  1. I'll be there! That Centenary team is supposed to be pretty good this year....(wins against SMU & Texas Tech) 6 Wins - 3 Losses in Regular Season. GOOOOOOOO MEAAAAAAN GRREEEEEEEEEEN!
  2. Here is a video I found on Youtube of an upset Okie State Fan as he watches fans rush the court! I also found another video that shows us as we start to pour onto the court! Enjoy! I hope to see each and everyone of you students and alums out at the UTA game on Wednesday! I'll be there with the Pit Crew!!! Put on your GREEN and come out to ARLINGTON!!!
  3. Wow....i like the negative attitude....NOT! ....some students were there as early as 6:30....and at 7:30 there were tons of students, kids & adults....but 8:00 it was packed!!!! LOOK AT THE POSITIVES!!!! This is the 2nd year the pep rallies have been around. There were way more people there than at last year's 1st pep rally v.s. SMU! A HUGE SUCCESS!......free t-shirts, hot dogs, red-bull, NT Dancers, glow sticks, water bottles...every kind of giveaway you could imagine. MISER played......(radio hits & good covers) (i know its not ACDC or INCUBUS)...but the school doesnt have $100,000 to spend on their pep rallies....It took a lot of hard work to fight for a band and not a dj or just a cover band......the students really enjoyed the band...the promo table was sold out....for the first 1.5 hours you could barely see the grass! Todd Dodge came out with seniors/players (jamario thomas, brandon jackson...& 5 others) they all spoke & so did Rick Villareal. There was a step show! NT Dancers & The Band played and the crowd practiced cheers for the game. I would say it was a huge success and definately not a flop. I would like to hear some imput on how to make it better instead of the "it was ok attitude." I plan on seeing a possible record attendance game tomorrow & excited to see what Tailgating will be like in the new location. I also saw a lot of UNT shirts being worn this week and especially on Friday! just my two cents...on clark park....definately an improvement from last year. GO MEAN GREEN! BEAT THE HOOTERS!
  4. NT Daily...0-3????? I guess we count the bye week....wow...and then the messup with calling the team the wrong name. We play the owls this week. haha. must be a newbie.
  5. Here's the link for the video advertising student tailgating...it shows where students will be before the game.
  6. The Student Government Association is making 500 shirts for the UNT vs FAU game this week! We will be handing out shirts all week and at the Friday Night @ Clark Park Pep Rally(that is, if we don't run out during the week ). This is our first home game and we are extremely excited about our "new brand of football," new uniforms, new coach, new record-setting offense...etc The buzz around campus is already positive (even being 0-2) and we want to make it that much better! I think we could possibly have record breaking attendance at this week's game. Everyone is also curious to see how student tailgating will work with it being moved next to the coliseum. I have heard that Greek Life will be out in full force on Saturday in the new area....as well as many other campus organizations!!! I have attached the shirt design (front and back)....It is poking fun at the FAU mascot being the tootsie roll pop owl. "How many kicks does it take...." Check it out!!! Let me know what you think.
  7. The SigEps at UNT are taking a bus down there with 60 guys to cheer on the team! I don't know about the other fraternities...but I will be going down there with my bros. Hope to see everyone there!
  8. I want one!!!! do u accept paypal, cash/credit/visa? lol
  9. Those uniforms are FANTASTIC! I'm in shock out how AMAZING they look! With such a branding problem in the past....I see that this is a uniform that I'm proud for my team to wear......The Green is awesome! I love the white jersey the most!!! Where can I get one?!?!?! I want to wear one to SMU! we will kill them. oh those little ponies. GMG!!!!
  10. AJR2010OX - Happy Easter - He is Risen! (you can razz me about this tomorrow!)
  11. I don't know what all this hate on SMU's stadium is lol. I think it is a GREAT stadium. If you have ever gone to the stadium it is close to the field (not like our stadium and its huge track surrounding the field) It has really classy brick around the stadium and holds up to 30,000 people. I want to hear someone say that Fouts Field is better than this stadium. Our stadium is outdated. I will say that SMU's stadium is definately not in comparison to LSU, OU, or UT's stadium because of the capacity. But it is perfect for the little private school in the heart of dallas. lol We need a stadium we can be proud of! Don't expect a new stadium....lets pack Fouts this season to prove to the administration that we are "worthy" of getting a new one. and yes they do drink wine/chardonnay on the university "boulevard," before games. I know these things my dad and sister are alums.
  12. Dear North Texas Fans, This morning I got to sit on a committee with faculty as a representative of Student Government. RHA, Greek Life, Talons, NTExes, Athletics, Administration were all represented on the committee. This from what I understood was something Dr. Bataille wanted us as a community to put-together (her being from University of North Carolina District - a very prideful school!) The committee decided to hear viewpoints from many people in the UNT community and invited in Rick Villareal, President Bataille, Chuck Fuller, Todd Dodge, Rick McKinney (Fire Fightin' Rick), and Hank Dickenson (Voice of the Mean Green) to speak. The meeting was from 8:45-12 noon on Friday morning. Here are some of the highlights of the meeting and viewpoints that each person expressed: Chuck Fuller - talked about the history of the University and how we should include more history to our unique programs to new students (Jazz Program, Environmental Science...etc) He talked about how traditions and statues should be visible to students on campus. We possibly could acquire 120,000(out of the misc. construction budget) to build statues of traditions or a sidewalk spirit walk. He passed around the three books on the history of north texas. Rick Villareal (Athletics Director) - Talked about how the university needs to make a "personal connection with students," and how we have had a logo problem for over 25 years with the constant changing of branding/uniforms. He stated that "Traditions are only traditions when they are practiced," and he talked about how we need to hook freshman into athletics and the university as freshman. He said that the university and the students should capitalize on the lighting of the tower after football games and that Tradition & Spirit is a major part of the college experience. He stressed wearing green on fridays & encouraging faculty & students to do so. He believes we should stay consistant w/ our traditions. Explained how you can't make traditions, they just happen. Gretchen Bataille (President) - She talked about how we've gone leaps and bounds from 5 years ago with starting tailgating and the mean green village. She encouraged more game day posters to be placed all over the place, even staked in the ground. How we should possibly have a website post board to inform students of our traditions and events. We need to stop printing UNT shirts that are not in the color green. Have more venues for students (events before games...etc) Todd Dodge (my favorite speaker..this guy can speak!) - He talked about how we've had a problem with uniforms and we've changed the helmet 5 times since 1991. He wants to make a helmet that we can be proud of that won't be changed atleast for 10 years. He talked about his high school experiences at southlake and how he saw the community come together after they came up with the slogan "protect the tradition." He also talked about his experience with football at UT and in Port Arthur, Texas. Wants to build the program to make it the Team of the D/FW Metroplex and one that students come to watch the Mean Green play and not the visiting team. He said that one of his top priorities was to have the football team "show grattitude," at the end of the game, by singing the alma mater and thinking fans. He talked about the calliber of new recruits and how they've influenced the players to do better improving the old players attitude and work ethic. He said that there is no excuse for us not to have a top ten national passing record, and to see atleast three receivers have 60-80 receptions in a year with the new offense. He said he wants to be involved with reaching out to students and helping out with recruiting high school players. Fire Fightin Rick - Talked about how tradition meant "to hand something down." Stressed how "you can't hand something down if noone is excepting it."He talked about UNT and how he was proud of being a unt alum and getting involved as an undergraduate. He gave us a challenge as to making a 7 syllable chant for game day. (like Memphis at the NCAA tournament and other schools) He said it was intimidating to hear 15,000 fans screaming a chant in unison....he said it was something that is needed. He talked about how "rich" our tradition is a UNT....how boomer is hand made by the UNT community and not bought like the UT canon (saying that it was "just a big pop gun" lol) Talked about alumni possibly willing to buy a new bell for the game...etc. Hank Dickenson - Talked about athletic attendance and how "you can set the table, but if u don't come to dinner it doesn't matter." He stressed that we should reach out to incoming freshman and inform them of our traditions and how games are fun to go to. That we need to promote games through student word of mouth and through offices that represent the students. (greek life, student government...etc) He said that we need to capitalize on the Navy game and make sure that everyone comes to the game. ...those are only some of the things that were mentioned....I didn't want to write a scroll of information on this post. Just wanted to make sure that the community is aware that the University wants to help out with spirit and get students involved through athletics. Student Government, Orientation Leaders, Talons, Greek Life, all have great plans for this upcoming year in bringing the students together and to get them out to games. respectfully submitted,
  13. Previously stated: "this might offend the astronomy club though because it shows stars sinking, and if stars were sinking on earth that would be a good indicator the world is coming to an end, therefore it is not appropriate." I liked the first shirt and I don't think it was disrespectful, but the second shirt looks good too. It's not like we are saying "Navy sucks! (in bold letters)Btw...News Flash - our ships arent getting sunk in Iraq. I'm from a military family and they thought the first shirt was better and not offensive. It is a football game/rivalry....just my two cents.
  14. My email address is treyconnolly@gmail.com !!! Looking forward to playing in the gmg bowl!!!
  15. lol! I really fell for that one! I could only dream for a new stadium.....
  16. The link is not working for me. It's 9:00pm. It won't load....
  17. Rick- The campus is excited about the basketball team reaching the NCAA tournament. I've seen more enthusiasm over this basketball team than the football team in the last three years. I think the word has spread about UNT basketball on campus in all aspects. From Greek Life all the way to the artsy kids that hang out at Art 6 Coffee House. Even though we had a winning season I think that the enthusiasm will go away if we don't continue to promote our athletic programs and get more students involved with athletics. Right now the hype is huge for basketball after winning the SBC, and the upcoming football season with todd dodge/under armour contract/2007 schedule. We cannot let this falter. I believe that this "hype" will help us get more students out of the dorms and into the stadium/arena in the next year. This year I have tried very hard through student government to promote spirit on campus and re-kindle the electric atmosphere with the UNT Pit Crew (because a lot of seniors graduated and attendance was bad at the beginning of the season). I was just elected as Student Body Vice President for the 2007-2008 school year. One of my main platforms I ran on was "improving the student experience." This meaning a lot of things, but athletics falls under this. Athletics makes students feel a part of the campus!!! We should have more Mean Green signs on Game Day, Better Tailgating, Greek out the game nights, Giveaways...etc....I will be working with Rick Villareal, Paul Batchelder, & Jamie Adams to improve student turnout at games and promoting school pride on campus. We will also be hiring a paid position to promote athletics to the student body (SGA Director of Student Affairs). Next year the pit crew will be bigger than ever! One of our goals is to market the pit crew to the dorms and all campus organizations. Hopefully we will get 2 crazy fans from each organization to come to games. Then we can have a guaranteed 100+ student section at games! We had some amazing times this past year with the trip to New Orleans, the great men's basketball home winning streak, and the hiring of Todd Dodge I believe that you will start to see the student body come together in the Fall and throughout this next year! Proud to be MEAN GREEN!

  19. I love the UNT Inline Hockey Team! They are really good/exciting and if you havent been to a game you should definately go! Some of us Pit Crew guys went to the tournament at hat tricks in denton and got a warning from the refs for starting a "chicken-farmer chant" against Texas A&M. hahaha. good times.
  20. lol.....as soon as that chant started.....I FREAKED OUT!.....i told the people behind us to cut it out....and asked them if they remembered the WKU game...hahaha. It wasn't the Pit Crew and it wasn't Talons! Its ashame that school wasn't canceled that friday so that we could get more students out to the game (all painted-up)! I'm hoping for a great football season so that we can go back to New Orleans for the bowl game.
