Our (MT) baseball coach was on a local drivetime radio show recently, and said he understands that North Texas baseball is a "done deal" per some meeting with conference officials in the past few months. He says that NT will be playing by the 2008 season. Is this correct? Or did I mis-understand?

I rode with a couple of MT fans to Akron 2 years ago. Talk about a long, boring drive. Can you say Rust Belt? They actually had a pretty good tailgate setup, with a BBQ (imagine that) cook-off and they had a big stage with Otis Day & The Knights. But we probably had about as many MT fans tailgating as they did. The stadium is gawd-awful, and we didn't even get to see any GoodYear Blimps, which are housed in hangers right next to the "Rubber Bowl". Synopsis of the drive to Akron from Murfreesboro (about 8 hours): City.....2 hours of corn.....city.......2 more hours of corn.......city..........more freaking corn.....city.......how much corn can one state grow?........Akron, Ohio

I can tell you that nothing makes me more mad than seeing those damn UT-Obknoxiousville tags all over Murfreesboro. I thought I have seen some Texas "TN" plates too. There's plenty of "BAMA" TN plates here in Middle Tennessee. Just say "neaux". Mine looks like this, without the "zeroes". And, yes, this represents the number of times we have beaten UNT on the gridiron.

Good post, NM. I really hated it when ya'll left the conference. Love it in Las Cruces. As for RRick, thank you for the props. I reckon the uglier a person is, the more he gets noticed in photos (hence, KAjunRaider). I really wished I would have made an effort to meet more UNT fans earlier in the SBC thang. Ya'll are class. No other word needed to describe. The first UNT guy I ever met was a rude a-hole, and I let that get to me. Now, I realize that he was the exception to the rule, and that MT has plenty of their own a-hole fans. So don't judge a book by his/her school colors. Win or lose, that is what college athletics is all about. And, remember, what Mean Green fans are going through this season, all the rest of us have been going through for 4 years. I know it's tough, but .......one year......ya'll ain't seen "rough" yet. Until we meet again, RRick, SoundMan, and Emmitt..........best of luck!

Nothing negative? Ouch.......... Well, at least ya'll whupped our sorry arses........again But, once again, nothing negative? You shouldn't lose to the Colts 56-3. We would have, but ya'll should not.

That's why ya'll need baseball. When are you guys getting a team? I would think Texas has a plethora of prep baseball talent, so ya'll would be competitive quickly. Our baseball team gets not a lot, but quite a bit of pub here locally, esp. when we make the NCAA Regionals.

I apologize for our fan on the Rivals board calling you a name. Very immature and uncalled for. You are A-OK in my book. Tough luck tonight------with that defense ya'll still have a shot at winning the SBC. I think the SBC champ will have 2 losses this year.

Vandy is about a 30 or 40 minute drive. I'd say the 10k MT fans is pretty accurate. Could've been 8k. We have a ton of grads in Nashville who are sitting on the fence, and rarely come to our home games. Maybe that'll change one of these days. I hope so. Vandy seats around 41k, I think. Total attendance was 37,300 I think. Vandy announcer said it was a loud as he's ever heard Vandy fans. The stadium was rocking. The last 3 minutes of our game was shown on ESPN2 to a national audience. Great pub for the SBC and MT. Thanks for all of the congratulatory messages. Ya'll ain't half bad. And, good luck on Tuesday in your national game!

I'm an MT fan and we'd give our left arm to have Dickey's record the past several years. I should stay out of it, but ya'll need to realize all the "good" that your head coach has done. Hiring a new coach is not the answer. Yours is just fine. Grass is not always "greener" on the other side.......

Whenever ya'll are ready to kick Dickey to the curb, send him our way. 4 straight SBC titles should give him some leeway, I would think, even with the OOC losses. Hell, ya'll may win it again this season. If we at MT would have had the success that ya'll have had, our coach could go 0-11 and most of us would let him slide.

Intercepted a pass and returned it around 22 yards or so. It is his first ever NFL TD, I think.

Thanks for not punching it in, near the end of the game. Our coach would've scored. You guys have a great coach, and I do NOT want to see any more bad-mouthing of Dickey. He is a class act and a helluva coach. Thanks to the North Texas fans for feeding us. Thought is was supposed to be the home team feeding the visiting fans. Ya'll are class acts, esp. FFRick and crew. Our team and fans are hurting right now. Good luck the rest of the season. I am a North Texas fan from here on out. Be very, very thankful for what you have. I think many of ya'll take it for granted.

To get to our tailgate, just park in the Greenland Drive parking lot. It will cost you $5. If you wanted to, I guess you could park across the street at the bookstore and walk over. We are at the end of the parking lot toward the stadium, next to our new Hall of Fame Building (yellowish brick). You cannot miss it. We will have a www.GoMTBlue.com banner hanging on our tents. Come one, Come All!! I have already sent an invite to FFRick.

Applebee's is very close to campus. If you can get to the road where the football stadium is, Greenland Drive (I'm sure UNT fans get a kick out of that), keep going past the football stadium parking lot (which is on your right). Head one mile or so, and you will come to an intersection with Rutherford Boulevard. Turn right. You will go past fraternity row and will come to a light. Go through the light. Applebee's will be on your left near a Wal-Mart. Zaxby's nearby has MT items as well.

Another great way to get a "taste" of Tennessee is to visit Lynchburg and go on the free tour there of the Jack Daniels Distillery. The tour is probably 2 hours long, very interesting, and free taste tests of unfinished product. Lynchburg is just 45 minutes from Murfreesboro and is a pretty drive. You'll be surprised at how flat Murfreesboro and most of West TN is. If you are going to stay in a hotel in Murfreesboro, I do NOT recommend Church Street. Also, don't forget to take I-440 to I-24. It will save you time (don't have to drive through Nashville and the bad traffic there). But I'm sure ya'll are used to bad traffic being so close to Dallas. How do ya'll collect the money for this? And how many board folk (estimate) usually participate (both financially and labor-wise? We would love to do something similar at MT. I know the Cajuns do this annually too.
