Troy Has A Bunch Of Signees That Won't Qualify
KAjunRaider replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Fast forward to the 3:15 mark to hear the infamous Blakeney Quote -
Very, very sorry for your loss, Rick. Glad you were able to spend a lot of time with her recently. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
-
Godspeed to you and your family, Rick. You have been in my thoughts in prayers ever since I heard. In times like these, we all realize how insignificant college athletics are.

WKU already tried to go to the MAC, but the MAC wanted a package deal with WKU/MT (several years back). They wanted both of us, or none. MT is a Southern school, and will go down fighting in the Belt (per our AD). Just Say NO to the MAC.

Sparks: Sun Belt Can't Stay Silent In Expansion
KAjunRaider replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
Sparks just overlooked it. He writes a lot of articles and blog each day, and does a heckuva job for us. He would not slight North Texas. Maybe WKU or Troy State, but not North Texas -
Tech Folks Say Mac Rather Than The Belt If No Cusa
KAjunRaider replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I used to work with a lot of La Tech grads, and they were no "smarter" or better workers than the ULM grads. It was amazing to me that some of these grads even had a tough time, in written memos, of spelling simple words correctly. You would not believe some of the embarrassing mistakes I had to correct. I'm not so sure the High Schools there are up to par, and it carries over to college, whether it be ULM or Tech, or elsewhere. -
Any see the ESPN program on Ricky Williams? Watched it last night and Patrick Cobbs was interviewed. Apologies if this has already been posted.

North Texas(10-1 in last 11), MT (11-2 in last 13), WKU (6 in a row), and Troy 8-1 in last 9) are all pretty hot coming into Hot Springs.

Our guy Kermit needs both wins in SoFlo to possibly keep his job. I'm not real confident about Saturday's game considering how we played tonight.

90 feet of heat ! A tribute to my favorite Norte Tejas amigo.

YeeHaw ! MT is the Beast of the East-- for a few hours, anyhow

Any Advice For The New Orleans Bowl ?
KAjunRaider replied to KAjunRaider's topic in Mean Green Football
We ate at Luke on Friday evening (best meal we had). I had the redfish courtbouillon and others had their signature shrimp & grits. Finished it off with the bread pudding. Excellent, excellent N'Awlins French Bread. Ate at Deanie's Saturday for lunch. Had the charbroiled oysters for appetizer and gumbo for entree. Another had the crawfish etoufee. We did the MT alumni dinner on Saturday night at Gordan Biersch Brewery. FanFest was done up right. Ate lunch at Mother's on Sunday-- Great rec on the Ferdi's Special ! Ate jambalaya at the Dome for dinner. Ate at Cafe' Du Monde on Monday for b'fast. So much stuff surrounding the bowl that we didn't have time to do much else, esp. with an 8th-month old daughter. I did get out on Bourbon Saturday evening and got the wife mad at arriving back at the hotel at 5am Again, thanks for the recommendations !! I got a call from FireFightin' Rick during the game, and he said we should go for it on 4th and one. I said punt. We got the critical first down, and Rick was right ! -
Any Advice For The New Orleans Bowl ?
KAjunRaider replied to KAjunRaider's topic in Mean Green Football
Thanks to all. I have printed these out here a few hours before we leave. I'll be sure to call FireFightin'Rick and rub it in as I'm eating a Roast Beef PoBoy with extra gravy followed up with a white chocolate bread pudding with rum sauce ! -
Any must-sees or must-do's or must-don'ts (especially restaurants to avoid) ? Since you guys have been to the Bowl more than anyone, thought I'd ask those "in the know". Thanks a bunch !

Another Reason To Hate Bcs Conferences
KAjunRaider replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
I've got a feeling (for example) that the Independence Bowl in Shreveport would take an 0-12 South Carolina over an 11-1 Second-Place team in the Sun Belt............. if they could do it I'll loose all faith in the system if Beebe's wishes come true Beebe is the former commish of the Ohio Valley Conference and is a real arsehole -
Dang, Troy Is Looking Good Tonight
KAjunRaider replied to MeanGreen01's topic in Mean Green Football
Nope, Levi performed better than Eli Manning did against us in Oxford. Troy, right now, is every bit as good as Clemson. Bigger, faster, stronger. -
Dang, Troy Is Looking Good Tonight
KAjunRaider replied to MeanGreen01's topic in Mean Green Football
Troy is better than Clemson, hands down. Bigger and faster. They are now gelling, so look out. Levi Brown was their #3 QB last year to start the season. Dasher is a great athlete, but just from the shoulders down. That said, their defensive front dominated our O-Line and Dasher had split seconds to make a decision. Impressed by Levi in how long he would stay in the pocket, releasing the ball as he was being hit. Dasher would have gone down sliding or threw the ball away wildly. FireFightinRick........... told you so (unfortunately) -
+1 Damn good post.

Take them to eat at the Blue Dog or Prejeans'. Everyone that I've taken to these 2 places always wants to go back again next time they are in Acadiana. They have 2 neat historical parks in the city--- Acadian Village and Vermillionville. Also, there is a small lake on campus next to their student union center that has alligators in it-- kids will like that. If you have time I would highly suggest the Tabasco Factory tour (free) in Avery Island (just outside New Iberia). They also have a "Jungle Gardens" that Tabasco owns, across the street (for a small fee) that the kids would probably enjoy.

Does Anyone Know If Eddie Gossage Was At The Game?
KAjunRaider posted a topic in Mean Green Football
Eddie is an MT grad that has hosted our fans on several occasions when we travel to play NT. He has cancer now, and hoping that he is doing OK. Just wondering if he made it to the game. If so, maybe he is winning his battle. The story below says that he is in remission: http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/s...autonb0918.html -
I think Dodge and staff out-coached our staff in the second half. Todd Dodge didn't cause all of those turnovers. Don't turn it over and you win the game.
-
SBC had better watch out in the future. The kid has great things ahead of him. Ya'll fought your tails off in the second half. Five turnovers did you in. We are a "second half" team, supposedly, and you took it to us. The crowd looked pretty good on the webcast.

Looks like that old broken down hound has a "lean green" collar You cannot fool us with that ugly Texas hound.
