still have thought the guy was an a$$ clown.

FIU--- Puhlease. That should be a felony -
http://www.dnj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A...334/1006/SPORTS Extracted from article: Some program's media relations directors nominate players, while others have more input from the coaches. Louisiana-Monroe, which closed the season strong and returns a wealth of talent, nominated 14 players. On face value that would suggest that the Warhawks should roll right through the Sun Belt. Perhaps they will, but 14 all-conference players? Arkansas State, which lost its entire secondary, nominated 13 players. Guess the Red Wolves will be among the league's elite as well. Troy also nominated 13 players, including four offensive linemen. No way will all four make it, and in fact, by putting them all out there, it might cost a player preseason accolades. The voters aren't going to name all four to the team, and in fact, the votes will probably get split. Florida Atlantic nominated 13, which seems to be about right considering the Owls are the defending champions and return more starters — all all-league players — than any team in the league. Florida International, which won one game a year ago, nominated 11 players, including four defensive backs. C'mon! Louisiana-Lafayette submitted nine players. The Ragin' Cajuns always have talent, but they haven't translated it into enough wins of late. North Texas nominated six players, the fewest of any team in the league. The Mean Green, like MTSU, seem to have a better grasp of things. Middle Tennessee, meanwhile, nominated seven, and quite frankly, only Desmond Gee — a two-time all-league pick — is likely to get any preseason love

Ulm Ad Says "no" To Scheduling La. Tech In Any Sport
KAjunRaider replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
If the entire SBC boycotts LaTech, they will be in a world of hurt. Didn't Tech's baseball coach come from the Cajun program? I don't see them dissolving that series. I wonder if it'll get ugly enough for the Louisiana State Legislature to step in? I've heard a couple of "inside" stories about Dooley. He seems to not be very professional...... at all. -
Please disregard RaiderInTheZone. He is a former UCF fan, that got the SBC forum shut down by himself. He has had multiple, multiple aliases and been blacklisted from many a board, always coming back with a new alias. Take what he says with a grain of salt. I could say more, but will not.

Florida Atlantic A Possible Bcs Buster ?
KAjunRaider replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Bring some more of the major conference teams to SBC stadiums, and you'll see a lot more "upsets". Hard to win when you are continuously going on the road and getting jobbed. Slowly but surely the SBC is getting "names" to come to their stadiums. -
Florida Atlantic A Possible Bcs Buster ?
KAjunRaider replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
It is high time the SBC "shocked the world". It is time. ULM gave us a "taste" last year. They could have been the media darling with an SBC crown. It is also time that MT beat a "name". We had UVa on the ropes last year, but a very bad spot cost us the game. If we would have thrown the red flag, I believe wholehearted that the call gets overturned and we run out the clock. We have beaten Vandy 3 times, but they are lowly Vandy. Maryland visits Murfreesboro this year. Time to beat a "big boy". The Terps are no BAMA, but it'd be a signature win for us. -
Good stuff. MT's best newcomer should be Antwaun Boyd, who came in last year but did not get cleared by the "slow as molasses" NCAA Clearing House. He would have started for us last year. Here's Antwaun's bio: http://www.goblueraiders.com/player.cfm/na...un-boyd/id/2710.

I have been to both campuses many times, and LaTech has nothing on ULM, except for tradition. Ruston is a real dump. Good luck finding a place to eat in that town. We'll see how that head football coach/Director of Athletics thing goes for Dooley. He is out of town as soon as another offer comes (his daddy'll get him an AD job somewhere). When is the last time Tech has built a new athletics facility? Is grass still growing on their tennis courts? Love that huge tarp covering empty football seats. Denton and Murfreesboro are far ahead of Ruston, and if a conference change looms, market and "upside" is what higher profile conferences will be looking at. Ruston Tech is on a downward spiral. Cannot get much worse than it has been there the last couple of years, so they are bound to show some improvement. However, travel expenses for their women's volleyball team to Hawaii, etc, will keep sucking them dry. Let them rot in the WAC. Coosa ain't a'calling Ruston anytime soon. Terry Bradshow and Karl Malone are looong gone. Ruston does have some fine peaches, though. Let them dream of greener pastures.

You left off Bastrop, La, Hohenwald, TN, and Pine Bluff, AR !
-
Okie got what was coming to them. The contract was NEVER signed, as the OU AD implies. If so, we'd been in for a big buyout--- and we are not. Boo-hoo Sooner. Bring on the State Bulldogs, some of the classiest folks in the SEC.

Tulsa World - Cusa Rumored To Lose Ecu, Memphis
KAjunRaider replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I have heard that IF and WHEN the Big East adds 4 teams (after the split from the hoops schools) that they will be looking at programs who, along with decent football and men's hoops, bring good women's sports and baseball. -
I heard our baseball coach Steve Peterson on a local sports-talk station say that UNT was getting baseball (this was over a year ago). Any progress ?
-
Denver needs to go...... yesterday. I know, I know. They are the snow ski champion. My opinion based on stuff I'm hearing here in the 'Boro -- conference shuffling with Coosa/SBC teams, and UALR, Denver, and UNO to other non-football conferences within 3-5 years.

Sun Belt Included In Gmac Bowl Talks
KAjunRaider replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
How about the new bowl in Boca mentioned in the MAC thread? Wasn't that bantered around our boards a year or two ago? SBC or Coosa/SBC combo could be sittin' pretty in 2 or 3 years. Some of your fans still want the WAC? -
But it seems as if the SBC at 6-6 will always sit home, while other conferences have a shot (if no 7-5 teams available). 2nd SBC Bowl tie-in would allow for a 6-6 team, instead of an Coosa or MAC 6-6 team. We need to be able to offer this to our recruits. A 2nd SBC Bowl tie-in is a "must".
-
Another thing that hurts us, and is rarely mentioned, is the secondary tie-ins to Bowls. We do not even have a "secondary" bowl, in circumstances where a conference with the main tie-in doesn't have an eligible team to place in the particular bowl. No wonder we're perceived as the bottom rung of the ladder in 1-A football.
